Saying "we are doing a lock screen interview" would definitely make me agree 😂 the pure curiosity of what that even meant

Oh, I have a very embarrassing one. I was joining some Japanese friends at an izakaya and there were people I didn't know. When I arrived, there were no spots next to my friends, so I wanted to ask my friends' friends if I could sit next to them. I pointed at the chair in front of me, and I wanted to ask: "ここに座ってもいいですか?" (koko ni suwatte mo ii desuka? = May I sit here?), but I ended up saying: "ここに触ってもいいですか?" (koko ni sawatte mo ii desuka? = May I touch here?) Aaaaaaaand of course I was pointing at the chair in front of me but it looked like I was pointing at something else. Aaaah, good times.

I know... When we speak of translating something badly in Japanese, it's also of use to say "lost in translation" to refer to the movie...

That is a pretty big cultural issue with them I agree, but a lot of people here in the West would do the same and not get involved with people in trouble its worse in terms of getting involved your entire livelihood can be ruined if you protect someone from a murderer if you hurt the murderer a tad too much.. Feminism + SJW politics has wiped out a lot of people who would get involved as well for instance a woman claimed a man raped her when he rescued her from drowning just because he didn't have her consent to rescue him (even though she was face down in water unconscious)

When I was a younger lad, many moons ago, I had come across a beautiful Brazilian exchange student. She had a big, curvy, heart and a perky set of eyes. I had decided to brush up on my Portuguese, and after some time would engage in conversation with her. She'd talk so fast I'd only pick up a few words here and there but I'd smile and nod as if I understood everything. At some point she mentioned homework, a time, and a place. I agreed thinking it was a little study date. The time comes and she finally arrives, 15 minutes late, in a short and revealing outfit. It leaves me breathless. She finally makes eye contact and slowly comes my way. My heart is about ready to burst out of my chest as she smiles at me, places her notebook in front of me and says "thanks". She then turns and leaves the room. That's when it dawned on me, she had asked me to do her homework.

Plenty of lost in translation moments in Japan, but one of the funniest was when I was in Hong Kong (This was before smartphones and google translate). Before, I had been living in Beijing for a while so I picked up a bit of Mandarin there. When I went to HK, I was staying at my friend's friend's house who couldn't speak English and I asked him if he could help me find an internet cafe using the Mandarin word I had learned in Beijing. So I followed the guy for maybe half an hour through crowded twisting streets and the dude walked so fast it was really hard to keep pace with him. Eventually, he led me, not to an internet cafe, but instead to video game arcade. That's when I realized that maybe the word they used for internet cafe in Beijing meant Arcade in Hong Kong. Maybe because the internet cafe's at the time in mainland China were mostly used for playing games. Embarrassed and disappointed, I tried not to show it but instead thanked him and he then he went his own way, probably confused as to why a grown-up guy like me wanted so badly to play video games by myself.

I'm French and I've been dating a Japanese guy for about 3 years and we don't really have a lot of lost in translation moments (because we live in the US and both of us speak English) but it's sometimes the opposite. When I first came to Japan, we went to eat dinner with a few of his friends. Being guys, they eventually asked 「した?」(did you do it?) and they assumed that I wouldn't understand. Yet, I knew based on the context that they were asking if we had ever made love.... it was extremely embarrassing for me throughout the rest of our meal but I couldn't say anything in case I had misunderstood. Once we went back home, I asked my bf to make sure that it was what they had asked and he told me yes... My face turned red and I became so mad I think we will probably have more lost in translation moments once we move to Japan next year.

I was working in a Calvin Klein outlet where we get multiple tourist from around the world. I was helping out these two ladies from Kyoto thus, they asked where do they checkout as they point to the direction of the cash registers. After that I said "yeah yeah !" The two Japanese women looked at each other confused and startled. I discovered that for them I sounded like I was saying no hence īe. I said I was Japanese too I'm a disgrace ...

My lost in translation moment was in Poland. I knew the name of the city I wanted to go to (in Polish), but trying to buy a train ticket from a lady who didn't speak a word of English or my main language took so long, I didn't know what to do. Hahaha but I got it in the end!

Waa lost in translation moments can be frustrating, embarrasing and funny at the same time. Recently a Japanese friend of mine came to Sri Lanka and ma mom and i were showing her around Colombo and i had to keep explaining certain things in Japanese because she couldnt speak English so well and i am also only at N5 level, so we happened to pass a funeral parlor and she saw the coffin and asked me how the funerals were done and after explaing i asked her how they were done in Japan usually and i mentioned that i saw cool looking tombstones in movies and anime but she didnt get it so we just ended up apologizing for the fact that we couldnt speak each others languages. Went soooo off point there 😭😂 Anyhoo love your videos looking forward for more 💕😆

1. Trip nach Japan. 1. Tag.

Not exactly lost in translation, but I felt like an idiot... When I was in Japan, I accidentally asked for 8 of something instead of 4. (Yattsu instead of yottsu) I knew the difference but my words just came out wrong. They knew what I meant but were laughing at me. I felt so dumb. xD

I went to Japan two years ago. I was in a shop with a friend of mine who wanted to buy something. Between the two of us I'm the only one who studies Japanese. My friend didn't have cash so he asked me to ask to a clerk if it was possible to pay with a credit card. So I walk to a clerk and said: "すみません、キャッシュカードで洗っても (instead of 払っても) いいですか。". The clerk looked at me speechless, like I said a badword or something. After a few trys and repeating the word "credit card" again and again she manged to understand me and let us know it was possible to pay whit a credit card ^^'

My LIT moment was when I went to Tokyo Disneyland and the girl staff on of the rides there signaled to me by raising her arms and forming a letter T just like when you go to airport security. And I thought she's gonna do a search on my pockets so I also raised my arms getting ready to be body search. She laughed at me and she then tells me "Sutoppu" and I laughed back. Basically she wants me to stop and wait for others before I can take the ride. Well, she's kinda cute so I didn't mind if she does a strip search on me LOL

I hate PC as much as the next person, but what I think they were trying say politely was your an asshole. But your an asshole that's entitled to your opinions so,,, yeah for freedom of speech! Also I read a study that said mixed race are genetically superior since they can inherit the genetic advantages from there parental races. Yes there are health risks but that is the same for inbreeding and having a kid with some one who is genetically unhealthy. Plus nobody thinks about these things when falling in love, so just asking for you to stop disguising your opinion with science to make it seem more intelligent. Your not fooling anyone. 😉
