Just some validation runs for DRtuned OEM+ vs OEM tune. More power everywhere throughout the curve. Significant low and high rpm gains while some smaller peak gains. This is specifically for people wanting to clean up the OEM tune and pushing peak power is coming later. There is a bit left on the table🫢
We wanted to get some more runs in with some "93" Octane but ran out of time, I expect bigger gains when running 93 vs 91.
All said and done the weather conditions were quite a bit different than the first runs. 9 pulls, 4 OEM(we saw less than last dyno day so wanted to be sure). The 215 was the highest with the lowest around 200. 3 Runs on the OEM+ with 91 and 2 on "93". The ECU does take its time to learn after being freshly flashed and each run was consecutively better.

This tune is simply amazing. mid to top end performance is elevated and gas mileage in non spirited driving has greatly improved

Its an overall improvement across the entire RPM range. Can't wait to install the CS Midpipe and fully finish the tune.

I mostly feel the effects of 93 octane above 5000 rpm, I can see on a few runs the power does a hard nose dive around there. Glad my butt is a good dyno. Man Id love to get the tune but I think I need a decarb first Im at 60k miles. Thanks for the video but Id love to see the tune dyno run!

The way they set up these new mazda 3 turbo awd cars is such that even with double the horseower the handling remains predictable and stable with a slight bias towards understeer. That said the low rpm snail ensures that the maximum torque @ rear wheels is engaged very early on in the rev range when cornering and so while yes it won't kick the back end out very readily it will send it trailing along preventing the vehicle from plowing forward with abysmal understeer

Any update for Tier 2? Will I ruin anything if I run Racechip and Tier 1 together? I know it says it interferes but I don't want to waste the Racechip and I don't think I can sell it in my country

does this tune increase the top speed. this engine is only at 5k rpm in 5th gear at the factory limited speed of 134mph. It can easily handle 150+.

I’m really excited to get this tune on my CX-50. I’m waiting with much anticipation for it to be released. I’m using the cork sport intake, heat shield & inlet pipe. One day I’d like to outfit it with cork sport exhaust and upgraded intercooler & piping, just like they have for the CX-5. I wonder how strong these engines are. Cork sport makes claims that their upgraded inter cooler can support 400hp. I wonder if these skyactiv g engines can handle that without major modifications, and my gut feeling is that they probably can’t. I’d be happy to hit 300 at the crank, let alone at the wheel.

I’m sure the engine would be able to support it. The trans would probably do fine too. The place I would throw the most concern is everything aft of the transmission. The rear drive daft, diff, and half shafts are, well, dainty to say the least.

Finally someone who has put one of these on a dyno. Waited years for this. This is legit history in the making imo. So basically 232whp/334 tq with everything but on 91 Oct. I usually use 93 Oct, I have the Jb4 on map 2 and I have the sri with Heatshield. Basically if I got the got the 80mm cat back (which I will be in the near future) I would be pushing around 250whp which is decent considering it's crank is that. This makes me wonder what these cars would need to get to 300whp. Unless I'm reading your numbers wrong or not understanding. The ECU is like a lock down cryptic box, that's definitely what's holding these 3 turbos back and separating them from the speeds imo.

This first tune is not really pushing the car very hard as it doesn't touch max boost, just cleans it up a bit. It was also made so people can use the available bolt-ons without running into torque limiters in the ecu. These cars can be difficult to dyno. They can figure out they aren't moving and shut the fun down prematurely. Lots of aborted runs on the first trip, this one went better. It was already 90* out and we were seeing coolant and intercooler temps well above what we see on the street. There were a few runs that had higher numbers on both tq and whp(I did have one run hit 250whp), but the car either shifted into 5th or suddenly pulled power because it was getting hot. We felt these numbers best represented attainable numbers if someone else dynod their own vehicle. With tier 2 tune bigger numbers are the goal. Not sure if we'll hit that without going bigger turbo or not. There is someone on reddit that claims 27lbs of boost and "well over 300whp" but nothing to back that up.

I want to boost my 2023 2.5 S FWD with something to make it a funner everyother day driver. Its so fun to daily now but i wouldn't mind a picker upper that sounds so fun. Does this make sense? Ive asked for silly things b4 and was disappointed when i obtainer them..

with these 4th gens the transmissions are weird n if it detects excessive knocking or it goes lean for even a little itll shift to save the motor from harm, ill notice ill be in manual mode n itll shift at like 5k n turns out its to save the motor bc it felt sumn was off

Is the acceleration difference notable? Worst part of this car is how hard it falls off near the top of the revs

Yes, acceleration is quite a bit different. Pulls to redline, both my 0-60 and my 1/4 are around a second quicker than stock.

If you had to through out a guesstimation, what do you think this tune could do without the intake and exhaust? I’d love to let my car breath a little better but don’t want to go full Subaru wrx bro yobbification on the car.

I've got a '22 with intake and exhaust, and TBH it's very quiet unless it's under decent load. the 63.5 exhaust from cork sport is enough and sounds good for a 4 banger.

Yes we have tested with a Dragy. With a DA of around 3500-4000ft with a 1ft rollout(like a magazine does) Its 4.9 to 60, 13.6 @102.

@@Zbone09 At the time the Dyno and acceleration numbers were run it was the tune, short ram and CS 63.5mm exhaust.

How much aftermarket support do these cars have? What is the stock turbo? And are there any upgrades for it? I don't think they will get the support that the old Mazda Speed3 had.

Not a ton of support, unsure of what that will look like over the years. Stock turbo is a Mitsubishi TD04LR4-04H*12HE1T-5, I know of two larger turbos currently being developed for it.

Damn so with 91 octane and those mods you've achieved 105% of mfr claimed peak torque #s. I think when you added a few gallons of 100 to your tank of 91 it brought the octane to a greater # than 93 or had some other weird effect when trying to mix. If I were you id make a list of 93 octane stations near you. BP, Mobile, exxon, sunoco, shell often have 93 octane. BP almost ALWAYS offers 93 idk if ive ever seen a bp that didnt offer 93.

The car takes a bit to adjust to octane, simply ran out of dyno time. There is no 93 available where I live. 100 is where the dyno was performed. Getting the car to behave on the dyno is the hard part, real-world acceleration times show its making more on the street power.

It'll hold up just fine. There is some headroom in the transmission.

@21mazda3turbo3 that's good to know. I have a 2023 Turbo that I've had a few months now. Just run JB4 with Map 2 & Corksport short ram intake. Eventually, I would like to do a proper tune, but I didn't know if the transmission would be able to handle it. Thanks

@@StgVirus1 A proper tune will be safer than the JB4 long term. With the tune you're not spoofing any data and the TCM will be receiving the correct information from the ECM to operate correctly.

Dynos are simply a tool. Some will read high and some will read low. The purpose is to be able to measure an increase or decrease when you make changes to a vehicle.

Mazda rates the 250hp at the crankshaft before any drivetrain loss. A dyno is simply a tool to measure changes made to the car to see if they've added a benefit. The tune being run against the factory tune in this video is cleaning up the factory calibration and isnt meant to push boost up. This is the base file that all of Drtuned basemaps are then built from. With this tune I've hit under 5 seconds to 60 with the 1 ft rollout vs the 5.8 and mid 13s in the 1/4 vs 14s stock measured with a Dragy.

@astrocent peak power vs under the curve power. Peak is around 20hp gained, those other numbers are always under the curve power gained.
