Great result. A Velociraptor as it should be in 2022. Completely different from the JP (Deinonychus) baddies . Coherent animal considering all those different materials you used.
Thanks, friend! It's funny, some people say Jurassic Park is "The best and worst thing to happen to popular paleontology." People mostly criticize it for its inaccuracies, but I think we shouldn't forget how much it advanced the public consciousness of dinosaurs. If not for JP, most people wouldn't know about velociraptor OR deinonychus!
I completely agree with you. And "there is no thing like bad publicity' . Even JP's own scientific advisor Jack Horner is trying to (re)create dinosaurs from the DNA of living dino's (chicken!) . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0QVXdEOiCw8.html I just finished building the ultimate JP Velociraptor scene: "don't do into the long grass", soon on my channel. A more realistic V. I used earlier.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MzY5xVQamq0.html Greetings Bert
Great work! i must admit watching someone else make a velociraptor from scratch is making me realise what i could have done differently when making my own. Id day the only thing that you could have done better with is the feather work though this is only my personal opinion as i think it looks a little bit too chaotic. the head sculpt though is amazing and was defiantly one of the things i struggled with when i made my own, if i had gotten some eyes premade like yours i could have gotten a much better head shape.
Thanks! I look at the tail sometimes and wish the feathers were a little more neat. I cheaped out and cut some feathers in half to spread them out further. Where can I find your velociraptor?
Only thing I could see as a potential improvement would be two swap the paper teeth for something like plasticard. I've been considering upgrading my JP Raptor "taxidermy" thing I did a long time ago...used one of the Halloween masks from 93 and made a form for it, it needs a major repaint
Yeah, I might redo the mouth some time. It's not shown in the video, but I've tried using some construction paper to add some use muscles in the cheeks as well, as those are important. I'd love to see some pictures of yours!
@@WhizzerStudios one thing I also have to say is that slit pupils are typically a trait of nocturnal animals, so unless velociraptor is nocturnal it should have round pupils. Still love the work, fantastic!!
@@princevermilion8799 Yeah, I STILL agonize over that decision. Some studies support the idea that it hunted at dawn and dusk, or even nocturnally, based on the size of its sclerotic rings. I was really banking on the idea that it hunted like a cat, I suppose.
Hi! I used DAS air dry clay. I didn't like it as first because it's a bit fibrous to work with, but it takes detail really well when smoothed out with water, resists cracking, and seems to be pretty durable. It's about $12 for a pound. The claws are Super Sculpey.
I want to! I sketched one out on a whiteboard, and it's... Bigger than I have room for in my house. If I can find a museum that wants one, it's happening!
Just bits and pieces I've picked up over the years... but my two greatest sources of inspiration for this project come from two other channels called "Kayakasaurus" and "Gourmet Paper Mache." Check them out!
Sorry to hear that, man! I'll say a prayer that things look up for you. Tell me, of all places, what prompted you to vent in the comment section of this random video?
