@@marytudor-iw2dw I doubt it. Margaery had a firm goal to become queen for very different reasons than Cersei. It's partly speculation on my half as I've never watched GoT past s4, but I've studied Margaery for years. I even did two papers over her manipulation and tactics. Having said that, Margaery would've manipulated Joffrey until the bone, he was literally in her clutches the entire time. Her manipulations stem from the core of her people, and Innocents. I'm not saying she's perfect and that ALL her motives are pure, but Margaery turning into Cersei just because she sits the throne as queen is a bit of a ridiculous statement in my view. Margaery, again, has an extremely firm view on where she wants to take Westeros to in the future. That future doesn't include allowing anyone around her to equally manipulate her views into brainwashing and destroying her character, that would be awful writing for a character whose THIS stubborn.
@@marytudor-iw2dw I see what you mean! She's definitely vicious if she's pushed. I need to finish GoT and actually see Margaery in a full episode, she's so interesting
The main reason that she treated Margaery that way was because when Cersei was younger, she was told that she would meet her end by the hands of a younger, more beautiful queen, so she remains suspicious of anyone who would try to take her place. She's basically trying to escape her inevitable fate
How could you be on a video called "Margaery and Cersei Hating Each Other For 3 Minutes Straight" and still fail to write Margaery properly .... That's cringe.
One of the most important parts of Cersei's prophecy is that she will be replaced by one younger and prettier than herself. It's why she never even tries with the women in her life. First Sansa, then Margaery, then Danaerys, she was always paranoid about who it might be
She didn't care about Sansa actually, Sansa is just a little bird in her eyes, she's not scared of Sansa. And she fights with a lot of rivals include men, not only women, especially Tyroin.
And that prophecy was wrong, actually there's no one replaced her Queen title. Dany was killed, Sansa only can stay in the North. There's no queen after her.
@@adw6894 technically the wording of the prophecy is "You will be queen, for a time... until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all that you hold dear." -- Replaced is never used. So the prophecy is accurate. Dany is younger, more beautiful, and does indeed end Cersei' reign and kill the only things left that cersei loves her power and her brother Jamie. Even the "And when your tears have drowned you, the Valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you." is accurate if you look at it loosely. She does have the life choked out of her (by the stones) and jamie (younger twin) does have his hands near her neck (to comfort her) as they get crushed.
It’s amazing that they were able to wipe out the entire family of Tyrells by season seven but in the books there are so many family members🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Fr like every major house in the show had like 3 members if they were lucky. What's weird is that Margaery mentions a cousin of hers but that never comes up again. Guess they forgot about that.
There are so many more tyrells in the books. 2 of them are even siblings of Loras and Margaery, but for whatever reason, they were thrown into the trash.
3:12 I always liked the imagine it gave us of Cersei’s insecurity as she walks away to the sound of laughter. Not subtle at all, that she felt the laughter was directed at her.
Margaery was everything Cersei felt jealous or threatened by: beautiful, charismatic, clever…Margaery was one of the few people Cersei couldn’t bend over or clap back at, a brilliant player.
People seem to forget that Joffrey was still very young. And yes, he was trash, but we could see him slowly changing around Margaery. He was becoming a little kinder than his mother. He could've been saved I think.
@@user-uf9lz5wz4nWell, there are times he did listen to Cersei. But that before he became king. Once he had that crown put on his head. He thought I don't need to listen to anyone.
I doubt it. He was too sadistic with no empathy. If he has empathy wouldn't have tortured the prostitute of Little Fingers to death plus all of the other evil things he had done.
Their rivalry ended up badly for both of them. If they could have worked together they'd have swatted away the High Sparrow and potentially stood up to Dani.
Daenerys army in finale is so much power, even Tyrell and Lannister combine still can’t put up a fight against Daenerys with the North army , unsullied, Dothraki and a dragon.
@@Serena_9 They would have had Lannister, Tyrel, Tarlys, Greyjoys and Gold Company. They could have even sent forces up to Winterfell to support the Bolton's.
@@reallymakesyouthink Greyjoys and Tyrell and all the Norths are Daenerys allies. Lannister in the finale had only Euron Greyjoy and the Gold company. How can they propose to defeat such large armies Danny bring with her?
@@reallymakesyouthink How can Cersei remain allies with Tyrell after she set a bomb that killed Margery and Loras? Tbh, after the death of Tywin, Lannister had little chance in Westeros.
Olenna at 3:26 - jesus she could curdle milk with that stare. What an expressive actress to say so much doing just face and body posture without a single word.
one more thing about margarey which cersei hated i think was that she was almost able to control joffrey after tywin with not much effort unlike her who even being a mother failed considering he was a pure animal 😝
I will try to avoid spoiling the story of GoT or HotD. Basically, Targaryens are usually cremated, and their ashes are often buried on Dragonstone, but not always. In the time of war, bodies some Targaryens were handled differently. As the time progressed, Dragonstone became less important, so I imagine their place of burial to change over time. Great Sept was not built until king Baelor came around, which was after HotD.
@@saranemcova5448 Not really a spoiler in my opinion. I mean episode 1 of House of the dragon includes a funeral pyre for queen Aemma and her dead son, Baelon.
@@danika9411 I know how it happens. I was just saying that Targaryen are customarily laid to rest via funeral pyre rather than being buried like most other people of Westeros.
