that height gauge is a gift at that price. i picked up a 454 which is three times as big, and its seen a lot more use. cost about the same with the conversion rate i guess. congrats on the subscribers too! the collet closer is very interesting to me, thanks for sharing a close up look of it and how it works.

The height gauge is sweet. Vernier scales are still fine - I still use my vernier calipers happily - analogue is still good. I'm so old I grew up using slide rules. :) The collet closer is quite a complex piece.

That gauge is SWEET , Brand new randy .. Glad you could see Don and help him out some , I love to fish And live in Oregon on the Salem end . I bet if you lap the ends of those it might bring it closer , ON TO PART 2 ..LOL

That acrylic handle got me to thinking that you could replace ball handles by filling a paper cup with resin, suspend a cleaned and maybe knurled handle into it, give it plenty of time to cure and turn the resin down to a ball. Polish to finish.

Hi Randy, surely, the length of one side of the handle compared to the other side is causing the collet to spin elliptically and causing vibration?
