Atticus has quite a bit more staging ability and is more midbass focused. It has a lot of narrow mid treble peak around 11k also that I equalize out. If you do buy one be sure to get the suede Ori pads They reduce treble glare noticeably

Chances are good the 1990 is brighter, just from a glance at oratory1990's measurements

I haven't heard it at home yet, but considering I sold HD 800 and GX but still have the 2F, if I do get a chance to hear it side by side I will write some thoughts

I've auditioned the Stellia numerous times and imo the bass could be tighter for the money. If the 9200 is as good or better, that would be awesome especially considering it's almost half price. Thanks for your time ;)

I sort of tried that; I tried starting a “headphones for beginners” series but the first video got very few views, so I stopped. From what I have seen from questions and comments, it seems that generally, people interested in audio are primarily looking to purchase or learn about specific audio products. This is why product reviews are so popular. However, I’ve come to realize that most people are interested in learning about audio technology IF the technology is discussed and is relevant to an audio product being reviewed. So for example, people might be more interested in learning about electrostatic headphone technology if this topic is discussed in an electrostatic headphone review, rather than as a topic in its own. But I love your idea.

@@bertreviews Yeah. Might be a bit too niche of a subject for it to stay afloat on the youtubes, sadly. But it would be wonderful for us newbies who are just piecing it all together. Gets a bit confusing with all the terminology and whatnot, you know.

I will say that most of what I learned is from reading Tyll's work for his last few years of reviewing. The rest comes from talking to people such as oratory1990 on reddit and Mad Economist, the owner of Cascadia Audio. Both of them have read just about every AES paper in existence and can confirm or deny lots of myths about audio. More recently I talk to the Audeze engineers regularly about where detail and soundstage come from. The resources that get this technical about headphones are not easily found. You can try reading a lot of what is written on /r/oratory1990 the subreddit itself if you want to get up to speed on a few important topics very quickly, though.

It's also a ton of work for me to timestamp every question or topic unfortunately. These are best when you're actually stopping by during the show

Every headphone has flaws. I prefer the HD 650 nowadays, but it's still a similar sound. Unfortunately I can't know what everything sounds like before hearing everything

@@metal571 thats completely understandable, things change new things come out. You actually aspired me to buy the HD600s and I still think theyre amazing despite being a little bright. Since then ive gone to the 58x and the 6xx (not sure how close the 6xx is to the 650 but i love it for metal) and love those others as well. Also this year has been amazing for metal! I wish i could have joined the stream to talk about all the albums coming put instead of just headphones.
