“Im sorry to tell you everybody”. The average Yankee fan has been saying this stuff since the ALCS last season. Michael Kay has been making excuses for this organization for months
Oh look. It’s that time of year where Michael Kay discovers what we Yankee fans knew the whole time. Yankee boy is reciting every talking point we fans have been making all season, yet he’s a genius for realizing it while we were clowns for saying the same things. *Update* Spoke to soon. There he goes defending Boone again, even tho he can’t get his team to figure out basic baserunning and fielding. And yes Michael, we Yankee fans know we wanted DJ to stay. We stand by it as there’s was no way to predict he’d fall off a cliff. Unlike you, we actually own up to what we say
Exactly right- hope he knows something as in that yanks are making a couple blockbuster acquisitions so he can then say well cashman had screwed up but look at how he now has redeemed himself. Punctuating his declaration with the requisite emphatic and whiny “I’m sorry, he has!”
Why is Michael acting like he's the first one who noticed the Yankees are bad?! Fanbase has been telling him all of this for years and he has pushed back the entire time. Impossible to take this guy seriously at this point.
Let’s pin our hopes on an injured Aaron Judge who isn’t great in the postseason, what could go wrong? Assuming we even make the wild card. Let it burn and rebuild.
“A lot of bad decisions.” How many other teams would allow a gm to make a lot of bad decisions and very possibly finish last in their division and not even care a little.
Michael saying this like it’s a revelation. Fans have been saying this from the start of the season and he’s done nothing but defend the front office. Now it’s obvious to him and he’s making it sound like he came up with this before anyone saw it. Hilarious
“Poorly constructed team”.. who’s been constructing them for 25 years?? So, since they’re poorly constructed and they do horrible, shouldn’t the person who constructed the poorly constructed team be removed from the duties of construction?? Lol
The fans were telling Kay all year that this team isn't built right, and they aren't a playoff team. He dismissed it because just like the Yankees management, he thinks he's the only one with the all the answers and the insight. NOW, he's like, "I hate to break it to you, but they're not a playoff team!" Well... no f--kin' kidding, Mikey. Thanks for the hot take.
I'm sorry but Michael Kay constantly saying "I'm sorry" gets on my nerves. Fire Trashman, its his mess of a roster of big contract, little production players
As soon as they decided to keep people like Donaldson, waited for Sanchez so long, and signed DJ to such a big contract I knew Cashman had lost his edge.
Bases loaded for Higgy and he swings at low and inside strike 2 and grounds out. That pitche was irrelevant. In that case you take it and make him pitch 3 & 2. Cmon Casey!
This is where the analytics guys get in the way of the baseball guys Cashman needs to change his philosophy major league, baseball wants speed, athleticism, and contact not power, and strikeouts by the hitters
The Yankees fans have always expected the Yankees to be buyers and contend for championships, and they've gotten their wish. Every year the Yankees purchase band-aids and, as Michael Kay would say, put lipstick on a pig with their signings and trade deadline deals. With that said, they've been able to compete and have even made the ALCS a few times. Now the "chickens are coming home to roost" so to speak, and the Yankees are old, their payroll is inflated and other teams like the Orioles and Blue Jays who bit the bullet and allowed themselves to rebuild for years, are surpassing them.
"Cashman will get a new job in a day". Terrific! Let him cripple some other team! Preferably in the AL East. Hell, take Boone with him, they've done such a bang up job together thus far, why break up such a good thing?
Does Kay think he’s telling us something we don’t know? Yankee fans have been saying this for over a month, maybe 6 weeks. This is all on Hal and Cashman. Boone is an employee that does what he’s told.
