I heard about this knock from a former powerful opener Majid Khan of Pakistan, but thanks to you, watched it & enjoyed every bit of Majid's carefree batting.
Maji khan the majestic Majid was in his peak form in 1977 Test series against west indies who had a battery of world class fast bowlers like Andy Roberts Joel Garner Colin Croft.Majid and Wasim Raja scored heavily against them.
People, hold your horses. This is the first World Cup in 1975. Pakistan had West Indies reeling in the chase before wicketkeeper Deryck Murray and the bowlers took them across the line. The tour of West Indies came a year later where Maajid scored 167 and Waseem Raja 117*. In one Test, Pakistan had West Indies reeling in the chase before --- you guessed it --- wicketkeeper Deryck Murray and the bowlers took them across the line!
NO HELMETS!!!... And That against the Mighty Windies and all of their Legenrdary Pace Battery at their majestic peak... for me That is why the players of the 60-late 70s are the the ultimate Gavaskar, Majid, Javed, Mustaq, Viswanath were simply fearless & superior to ANY Subcontinetal players of the 90s onwards... Except for Maybe PONTING. Can you imagine These legends like: Laxman, Dravid, Tendulkar, Kholi, Sharma trying to score while facing the likes of Holding, Roberts, Marshall, Lillie, Thomson, Bret Lee, Waqar, Wasim or Akthar without the Helmets?💩💩💩...🤭🤫🤪😷🤯🥺😱🙅
Majid Scored 167 i believe in Barbados. The worst wicket along with Sabina Park.I saw him play in Jamaica during the 75-76 series.Clearly he was moving in slow motion. The bowlers were Holding, Roberts and others.
Mate, I think you were blessed to witness that powerful innings of former prolific opener Majid Khan of Pakistan against the most ferocious West Indian pace attack in the cricketing world.
It is the first Worls Cup Criket ( named as Prudential Cup) hosted by the England in 1975 but not in 1976. That was a semi final match but Pakistan lost it against the mighty WI and eventually WI became the Champion.
@@sohelsaheen Pakistan met WI in the Semi final in 1979 (which was held at The Oval). This is the group game from the 1975 World cup held at Edgbaston.
Majid was a vegetarian, didn't even eat eggs. Very well educated and a thorough gentleman. No fussy reactions like kneeling down after scoring big runs. Pakistan cricket and nation need more people like him.
@@MohsinRaza-uq2ow I think you got it wrong here. Being vegetarian is good in terms of reducing green house emissions and ensuring food security to larger no of people. This is for betterment of humanity. Now that does not mean that non vegetarians are. bad for humanity. Every one including vegetarians and non vegetarians have their roles to play. & recently most of the athletes are turning vegetarian to enhance performance and concentration
@@MohsinRaza-uq2ow beefy mental attitude... Don't you know about vegan culture in Western world... Not all vegetarians are brahmins... Like not all stupids are muslims.. But.....
