With his striking falsetto style, Lou Christie had just four UK chart hits - two in 1966 and another two in 1969. Here's the first of the four - a UK #11 for him, which first entered our charts 26 February 1966.
I was so fortunate to be one of those that got to hear these great songs fresh off the record presses, they are ageless. They so fast one after another and they are still as fresh and meaningful today as they were then.
You are so right Dan, we were very lucky to be young in those times. The music still brings such powerful and vivid memories flooding back. Where the hell did all those years go ?!
When I was really young I was at the drive-in watching a movie. And this was the song they played at the end and it’s always stayed in my mind. Then about 20years later. I was at my mother - in - laws and they were playing the biggest hits in the 60s but they also did it week by week and this song came on. No mobile phones back then. But what the DJs did back then that they played songs was intro them then at the end would say their name again. I wrote it down and put it in my jewellery box that had fake stuff in it lol. Then the good ole Napster years started and I got my piece of paper and got it and I’ve had it ever since.
Good song! Producer Charles Callelo arranged the horn parts. The Delicates sang the background vocals. The rhythm track consisted of keyboardist Stan Free; bassist Lou Mauro; drummer Buddy Saltzman; and guitarists Vinnie Bell, Ralph Casale, and Charles Macy. Out of the three guitarists, it's Ralph Casale who plays the solo.
I was ,2years old in California always sleeping by jukebox at bowling alley where my Mom, BILLYE the original OG, with my step dad on a League still listen to this song
WOW! The Comments on here are so ridiculous~~It's A Great Song! Lou's Falsetto is Awesome~~ The words are mild compared to the lyrics of today! Why are you people picking them apart??
It took me forever to get the name of this song...I kept hearing it on the oldies station..and I love this song....but couldn't make out what he was saying to look it up...but now that I KNOW it's Lighting Striking it's sounds so clear.....
Victor you amaze me! When I came to your channel, I had no idea you were into sooo much music. Today while listening to the radio, I heard this classic and decided to add it to my playlist. I went for the lyric video and it was yours! Back around Christmas I said "Victor you're all over the place" You responded "Yeah Debbie I'm like Santa" I love you friend! 💘
My friends tell me I'm a walking encyclopaedia of pop music. Haha! Possibly. My apologies for not replying to your Valentine's Day request. I was in Spain and unable to respond to any channel comments.
@@sunryse111 awww Victor except for the fact that you stood me up on a true lovers holiday, all's good! 💘 You're the sweetest man I've ever met! 💘 Since day one you've always been there for me! oh Victor slow down, in another couple of months, your big day will be here and I was hoping you'd be in the U K so I'd be able to get in touch with you. I don't wanna hear that you were too tired to respond or too far away! 😏 Oh now it's time for my big holiday, St. Patrick's day is coming soon and yeah I'm Irish! 🍀🍀 Victor were you traveling as much when we met on "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again" ? I miss you buddy! Be safe, Love Debbie
@@deni00767 I will always try to be there for you, Debbie. I have no plans to visit the USA - it's a "long haul flight", something I'm getting too old for. Spain is just 3 hours away by plane. I wasn't traveling when you and I first corresponded - in fact, thanks to the pandemic, I've not been abroad for 2 years. But I've reserved the same apartment in Spain for 3 weeks in November. Enjoy your St Patrick's Day celebration!
I've always liked this song, even though I'm from a younger generation. But reading the lyrics, wow, it's definitely from another era. It's like Mad Men mentality, could almost be interpreted as misogynist or worse.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the song. But lyrically it'd be roasted if it was a modern song. Just like when it was normal for 20-year-old guys to sing about teenage girls back in the day, these days lyrics have to be relatively safe.
You are SO right! Songs like "Young Girl" and "Go Away Little Girl" would be banned outright today - while it seems perfectly okay to sing lyrics with the crudest words in the dictionary!
Totally agree. But like you said, oldies are meant to be enjoyed and not analyzed too deeply. They were a product of their time. I'm glad we still have access to them!
Lyric written there is incorrect...he does not say YOUR lips begging to be kissed...he is generalizing about other women's lips and that is the point of the song. He is telling her that he will be attracted to other women and until he is ready to settle down with her, he will act upon those urges. Listen to the words closely.
@@andreaschmall5560 Touchy? You will see that i loved your comment and poked fun at myself. Anyway, I have counted around 250 words to these lyrics, Andrea. I hope that the ONE incorrect word did not spoil your listening enjoyment too much. Your irrational friend. xx
Okay...the written can sometimes be misinterpreted. All is good and I see the other commented you posted so thank you for that. Thanks for posting the video too..Love that song!
This song was controversial at the time of release. Many DJs wouldn't play it because they were convinced the song was about a couple making love and climaxing too soon hence lightning strikes - STOP!
+Music Selection Weird, huh? Wonder if they are aware of the problem? The only annoyance I have is that the upload system no longer seems to suggest any "tags" like it used to do. I have to enter all the tags manually.
Great song , explaining that she'll need to understand that he's a man and if he hooks up with other women before they get married , well that's just the way men are wired from our caveman days , right gang ?
Beautiful Voice, Amazing tune... but those lyrics... ummm, lady keeps telling him to stop, he tells her you ought to know the makings of a man and let nature take its course... and that he can't stop? ummm, no bueno man.
+sunryse111 it was considered a bit risque at the time. I remember my mom commenting to my dad asking him if listened to what it was about. They didn't censor anything I listened to except for the Napoleon IVX record, which my dad felt was inappropriate.
Many years ago, at the time this song was popular, I read that Eric Clapton played in this song's recording ... Does anyone have any further information on this?
