@@Reydriel I noticed that too -- I'm guessing that he was truly live translating instead of going off a script, because live translating is hard and it's easy to lose nuance.

So he wanted to make music and it grew into something else? Is there an interview I can find or something to that?

@@metasprite5648 possibly, but search up any videos or articles on how guilty gear was made. He was working under a game studio and he wanted to make a rock album but was tasked to make a fighting game. He decided to do both. The first sold well enough to warrant a full on sequal (XX series). Due to licensing issues, he couldn’t make any gg games (I think it’s cause he moved over to arc systems, I don’t know), which is where he worked on the music for grand blue. Then when they got the rights, he said he wanted to make the sequal to guilty gear be 3D imitating 2D. It’s also the first game he had a vocal song. The huge success of that game for a fighting game has led to strive. And he’s still making the music, while also being the director and story writer of the game. In the older titles, he even worked a bit on the codes and did the art work. Man was committed to his creation

@@pian-0g445 couple mistakes in your comment. First, GGX was the sequel series to GG, GGXX was the sequel series to GGX series. Second, Daisuke helped make the music for/create BlazBlue, not GranBlue

Ram was the main villain of vanilla Xrd, but got into Sin's group at the end of it and started fighting along the main characters

Guilty Gear feels like it deserved an anime over a decade ago

While true, fighting games anime adaptations usually have very low budgets and end up sucking. But yeah a properly done animated series would be awesome.

I mean, I've been watching the Guilty Gear Strive story mode lately and it kind of already is. Definitely a lot lower quality than a typical anime due to the limitations of being made in a game engine, but the Stive story mode could be easily adapted, scene for scene, into an actual anime.

Thats what happens when you purposely ignore any and all of the game's story elements for the entirety of the franchise's existence lol. To be fair to Max, they made it REALLY hard with the VN style of storytelling in the XRD/StrIVe games and GG2 isn't even a Fighter.

tbh everyone should watch that purely for Ariels. She was amazing and that voice actor clearly had the time of her life.

@@DJackson747 Xrd and Strive aren't visual novels. Have you seen BlazBlue or Under Night, they only have character portraits on either side of the screen with still art of the environment in the background. Xrd has animated character models interacting in rendered environments. The only thing visual novel is the text box that can be set to auto or manual advance, Strive's story is made as a movie with even more animation and no pausing for textboxes and was only made by four people. Even in BlazBlue Central Fiction's story I didn't have to slave myself away, it is really good and is fully voice acted(sadly only in Japanese, yet BlazBlue has an amazing English cast). Although I am more appreciative of visual novels that most are, it is not an excuse to avoid the story when it is clearly presented to you in an extremely high quality compared to simpler visual novels and has in game encyclopedia organized in multiple ways so any can at least, for such a small effort, understand who is who and the events of Xrd and Strive. For clarity so this is not misinterpreted you can choose to not interact with the story and only find appeal in the gameplay, I am challenging the excuse of the medium being a high barrier to entry to allow willful ignorance.

She does have a story! As I've found out recently, it's a pretty cool one too, some cool interactions with other characters too

Why would he care what they think if he faced them as a girl? That's what they always assumed he was. Stage 9 definitely points to established lore.

@@juliustaylor9920 Zappa was a house of multiple spirits, he had the Onryo exercised because that was the only malicious one, whilst the other spirits actually sought out to protect him from harm due to being fond of his general kindness. Bringing him back would either make it ruin his format as a character by bringing back the Onryo or making him play entirely different and thus not what people remember/want out of Zappa