Stanton contract hurts them so much , I’m so upset because I thought stanton was gonna be a monster in New York the potential is there for a turn around but it has to happen now
Wrong, guy. I love how you people brag about how many years you've been saying the Yankees suck, as a means of proving how wise of a fan you are. Yet when the Yankees were on a record setting pace for more than the first half of the season last year, or if they start an 11-game win streak today, you people act like you're a supportive fan and take pride in the Yankees' success. Of course you never can provide your own solutions to your complaints, let alone realistic and intelligent solutions. You self-loathing people just complain constantly; you take credit when the team sucks, and you take credit when the team performs great. What a tough job you have demanding the Yankees trade all their best prospects for some "proven" superstar rookie, since "prospects never pan out anyway." I'm sure you're one of the guys who was demanding the Yanks trade Judge last season. I'm sure you were going crazy about needing to sign Cole, then later try to take credit for saying Cole sucks when he has a few bad games and didn't initially dominate in the postseason. I'm sure you talked about German being trash and how smart you are about that, until he went about 4 games in a row when Boone pulled him too early in the ~8th inning of more or less a shutout while being the best performer in the rotation, then later claimed credit again for your German complaints when he had his worst two games of his career right after that, right before he threw a perfect game. You haven't said much above, but it is fair to assume you're one of those whimsical, ignorant fans who always demands every player, manager, and staff member on the Yankees be fired after every bad game. It's hard to think of anything more annoying than "fans" like you people.
@@skankytrick you must be Michael Kay because your spiel is long-winded and loaded with ridiculous and false assumptions. I've been a Yankees fan thru thick and thin going back to the mid 1960s. So don't you lecture me you pinhead.
@@skankytrick look at the Yankee track record in terms of developing young players. All they seem to do is to bullcrap the fans of how great their prospects are and who ultimately turn out to be mediocre at best or pure losers at worst. Not to mention the lousy trades the organization made over the past 5 years.
@@aa697 Well the outcome is usually as you describe, but you're ignoring a few details. First of all, prospects rarely turn out to be superstars, and the ones that do are never on Judge's level, so the Yankees don't always lose by valuing their prospect potential. Also, the Yankees don't tank, and as such they don't get the top picks, like a Strausberg, a Cole, a Harper, an Albies, a Soto, a Machado, etc. It is virtuous to put a winning team on the field, and having integrity not to sabotage your team and cheat your fanbase as a clandestine means of investing in future success years-out is admirable and is why I prefer such a strategy for such a legendary franchise like the Yankees. Nobody is perfect, but you would have a far far harder time finding a better GM than Cashman, despite fans demanding the organization be blown to smithereens when the team underperforms. Most Yankees fans are insanely irrational. It is dumb to so emphatically lambast everyone in the Yankees organization while also failing to proffer any specific solution. That's what irritates me most about the whiny, fire-everyone fans.
@@aa697 By the way, I hadn't re-read which of my comments you were replying to, and now that I see which comment you were responding to, I just want to credit you with engaging in a civilized discussion and not having taken personal my seemingly personal attack. Sorry, you can tell from the tone in my original comment that I'm used to dealing with unhinged fans who virtually always resort to ad hominem attacks. Anyway, it was a welcomed change getting a civilized response, and I appreciate your candor.
This mentality is why the Yanks are old, slow and last. They must sell & build the farm system, not trade them away looking for a quick fix. Question: Why did the Yanks have a dynasty in the 1990's? Answer: Steinbrenner was suspended for multiple seasons and could not trade away Jeter, Bernie and the gang.
How do you on one hand admit the lineup is crappy and not playoff worthy much less WS worthy and then turn around and say you can't give up on the season and be sellers What????
Use the rest of this year to play guys that will be for the future. The big contracts for guys on the downside of their careers are like "Groundhog Day" for Cashmen's band-aid decisions and lengthy contracts that NYY has to eat. Aside from Cole and Judge, we are totally screwed. Let's get this team healthy and " lock and load" for next year. It is what it is.
How is Stanton a MLB baseball player. The worst BASEBALL player I've ever seen. 218million for worst swing in baseball and can't run. If he wasn't big dude able to hit the ball out the park sometimes with his eyes closed.