Margeary REALLY shouldnt have poked the bear and she should have moved in silence.. She should have just had Jamie Killed then Cersei... that way no one would avenge Cersei... convince Tommen it was an accident and nothing would be in her way but " blue skies"
I think olenna fukked everything up by killing joffrey. If he was alive cersei would have been cersei, tywin would be alive, tyrian could have took sansa back home if he got his shit together. High sparrow bullshit would have never happen. Oberyn could have assassinated tywin and the mountain. Lots of possibilities
It is typical female rivalry but Margaery was better than Cercei in just about all womanly ways. She was younger and more beautiful. Margaery was also not as petty and small minded like Cercei and knew how to seduce men into her will something that Cercei despite her good looks could not do.
Cersei hates seing someone else control her children. Especially if that woman is way better at manipulation, prettier and more popular with everyone. Why Margaery hates Cersei, I'm not so sure. Maybe because she is her direct adversary in her quest to become "THE Queen", maybe it's because Cersei displayed her hatred of her from the day they met, maybe it's because Cersei would never do something for the poor (though I don't think Margaery truly cared for them either)
@@Chernobyl_Reactor4 In the words of another commenter, Margaery was a better player of the Game. Problem was, Cersei gave 0 fucks about setting the chessboard on fire.
Margaery was antagonising Cersei and she caused the whole mess in Season 5. Cersei even offered an olive branch to Margaery and what does Margaery do? Margaery mocks her using her own son. Margaery was honestly asking for trouble. Margaery was a Prancing Horse who wished to compete with a mother lioness. Cersei is tenfold more beautiful (in my opinion)than Margaery, I can’t understand why people don’t see Cersei’s beauty. Margaery has curves but Cersei has everything. Margaery kills you while you sleep, Cersei kills you in a night of passion. I choose Cersei. Their respective personalities are not that different. They aren’t actually so different from each other as one might expect. Margaery simply hides her emotions better. She doesn’t get frustrated as easily as Cersei. And a Prancing Horse is a Ferrari reference because I had to. Edit: This is an old comment that I copied again because I felt guilty about the original and deleted it because it just became too nasty.
Hard to be nice to someone when they threaten to strangle you. Strange how that keeps getting ignored. Beauty means nothing when it's attached to a monster. Margaery: Give food to the city. Cersei: Give it to the pigs. Good luck with the new year tho and try to actually see it all rather then pick and chose.
@@theautomator8372 I have been trying to see it from both their perspectives. I like to think that Cersei didn’t mean the thing about strangling in sleep and that she was simply frustrated. She was probably emotional. Then again, I try too hard to see the good in people. However, someone once said something similar so I won’t excuse Cersei’s actions. The food, I can’t excuse that. That was a political manoeuvre but it was an evil one. Margaery also did it as politics but it was more positive karma. I don’t think they could have been friends because they were in each other’s way. The only way they could tolerate each other would have been if Tommen sat down with them and explained there is space for both of them. I understand Cersei is disliked but I can understand why she felt threatened, not saying it is right but I try to see inside the minds of people.
@@theautomator8372 There was one chance where they maybe could have softened towards each other. When Cersei approached Margaery and Margaery made the comment about the wine and Tommen in bed. I think the dislike is mutual, I don’t know who started it but it isn’t Cersei disliking Margaery. It is a clash of personalities. Some people simply don’t like each other. And happy new year to you as well. Even if it is a bit late.
@@Chernobyl_Reactor4"I like to think Cersei didn't mean the strangling thing." Okay so when Cersei says something with clear disdain and hate in her voice it's "no way she meant it." But when Margaery insinuates something with a smile and a kind tone in her voice it's "Ah she's so rude." Come on that's literally picking and choosing. Maergary's actions may have been fake to get the common people on her side but she actually did the things she said she'd do, which got the people to love her. Meanwhile Cersei actively hates everyone around her and shows that she cares for no one. Would you be nice to someone who threatened your life? I sure as hell wouldn't.
@@theautomator8372 I did say that someone once threatened me with the same thing and I didn’t like it. But I didn’t have to actively work or live with that person. However, we have to understand that the dislike didn’t start there, Cersei disliked Margaery long before that conversation took place. Cersei’s words were a catalyst which caused them to dislike each other even more. Probably the point of no return. And I did say that Margaery was doing it for good karma which is a compliment. And I also said that it was a mean move from Cersei. Cersei does care for one thing though, her children and I understand why she took offence at Margaery’s words. Were the words deserved? Probably. However it was the truce offering from Cersei. Did Margaery mean to insult her? I don’t know. I understand that she wanted revenge. I mean, I am trying to be neutral here, though subconscious bias can creep in. They are like politicians on completely opposite sides of the spectrum, working together is always challenging when they want the same thing. But they can get along personally. I think if they had a mediator like Tommen who could work them through their differences, they could work together. To clear the air over a cup of wine or tea. Away from court, away from the hustle. They both did things which upset the other which seem inconsequential but it led to something more. I am not blaming one over the other, both of them were to blame. And that is the truth, Margaery might not have meant harm but sometimes people take things the wrong way. It is a shame they couldn’t be friends, they would be powerful because they are opposite personalities. Perhaps I am trying too hard to be neutral.
The Tyrells really should hae dealt with Cersai better. In a "slowly poison her so she gets weak and dies in a week" kind of way. Cersai was an idiot who didn’t know how tae lose. You either kill them quickly or make sure they're hating your enemies.
I always kind of feel that Cercei would have been like Margaery if she had some type of mother figure in her life. Margaery had Lady Olenna to guide her in womanhood while Cercei had nothing but men surrounding her.
