Hi Mark...Thanks for watching and commenting. The bags are about 3/4 the size of a 24h, but not as bulging with contents obviously. The mains was a good allrounder in terms of spice level but I'm certain many British troops will be adding their own supply of Hot sauce to give it some more fire. The spork could come out again now? it was introduced around the same time as they introduced retort soups into the old boxed menus. (So made sense to include the soup spoon style spork) The soups have now gone, but the spoons remain... Have a happy Sunday too...ATB...Mick
It's hard to find those packages outside of the UK, and after the UK left the EU, many people no longer want to deliver them from the UK to the rest of Europe. Several surplus stores stopped delivering when they have to clear customs these days.
Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting. They are still quite rare in the UK, and very over priced compared to the 24h ORP. I am having similar problems with rations from Europe. Venders in Europe want ridiculous shipping prices, but I think many are taking advantage and just charging extra because they can? We have a couple of good sized venders based in the UK who seem to get reasonable supplies of European rations shipped in...then sell at a profit...then ship to me (so shipped twice and purchased twice) and they are still cheaper than European sellers selling to me direct?...makes no sense?...ATB...Mick
Starting my Sunday off proper with another Great Mich ration review. Looks like a good meal, but I must admit, I've never tried a Curry dish in my life! There are plenty of Indian restaurants in the large Metro a couple of hours away from my home, but I've never seemed to make it a priority to go try one out. I think it's about time I go see what I've been missing. See you next time Mich. 👍🍻
Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting...A "good" curry is well worth a trip. Unfortunately, its like many other cuisines, there are good restaurants and bad ones. If you do give one a try, and you don't like it, don't give up! it could be a bad restaurant and you were unlucky ....try a couple before deciding. My city is the first In the UK where native whites are the minority!...That said, it means we are absolutely spoiled for choice with world cuisines, and never far away from a good curry house or takeaway (take out). As a thought, if I got served this ration curry at a "real" curry house I would be very unimpressed!....but, as a shelf stable, retort pouched, mass produced ready meal.....It is OK...lol....ATB....Mick @@KevinSmith-yh6tl
Was there sultanas in that curry? Im mot a fan of sultanas in curry, it should be spicy, not sweet. Although i guess korma is pretty sweet, but not really a fan of korma either lol. It looked like a pretty decent meal all in all. Nice to see the fruit smoothie is still in the single meal. They took it out of the 24hr ration. Great review Mick :)
Hi Christine...Thanks for watching and commenting, Unfortunately, Yes... Sultanas. Agreed, I'm not much of a fan. Reminds me of the old "Vista" boxed curries from the 70's and 80's...(my Grandma told me about them.. 😂) luckily, there were only a couple so not to bad. The pureed fruit has changed. It now has more sugar, which I think makes it less enjoyable but still a way of getting some sort of fresh fruit in a ration.....ATB....Mick
Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting....lol...Yes, agreed... the "Nugget" bar would be great with rice paper, just like in the Polish rations fruit and cereal bars. Sometimes the British sesame seed bars could do with some too. Overall though, a fully edible ration and suitable for it's intention (8h hunger breaker)....ATB...Mick
Hi..Thanks for watching and commenting.. I know what you mean..mine was the old Biscuits Fruit when they were the old garribaldi Biscuits just repackaged. Not forgetting the tube of Rolo's..field currency at its best..lol..ATB...Mick
Hi Scott...Thanks for watching and commenting... I think I've eaten every British Army ration, and variant, since 1986....lol...makes me feel old...lol...ATB..Mick
Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, I would agree. They were moving away from sugar and chemical rich components but they are starting to make a return with these "Brown bag" rations....ATB...Mick@@CragScrambler
