The original crybaby perfume was an actual art piece. You could see the love that went into the packaging and perfume itself. It smelled exactly what I thought crybaby would smell like. This on the other hand looks like a cash grab with no thought put into it
It was cute and simple too! Like it represented the album and was good quality according to the reviewers. Portals is just Melanie’s head in a gold cauldron which feels a little bit too much! Despite the negative reviewers when they received the statue and it looked cheap and wonky. Let’s hope she’ll release separate bottles that will look cute!😭

I usually see deals on Britney’s ones. About $40 and to me that’s decent. Nowadays 30ml designer ones cost around 50-60€ 😂 which is insane. I purchased D&G light blue intense for 40€/50ml (on sale ofc) and libre for 85€/90ml. Those days are obviously gone 😢

@@jav7899 Not all perfumes are made by big brands. Not all things are created the same way. Some perfumes are made by independent perfumers who splurge on high quality ingredients. I would be shocked if Melanie's perfumes were actually worth the price. I just don't like "perfumes are cheap to make" as a blanket statement. It's true that many perfumes are relatively cheap to make and that a lot of what we pay for is the brand and marketing but this is not true across the board. This kind of blanket statement hurts independent perfumers.
Just gonna say this as a MASSIVE crybaby, as much as I love the idea I just can’t trust it. I have the original perfume from the first tour and I still have some perfume. The formula just isn’t strong so it doesn’t last long. I double checked recently with my roommate and he said he couldn’t tell I had perfume on unless his nose was against me. So at those prices it’s just simply not worth it even if I felt I NEEDED that art piece. Edit: problem isn’t that it is subtle but that it dissipates very quickly compared to most perfumes in my experiences. Almost non existent, might just be my batch though. That said at 40$ I am not mad, I would be at those prices though

UPDATE: MEL RELEASED THE PERFUMES INDIVIDUALLY! Mel released the individual perfumes, or rather, parfums, and, as someone who hasn't bought them, they seem to be the exact same. I see no difference in the packaging accept for the statue being gone, and- get this- THEY ARE 50$ EACH 50$ FOR 15 ML FOR 0.5 OZ THAT IS A DOLLOR FOR EVERY O.3 ML OF LIQUID Mel, I love you, but jesus. 50 dollars? For reference, Ariana Grande's thank u next perfume was 45$ for 1 ounce. That is 5$ less for DOUBLE THE PARFUME. (before anyone says anything, I looked it up and parfums and perfumes have no difference. Eu de parfum has less scent than a perfume, but in general, parfums and perfumes are the same)
also, in regards to the comparison with the ariana grande perfume (I don't listen to either of them, used to listen to Melanie but can't support her with nfts cuz bruh really) it was in stores, whereas the amount she prices it at does not include shipping, which is expensive as well.
you can find 1 oz ariana perfumes for less than $30 at some places, and even sets with body lotion and other gifts for less! i really like the glass packaging that they come in especially. i find her products to be on the more affordable side of celebrity perfumes.

fr. I love the miss dior fragrance & I could get so much miss Dior for the same price as the Portals Parfum. I’ve also heard the scents in PP aren’t that nice. I wish she would just bring back something like crybaby. This era is supposed to be magical and I wish the quality would have more love put into it, I have the vinyl and it’s beautiful and I was planning to get the new perfume even though it looked weird but people are reselling it for 2,000 bucks already and it’s already almost 300 bucks, just wish there was just more because she obviously made it expensive because she knew it’d sell out quickly but just MAKE MORE! I became a Melanie fan shortly after The Voice and I stayed all up until K-12. I eventually left (a bit after After School) because my music taste changed but the way she and her team treat her fans nowadays makes me happy that I did. So disrespectful. Gorgeous voice still, but I cannot get behind all of this lol.
Since she’s now selling the scents separately I feel like it would’ve been cooler if the packaging represented the element and the object that represents it, for example: for water to could be the cup with glowing liquid, you get the idea. That's a much better and prob more tasteful alternative if she really wants to make that head part of the collection! the lid could have been the part of the head with the upper set of eyes then they could have just made the quality better. the glossiness of the hair and the printing of the eyes made it look cheaper 😓

Ngl the perfume fiolas look like something straight out of a naughty shop and would supposed to be stuck up... The design is just weird imo, not even talking about the cheap dollar store production. Considering the container, why not go for a mystical forest print with the four eyed character in 3d with some texture? Maybe that idea on one side and than it transitions to an equal print of just Melanie in a pastel room, in combo with some nice lace-swirls comming down from the opener, where you could reach in for the fiolas... could have been such a good marketing idea but oh no we got a design that looks like an upscale PEZ head...smh

I bought the water and the earthy one bc I love to collect things from my favorite artist and Someone told me only the colored part is filled with the perfume. Which actually shocked me bc I thought it was the whole bottle not just a small bit. I really tried to be positive about this but now I’m just sad.

In my opinion, the merch items along with the tour itself is a bit disappointing.. there has been SO many problems with not only the portals merch but also the whole tour in general. There was the shirt that they had changed on the website after it was sold out, people not getting the merch promised with their VIP portals tour tickets, the vinals that came bent, or with a completely different album on it, the whole show apparently being less than an hour, the ai meet and greet mentioned in the video and how expensive all the merch is in general. For example the 5 piece sticker pack was 20 dollars (USD im pretty sure) and compared to the crybaby and k-12 merch you could get a shirt for the same price (~$20 USD). Now if you want an offical shirt off the website it is $50 USD (sometimes $40 or $35 depending on what desgin you get) and of course it costs much more in most counties. I understand that it costs much more to make merch now than it was back then but the quality of it is so sad. With the crybaby and k-12 merch you werent buying it just because it was melanie martinez but also because it felt like it was good quality too. With the portals merch youre not paying for any of the quality, only her name. I love the album so much but the merch and tour has been a big bummer tbh :(

But she REPEATEDLY said throughout the concert how she never plays at venues that small and how lucky we were to get such a small intimate show. It wasn't even sold out guys... the crybaby parfume is beautiful,it was made of clay,it had a lot of parfume in it,it was affordable,it has a light drawing of Crybaby on it so you know it’s from mel and the portals perfume is extremely expensive,its cheaply made, its bulky and overall a total down grade.

She’s trying to make money for her movie, music videos, costumes and masks for performances and more. There isn’t any need to insult her, it’s optional to buy it, you don’t NEED to buy it. To be fair, the creature mask IRL looks a little wonky sometimes. I just noticed in some pics for the perfume that the eye is def off center and the structure of her cheekbones seems more thin the advertising. Like, the eyes also had more detail in the ad but the listing on her website should have listed it was rubber, rubber and statue don’t go together well. Like, it could have looked nicer and been more high quality with a different material. I personally don’t think it needed to be 12 foot either. I just think if she wanted to go all out with four different scents, the debut could have been the four bottles sold separately with unique designs (bc I do think the creature looked cute in the promo ad it just did no translate well into 12 feet). I think if she was really interested in making a figurine she could have added that as a merch option on her site separate from the perfumes bc it does seem more like one of those figures you collect like plastic anime ones or something.
