Filmed over the past 1.5 years, I reviewed this Magnetospeed Sporter Chronograph. From initial impressions to fitting it to the barrel to shooting it to looking at the data and then a final wrap up of my thoughts in the end.

Just bought the Sporter model two days ago😃, crash course the instructions and went to the range yesterday. First time setting up no problem , shot 12 shots @ the 100 yd. target then came home. Got back onto it and after a little adjusting and repeating I was able to download data on all 12 shots including hi , low , avg. for now. Did see ES and SD but who cares about SD when you don't understand it lol The only adjustment I have made is attaching a small piece of velcro ( female side) to the underside of the nylon strap so when I tightened the thumb nut it secured the strap nice and tight. People had said the chronograph moved on stainless steel barrels so I thought this would improve the gripping of that strap and it did. Zero movement on my 223 rifle. Heading out again tomorrow in the snow to shoot some more data as now I can only load 20 pills at a time because I am using my Hornady trickler to exact measure 25g loads , not 24.9 or 25.1 but 25.0 g :) My friends at the range have those other types of chronographs which require setting up an apparatus out in the range area with parts on the bench and can only do so in windless , dry and generally slightly overcast weather which they have done about twice last year because it's a pain in the A$# to do so and lug around all those parts plus the time to set up BUT as they say when they brag about something they don't use much it was cheaper lol. Who cares if you don't use it what does it really cost ? Mine fits in my carry bag no problem. 😁

Yes, that is the thing, it's generally easy to deal with, lightweight and simple and you don't have to deal with shooting through the "window" on a regular chronograph and getting the distance right and dealing with the lighting conditions, etc. I don't mind the regular chronos for pistol but for rifle I think this is the way to go.

@@wanneroo7106 100% and don't forget tomorrow will have light snow where my range is and I don't care because the benches have a roof over them which means I and the Magneto will be dry.

too bad we can't download pics so I can show shooters my home made chrono mount which cost me $10.00 work 100% and very light and now I can shoot the same rds. for OCW & Ladder tests.

Very easy, just take your phone, get a $20 plug in microphone for your phone and make your own videos for your channel. I started my channel with an Iphone and a microphone, you can too.

@@wanneroo7106 Thought about that but the initial idea came from 4GunGuy not me. What I did instead of using aluminum I used steel bar stock 1/8' x 1.25" x 12" , then bolted the bent bar to the underside of my MDT forend with M-Lock screws after I flat black painted it. Then shaved down my MagnetoSpeed by about 5/8" and attached it to the bar using the supplied strap and attached some Gorilla tape to add additional security to steel bar. Next to 0 vibrations and very solid. Works 100%.

Will this work on pistols?

Maybe on some long barrel single shot Thompson Contender or something, it might be made to work but no it's not really intended for regular pistols. You know, I know. That is the great thing about doing RU-vid videos is you notice all this stuff when filming and editing and I work on improving everything with the channel all the time, including presentation.