Time to admit cashman has to go. Baseball has no salary cap no level playing field, and this guy has blown it with by far the biggest budget in baseball year after year, terrible recruitment, Grigorious, Donaldson, Stanton hits a home run or it’s a total bust every time, pays him an absurd salary to bat .200. Yankees need to CLEAN HOUSE
I disagree with Micheal. I not only believe the Yankees are not a play-off team, but they are an un-athletic, aged team, with several players on the roster whose best years are behind them in Rizzo, DJ, Stanton, Donaldson, Higgie, Sevy. The Yankees do not have great starting pitching, certainly not consistent starting pitching outside of Cole, and they lack a bonafide closer. The Yankees are an offensively challenged team with Judge healthy and in the line-up, without Judge in the lineup they are unwatchable. Any move the Yankees make this season will in all probability be insufficient to move the needle far enough for them to be a serious contender to win a WS Championship. They might be able to sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard, but they will be unceremoniously ousted quickly. What Sevy and Cortez being pluses in the post-season, have you watched those two pitch this season? They can not be trusted to beat any decent offensive team. Because the Yankees have virtually no realistic chance to win a championship this season, any trades I make at tetrad dead-line will be focused on improving the team going forward, for future seasons., Consider this a lost season, because it is, and build for the future. The Yankees minor league prospects are not very good. Seems like every other team in MLB has been bringing up talent that shines virtually immediately, but the Yankees have Aaron Judge and that is it since Jeter. One star drafted and developed in 25 years is simply insufficient to build or maintain a winning team.
It is a fine line to walk when you work for YES but criticize the Yanks, but they need to be criticized. This batting line up scares no one! They can pitch around Judge with little fear it will hurt you.
You were absolutely right. Most of the base was screaming to sign him on for whatever it takes. I was one of them. Just shows to go you. I hope he can get back to the machine when he was my favorite Yankees player but seems like a distant faded memory at this point.
@@etamommy they got great value out of the first deal and knew they had to move gleyber back to second should of just appreciated what he gave us and moved on 6 year deal for an aging slow veteran was a horrible idea.
Not all of this is on the manager but Boone gets the very least out of the talent he has and he can't be fired because he's Casman’s boy and Cadhman won't be held accountable because of his championship years. Hal is asleep at the wheel.
The time to get Juan Soto was last year. I truly think if they had Soto instead of Benintendi, the would have won the WS or at least the Pennant. But Cashman was worried about holding onto “The Martian.” I should note the vaunted Martian is hitting .220 with a .718 OPS in AA. Getting Soto now would be a waste. The team is too far gone. You should strike when the iron is hot. How do I know this but Brian Cashman doesn’t?
I know right!! Hes acting like we didn't know this!! Hey Michael, we been saying this for over 8 weeks now!! Where have you been?? Welcome to the party pal.
Wow the Yankees aren't a playoff or World Series caliber team?! Do you have any other news flashes or revelations to share with us? Did you hear that the Hindenburg exploded in New Jersey? Are you aware that we landed a man on the moon? C'mon Michael, Dan.
Buffoon Boone doesnt play his best lineup against Orioled in game 3. Plats .200 hitting Stanton over .298 hitting Judge. Then allows Severino to give up 7 Fing runs inthe 1st inning. That is why they are in last place. Buffoon Boone is the absolute worst manager in MLB EVER.
Its cashman that makes those stupid line ups . The only thing that i get on boone for is the way he manages the pitching . He has blown countless games this year with his dumbass bullpen moves
Actually, let's just forget about the hitting for the time being and focus on STARTING PITCHING!!! FYI: you can win without big hitters IF you've got pitchers, but you can't win without starters, period, even if they're just good openers. This NYY team needs to be stripped to the bolts, starting with SPs.
What a homer...first off it's Cody bellinger. Second, severino gives u a chance in the postseason? He has a negative WAR and absolutely terrible this year. Michael Kay gets paid to talk baseball?
