I have been struggling with peri over the last year and been on the patches which has suited me but decided to get the mirena coil but they couldn’t fit it as they couldn’t get it in 😳 I was advised to get this done at the hospital but after a lot of thought I decided not to bother so have increased my patches and that has really helped as was getting quite down and that wasn’t me either. It has massively helped my anxiety too! It’s hard because only a few of my friends are having any issues but I seem to have really struggled with it all! Like you said it’s a minefield 😮 finding the right combination

Hi Nikki, I don't very often comment on RU-vid videos. I remember watching your first video a while back talking about how you felt you were experiencing peri menopausal symptoms. It really opened my eyes. I'm 36 now but started noticing at 35. It was really getting me down. After going back and forth with the doctors I ended up going private through the help of work and I'm now on HRT. I'm taking testosterone gel every other day and have noticed I definitely feel more alert and less brain fog. Unfortunately my chuffing appetite is crazy lol. I just wanted to say thank you Nikki for sharing your experience as without it, I don't think I would have sort out help. ❤❤❤

I had my coil fitted in Feb and like you, had the cramping etc. I would say give it a good 3 months to properly settle down. I am also on the patch and found I went through a period of having the most awful wind!!! I think that was coil related, but thankfully that’s stopped now!😂 I couldn’t be happier with the coil but as you mentioned I do still sometimes feel snappy and irritated but I’ve just increased to the 75 patch so that May help with that! Good luck with your journey! It’s not easy that’s for sure xx

Hi Nikki, I'm 42 too and am on my 2nd Mirena as i no longer got on with the pill. Mirena has been amazing for me but ive experienced weight gain with it, but then again I'm not particularly particularly active so probably doesnt help! I have been experiencing a good few peri menopause systems over the past year so my Dr prescribed 50mg patches. Have been using these for just over 3 months and they've made a huge difference and GP has now increased me to the 75mg patches over the past week. Ive found my skin looks loads better since using the patches and some of my fine lines seem to have disappeared! Im due to have my coil replaced in 2025 but gp said to replace it 6 months sooner as they can become less effective before the 5 years is up.

I literally turned 45 in Feb and within 4 weeks I started feeling different... perimenopause symptoms came on literally what feels like over night. 1st symptoms was my knees hips and lower back ached. At 1st thought it was my mattress I felt so stiff in the morning, but once I stretch out the tension reduces lots but my knees and hip when bending or squating down is a killer! I think yr lower back pain is more to do with perimenopause symptoms as many suffer achy joints and thats what im going through. I rub a good arnica geI on to my joints. Also casteroil on the skin using muslin pads/ dressing really helps wearing them over night. I lost 5 stone 2 years ago going vegan and maintained my weight since and still weigh the same give or take 2 or 3lbs but my stomach has become a little bigger and do suffer bloating its got me down that my tummy feels bigger when I weigh the same ! I do have the mirena coil have done for 5 years and need it replacing. I do have periods which are very light, literally 2 or 3 days and only wear a panty liner. I can't believe the difference this stage of life can make u feel and change u so quickly lol

Hi Nikki thanks for sharing your experiences with us 🙏 I’m currently on hrt patches and I’m finding the progesterone makes me soooo bloated and I have very bad pms worst than before I was on them 🤦‍♀️ not sure what to do I’ve only been on them 3 months.

My menopause symptoms started to be really noticeable in lockdown age 43 I went from being regular to only having 5 periods that year my hot flashes started and I was in denial that I was going through the change. Fast forward to today being post menopause for just over 2 years i decided to try HRT to prevent bone loss, heart disease, and dementia as well as sleep better and wave good bye to the dreaded hot flashes. Iv been on two pumps of oestrogen gel and taking the progesterone vaginaly. I decided to take the oral progesterone vaginaly because it’s stronger and less likely to cause other negative side effects. I have become very bloated and gained 7lbs since I started in mid January this year it’s so infuriating I’d got into a really good schedule of fasting to help manage my weight and I was feeling good about my body again fasting really helped to lower my insulin levels which go really high when we loose our oestrogen. I actually think it’s the oestrogen that’s making me bloated because it’s a growth hormone it fills us out during puberty and makes our womb lining grow so I’m going to reduce my gel to 1 pump and see if that helps reduce the bloating while still keeping my levels at a good level and hot flashes away. Iv also had two periods again after not having them for two years so obviously the oestrogen is taking effect, My hot flashes went away after about 3 weeks of starting and Iv been feeling a lot better but the weight gain and bloating has really disappointed me!! I was considering the coil but I’m not sure yet however it might help stopping the bleeding and I wouldn’t need the progesterone tablets if I decided to go down that route. I don’t think progesterone is the cause of the weight gain because it’s what prevents our womb lining from growing heck who knows but it’s definitely a balancing act for sure. Thanks for your update I’m looking forward to your next one 😊💐

