Thanks so much for this video. Code P0101-00 showing up . I will be doing the same job on my CX5 skyactive diesel, for which the local main dealer has quoted me nearly £1000. I reckon one days work, a couple of pounds on gaskets and liquid cleaners and the job is sorted !!!
Soon I will create a list of the necessary parts that must be in this job and together with my friend who has a repair shop, I will be able to do a full Mazda service. Of course with a service guarantee. Thank you for your interest my movie.
This carbon build up was needed on my 2.2 skyactive Mazda 6. Engine light came on at 130,000 which got done at dealership as a full clean due to carbon. Then it needed it again at 148,000 miles and again it needed it being done by dealership. Now at 180,000 the RPM goes up and down when warm at idle and blowing unburnt fuel through exhaust. So I think I need this doing again.
Great video. Very clean engine. I have the the same model and if I were you, I would be concerned about those droplets of coolant in the coolant reservoir. You might want to check, that this isn't related to gasket issues that this vehicles are know to have.
@@rp8930 Hi, yes those droplets. I could be wrong but just monitor. Over short distances the droplets appear. Over slightly longer distances, droplets and coolant in reservoir may rise or even spray out through the overflow. Again, I could be wrong...but mine started this way and the spraying got worse...it was time for proper a head gasket change. Changed exhaust cam as well. Again, I could be wrong.
@@collinsmwangi3744 Congratulations on your perceptiveness. Probably because it's winter and I drive very short distances. I also have to replace the coolant I will record a video about it, it will definitely be helpful for someone Thank you for your comment
Great job mines got 83.000miles I'm gonna tackle this job myself at some point and try film it . What the time would you say takes ? And are any of the valves open when you clean the engine side ?. I might try a wet vacuum hoover for that bit so nothing drops in engine.
Thanks for the video. Think mine needs this, discovered it within 3 weeks of buying from a dealer, car went in to limp mode code P24A5 EGR valve stuck. I tried to excercise my right to reject the vehicle under consumer rights act 2015 (issue raised within 30 days) but he went dark so will have to take it to court. In the mean time, are you still doing this full carbon clean? Mine is an auto so would need to take front wheel off and remove plastic cover and turn engine over until cyl 2 or 3 is fully open then clean other cylinders, then turn over again and fully close 2/3 and clean that last.
Instructive video! Thank you. I have a car like this. Cold when I start it spins up to 1800 rpm. For 15 seconds. Then back to 800 rpm. But if you have minus degrees don't do it. Only above 10 degrees Celsius. What could be the problem?
hy thanks for the video. i have mazda 6gh 2010 2,2. no error codes, but, the oxygen tube air is vibrating when the EGR are open. its normal? when i unplug the EGR cable, ther is no vibration.
I only drained as much coolant as you can see in the video. After finishing all the work, I completed the level and that's it. I filled up about 1 liter.
Hello and I respect you to do this operation we need to remove the battery? I want to give it a clog cleaning as well after this operation you had to put the device to the test to cancel the witnesses?
Respect for this job! You're awesome, R P :) If I'd like to clean just the throttle body with throttle body cleaner, do you know if getting access there requires disassembling the battery and getting all the air intake tubes off or is there any trick to get only there without disassembling a half of the engine? ;) I found some videos with cleaning throttle body, but all of them had a very easy access and it seems that 2.2 Skyactive-D is a different level of a challenge ;) I would very appreciate your answer, R P :)
hi, to clean the throttle you don't need to remove the battery and intake. Just cleaning the throttle won't do much for you. For a good effect, you need to perform the steps as in the movie. It takes a lot of work, but the effect is the best.
Hi thanks for the video. Did you just clean intake holes on engine block without turning the engine and closing intake valves? What about cleaner and debris in cylinders?
I blocked the holes with paper. I use a vacuum cleaner for large pieces. I pulled out a large part with a scraper plus compressed air. cleaner heavily softened the dirt. no problem with that.
I mean, before doing all that you had to close intake valve on the ports you were cleaning, right? Otherwise the cleaner and debris would fall into cylinder? How long did it take you to complete the whole job?
@@jakubb9484 you don't need to turn the engine over. you just block the valves with a paper towel. you have to make sure that there is no dust in there. Total job around 6-7 hours.
I had P0401(Check engine light) error few days ago , but after DPF burn it disappeared . Do You recommend cleaning EGR ? What do you think about programming EGR OFF , i heard it is recommended for this engine , basically there are no losses from it and its good ?
Depends on mileage, it will generally always be better for the engine to have a clean EGR and intake manifold. I generally do not recommend turning off EGR, if something is and works, it should be like that. Unless it breaks. But now it is possible to buy a used one and continue to use it.
@@paulcallaghan3083 full dpf regeneration can be done using a computer connected to the obd2. There are companies that disassemble dpf and wash it from the inside.
Hello 🙋🏽♂️. Congratulations for the video, it is quite illustrative. I have an mazda 6 from 2013, it now has 200,000 kilometers on it, and I preparing myself to do this intervention. I have a question. Did you replace any gaskets or reassemble them? If you replaced any please tell me which ones. Thanks 🙏🏽
This job was done as a hobby. I put all the gaskets on the old ones. I don't have any problems. Of course, if any are damaged or deformed, they must be replaced.
@@rp8930 Thanks for answering. I'll pay attention when dismounting, if any have damage. I also thought that new gaskets would not be necessary if none were damaged. That's why I asked to be sure and to know how you proceeded... Thanks again 👊🏽
Great video, I have a mazda 6 same engine as yours. Can I ask the millage on your engine? I'm getting a stutter around 1700rpm which I'm thinking is egr or intake valve
Hi, im starting to get a stutter at high speed too. Do you know exactly might be causing the engine to struggle? No dashboard lights but stuttering when accelerating.
@@aali2137 if you have an earlier version of the exhaust pressure sensor and haven't replaced it with the newer version give it a go part number is #SHY6-18-W00
Been there done that, on my Mazda 6 manafold, I was worried about getting carbon down into the engine, so didn't clean the ports out in the head, now I'm in the same situation as before 6 months later. 😢 DId you take any precaution to stop the carbon gloop from running into the engine, or did it just burn up when you started it?
Was secured with a cloth and gently pulled out. THis EGR fluid dissolves carbon very well. Air compressor for blowing. I made such a scraper out of a sheet of metal. Something must have been burned. But I tried to be careful and do it slowly.
@@rp8930 Hi, i think that you can turn thé engine so the valves close this way you can do 2 piston then turn again and do the other 2.Great job, Nice and clear vidéo !
Another video it shows u put car in 4th turn wheels which turns crank. Use an endiscope and you'll see the it close on 2 cylinders. U can thrn clean these snd repeat to clean other 2 . I think cylinder 1 and 3 then 2 and 4
2 weeks go diagnosed with code P0401 - clean EGR intake & DPF. But after 250miles engine check light ON again (still code P0401) Any suggestions what can i do ?
Why not remove the battery and drain the coolant into a bucket. Why struggle , when removing a little extra to give access saves you more time and temper than struggling.
