We take an in-depth look at the legendary and historical Marathon Watch Co's Government Search and Rescue (GSAR) Divers that is built for US Military members in Iraq and Afghanistan. The GSAR in 41mm has a luxurious and premium feel that we may not expect from a watch with its intended purposes.

Marathon puts out phenomenal watches. Ever since I was in the Marine Corps, I have been wearing Marathon. Semper Fi 🇺🇲

I had picked up my GSAR almost three years ago and it has been running flawlessly between +0.5 and +2.0 s/d. Oh, by the way, the clasp on the bracelet still function perfectly.

Hi, TC. Congrats on your GSAR. It’s such an awesome all-purpose watch. It also looks sharp while dressed up. I absolutely adore it. 🙌

How much does the watch weigh with the steel bracelet?

Anyone knows what is the deal with some TSARs without date of manufacture or serial numbers on the caseback? I have one that supposedly was military issued in Iraq around 2006. Thanks

Nice watch. A field watch dial with a dive watch bezel. Good combo.

Rich your 41mm option is great but 36 is definitely interesting in the white. Thanks for that thoughtful explanation about tritium tubes. Who knew about movie theater signs using the same tritium tubes. It’s a crowded market in the price range and marathon earned their stars. Great job. 👍👍👍

Had the 36mm and it was too small; the height to diameter ratio looked silly. I've got the 41mm coming in on Monday and I think this one will be just right. I still think the bracelet is criminally overpriced.

Nice review. What wrist size do you have? How did it fit? Trying to decide between this and the MSAR.
@whatsonthewrist
@whatsonthewrist 3 года назад
Hi, Deano. My wrist size is about 6.5”. I am enjoying the fit. Both models are nice, if I recall the MSAR is available in 36mm. Let me know which one you decide on. The quality is excellent.
@deanomachino9947

@@whatsonthewrist yes i have the same wrist size but was abit worried about the bulk. I normally wear a gshock ga110. Would you say size wise would be on par? excluding weight obviously.
@whatsonthewrist
@whatsonthewrist 3 года назад
@Deano. I’m not sure on the dimensions for the ga110. It’s certainly not a thin watch but I really like its presence and comfort of the GSAR.

Nice brand, but what's the deal with the "deeep dish pizza" construction concept, does this have any use or purpose? Any idea Ritchie boy?.
@whatsonthewrist

Not sure but I dig it, brother. Actually the case and bezel are under 14mm if I recall. So really maybe more so for aesthetics. 🤙

@praetor47 3 года назад
@@whatsonthewrist yeah, i know :) i used to have a MM300 which is even thicker, but it wears a bit thinner as about 2mm of the total thickness are "hidden in the meat of the wrist" ;D this one wears the full 14 because of the flat caseback i don't get why the Medium quartz is nearly 2mm thinner than the mechanical, but the TSAR is the same thickness as the GSAR :/
