When I was 18 I decided to lose weight. I weighed about 205 lbs. and stood around 6 feet tall. Here's what I did. . .AND IT WORKED!!! I began jogging every day (LONG before jogging was even close to being "a thing" to do). I didn't run very far, but I ran EVERY DAY. I quit eating sugar and carbs. NO bread, cake, cookies etc. I only ate protein, beef and a little fish once in a while. . .And lots of veggies such as broccoli, some peas and carrots, and some green beans. I drank water, some unsweetened tea, some unsweetened coffee and diet sodas once in a while as well. I became addicted to this routine as the weight began to come off. In fact, I took it too far and finally at 145 lbs. I said enough is enough and stopped being so strict about my diet. But I did NOT go back to much sugar as I had kind of lost my taste for it, and even though I did go back to some carbs, I didn't overdo that either. From that time on I have maintained a weight of around 157 lbs. ever since. I'm now 73 and I've noticed a bit of fat around my middle since I became a "covid recluse" for the past three ridiculous years, but I can handle that now that the world isn't demanding that I "hide out" in my apartment anymore. My point is that after my diet regimen at 18 to lose weight, I haven't constantly denied myself some things I want occasionally, and my weight hasn't gotten out of control. I think it's more common sense than having a list of this is OK and this isn't. I pretty much KNOW what isn't, and just don't overdo those things. So now at 73 my motto is, "Everything in moderation. . .Including moderation."

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that he was top 10 (maybe 9th) in the Olympics he competed in. Some people think that if you don't get a medal, then you failed. Top 10 in the world is an outstanding achievement, making him a premiere world-class athlete. I was a college runner, not Olympic material (didn't even qualify for Olympic trials in my event, the 800, missed by 3 full seconds, which is a lot), but I know how much work goes into getting to that level. I lost 140 lbs in one year, and I absolutely ate beans, bananas, berries, etc. what I cut was starch from pasta, bread, rice, and potatoes, and lessened my portions, and I used intermittent fasting. What works for one may not work for someone else, but I WAS fat, and did have a big belly, and I lost it eating many of the foods you say not to. 💁🏼‍♀️ (I am not, and have never been diabetic. I became vegan almost 4 years ago. I suffered from PCOS for 15 years or so. I was overweight and miserable and depressed because I couldn't get pregnant. I stopped eating meat, dairy and processed food. I still eat bread but I bake healthy bread myself, I eat all the legumes available every day . I still enjoy a good dessert but in moderation. I don't crave sugar every day like I used to. If someone tells me any fruit or veggies are bad for you I just laugh. My diet is balanced and I'm never hungry. I only had to make a few changes and i did it without another so called doctor who would rather poison me with pills and hormones that never worked for me. I managed to lose all the excess weight with those simple changes .and I'm about to give birth to my first child. My only advice is to don't eat more than your daily kcal deficit requires, avoid processed food and don't believe all of these doctors on RU-vid blindly

They are not taught critical thinking and because of this, Hundreds of millions of people believe all kinds of lies over the last several decade. No no's for belly fat: - Bananas - Flavoured yoghurt (whole, plain & sour is fine!) - Complex carbs (oatmeal, brown rice, whole grains) - Chocolate skim milk - Black beans, lentils (turns into higher levels of glucose once digested) It is all about how the foods affect insulin. The type of food despite of calories being the same has a much different effect on your body.

Weight loss is probably one of the best things to do for the majority of people. I had started the keto diet last to get my weight down to 190. I started from 205. I'm 6-1. I was worried about how my blood work results would work since I've never eaten so much meat before. Especially with the eggs and bacon or sausage in the mornings. I had blood work done a couple of months ago and my cholesterol numbers had dropped despite eating so much meat. I dropped the keto diet after reaching 190. Now I just eat a lot less carbs so I haven't been gaining the weight back.

I think with the work out message the consistent element is that excersise (at an appropriate intensity) will benefit you, but those saying it won't help you are perhaps trying to dispel the common belief that losing fat *requires* frequent strenuous activity. I follow a personal trainer who is still having to tell people you can't do sit ups to get a flat stomach and that "abs are made in the kitchen" because that myth still persists.

I’ve even continue to lose while staying in a calorie deficit but it requires eating less than 1500 cals a day. So from my experience - do Keto to lose the weight. So let's say today I will have a fried or cooked beef, broccoli, asparagus, carrot, red bits. Tomorrow I may have fish, with green leafy vegetables. I don't eat any carbs whatsoever, no sugar and no milk or cream to coffee. After meal I have my dessert time and eat handful of nuts; Brazilian nuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds. and couple bars of no sugar chocolate. I'm getting up very early in the morning and my breakfast is; first a water with apple cider vinegar, then black coffee. I said that eat at noon but I don't want to fall to pattern and give my body sense of stability. I'm switching time sometimes ahead or before noon. That way my body is confused and have to use my body fat to produce cell a necessary fuel. 00:00 🍏 Different opinions on best foods for losing belly fat require understanding the underlying reasons for including them in a list. 00:56 🍌 Eating certain foods doesn't "burn" fat; it's more about how long you can go between meals without eating. 02:38 🍌 Bananas can be high in carbs, especially fructose, which can contribute to belly fat for individuals with fatty liver or insulin sensitivity issues. 04:00 🥛 Flavored yogurts often contain excess sugar, counteracting any potential benefits from the good bacteria they provide. 05:50 🍓 Antioxidants don't deliver more oxygen; they counteract the action of oxygen. Berries are beneficial but won't directly lead to fat loss. 08:01 🌾 Complex carbs like oatmeal and brown rice don't lower insulin; they're neutral to it. Comparing them to sugary cereals doesn't make them a healthy choice. 09:52 🥛 Chocolate skim milk may be low in calories but contains high sugar, contributing to insulin levels and fatty liver, a main cause of belly fat. 13:14 🍽️ Caloric deficit is crucial, but choosing foods that keep you full longer is key. Focus on real, nutritious foods, not just counting calories. 16:37 🥙 The study on chickpeas compared to toast and jam doesn't definitively prove chickpeas are a fantastic choice; it only shows they're better than the latter. 20:12 📊 Studying insulin effects on a mildly overweight, mildly insulin resistant population may not be applicable toindividuals with more significant insulin resistance. Statistical averages may not apply to individual cases.

@cadillacbluez Ketosis is not sustainable for most people. INSTEAD, I try to adhere to periodically using intermittent fasting....the days of actual eating I make a huge pot of Russert potatoes with cabbage, colorful peppers, onions, carrots, and top it off with a poached egg for each serving....eat this all day until 7pm..the next day is FASTING, start with a cup of coffee and drink lemon water ALL DAY ( Eat a handful of pumpkin seeds or 500 calories of protein, if you can't go the entire day with no food whatsoever ). The next day make your huge pot of potato/vegetable stew, add lean chicken or pork chops to the recipe...eat this all day until 7 pm...Next day INTERMITTENT FASTING again. Do this until desired weight loss is achieved.