Hi Nikki , I had the mirena coil fitted end of feb , I felt exactly like u are now a few weeks after , I felt so low and unmotivated.. it took around a month or so to settle , I’m also on the patches which do help with symptoms! I’m still getting periods but they are lighter but last Longer at the moment still , so I’m hoping soon they will also stop , someone told me it can take quite a few months before they stop ? But I was borderline gonna have it taken out when I felt low and agitated but I stuck it and and it has now settled! I hope this helps u ❤

I've had Mirena since 2006 due to endrometreosis I'm in full menopause have been since 45, medically induced, and had a new one put in in Dec 22. I have gel and testosterone too. My coil has really helped with my severe menopause symptoms. The pain is horrible especially in and out at the same time but it is worth it xX

I've used the mirena for 15 years and love it! Just turned 50, and I'm convinced it's whats helped me remain symptom free. Which patch should I ask for?

I had the Marina put in last October after suffering exactly the same as you with the utogestran, whilst not as bad I still had bloating and back ache then I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis ( endo’s evil twin) I was suffering with back pain and bloating and started to get night sweats again. One night three weeks ago the pain so so bloody bad I took the Marina out myself as I was 💯 convinced that was the problem, four weeks without it I still have back pain, and bloating and womb pains. You can get what’s called the Marina crash when you take it out as your body adapts to going back to normal so I need to give it a couple of months. Think I might have to white knuckle it for a while.

My symptoms started at 46 started evening primrose very good for skin and hot sweats. But all the other symptoms started. Age 47 started hrt tablets it did help it was lowest dose. Then symptoms lack of sleep got worse .started patches where you have 2 week break from progesterone causing a period but that combination gave me low mood bad PMT. So im now on patch 50 conti both hormones daily . This seems to have improved my mood and i definitely feel more balance no periods. Still not a full nights. sleep. Maybe we dont get everything perfect.

I have terrible insomnia. It started the end of February, I literally cannot drop off to sleep. I was put on sandrena gel and utogestan tablets, 2 for 14 days of the month and I’m getting monthly periods. I was okay for nearly 2 months and now the insomnia has started again. I’m at my wits end. It started just before I got my period so I’m wondering if I didn’t have periods (i.e. having the coil) that would stop the insomnia 🤷‍♀️ I’m not even sure if I could have the coil as my womb ruptured during labour with my 2nd (and last) child, 14 years ago. I’m 50 and went 3 months with no period last year but then they came back and the insomnia started.

Blimey I'm sorry to hear that about your womb. Women don't have an easy ride that's for sure! Did you try the coil in the end ? I'm thinking about it but hear so much discomfort and my last smear was agony

@marielouise9126 7 месяцев назад
@@redlady935 No, I haven’t tried the coil, I don’t think I would be allowed. It’s definitely cyclical with me, it’s between 2 and 4 nights a month now that I’m lucky if I get 4 hours sleep but the rest of the month thankfully I seem to be okay, it’s usually 2 days before my period. I take magnesium nightly as well as my HRT.

I have had the mirena in for a month. Awful pain, cramps and bleeding everyday since. I had a scan. Its in the right place. Should i persist?

I have it for the second time. Not worh for contraception. It's a gift from Heaven for medical problems. I would bleed to death if I didn't have it. It can pass 9 months till it's ok. Then, your period is bye bye or almost bye bye. The side effects are too many and too hard to worth only for contraception.
