The 705 and ATAS. Interesting combo. How do I tune it, you may ask? I tuned it with my FT-891, unplugged my 891 and plugged it into my 705! How about that. Hah. In all seriousness, I had planned to use my 891 but then decided I felt like using the 705 so just hooked it up and went with it. Made for a nice slow paced QRP CW Parks on the Air (POTA) activation at Tuskegee National Forest (K-4451).
Since there aren’t too many contacts in this video, I also added the callsigns on screen as they come in. I wish I could do that more often but on some of the long videos, it’s just too time consuming to do during editing.

Totally agree with using qrp to your advantage sometimes :) This last weekend I ran the Arrl Dx CW contest qrp and had a blast! I worked over 200 counties. Thank for sharing. Really enjoy your videos OM. 73 es cul.

I've only ever activated on CW using QRP. It can get a little slow, but I don't know how I'd handle some of the big pileups I've heard while hunting. I average about 30 contacts/hr, which gives plenty of time to look at nature and stuff. Someday I'll try more power for the experience.

I prefer QRP too. There’s nothing like a relaxing pace CW activating outdoors. 30/hr is a good solid rate! It’s fun sometimes to run more power with a full size antenna, but it’s certainly more intense than relaxing hah.

Just passed my test over here. Yet to get a call sign (bureaucracy) but I’m jotting down on paper as you send. CQ CQ P O T A POTA!!! yay DE W4ARB K I’m already having fun so you got a new sub. I think listening to RU-vid videos on 2x playback speed a lot recently has helped somewhat. No joke.

@@tomwright4450 Thanks Tom! So here in Japan you pass the test but do not get a call sign until you have registered your first ‘approved’ (made in Japan) radio at which point your station permit spawns into existence and thus your call sign is issued. In other words the operators license does not have a call sign. The equipped/permitted station operated by the licensed operator has the call sign. So I still have another few weeks of paperwork hoopla and I need to buy yet another radio... ;o) Because I can't register the radios I've been 'collecting' over the last few years. I had a quick look at your QRZ page. How do you find the Alinco DM-330MV noise wise? I'm not to bothered about 160m and perhaps 80m so a clean from 40m and up would be enough. 73 John
