Lots of people being rude about Judith Chalmers in the comments. Please remember this was Judith's show at the time. Mary was the invited guest. Judith said years later it was because Mary drove down from her home each time she was on the show, took ages to set up her equipment in the studio beforehand, her powers of concentration were fierce.
I first saw her only in her older age and thought the left hand was like that due to arthritis, but reading about her, it mentions that she had polio as a child which left her hand somewhat clawed like that. It does look pretty severely handicapped, but she really finds a good way to work with that hand well. She's a good cook.
Bianca Hotca I read her biography the poor woman also lost her 19-year-old son in a car accident when he was home from college. I think she’s an awfully courageous woman and very classy.
I absolutely love Mary Berry and I have never criticized anything she’s ever done before. Having said that, after drawing the circle, she should have flipped that paper over! (You still would be able to see the pencil markings through the paper.)
