I have been taking berberine now for about 3 weeks and my stomach is no longer bloated and alot flatter. I take 3 pills a day and highly recommend it. I am 52 and in menopause.
Berberine can interact with drugs that are broken down by the liver causing a decrease in effectiveness and an increase in side effects, such as ibuprofen, losartan, metoprolol, and tamoxifen. I started taking it and it does help with bloat! I just don't take it if I think I have a headache and might need Ibuprofen that day.
Another video I watched said if taking other medications, space them way out. So like prescribed/other meds, take those in the morning, then take the berberine in the evening with dinner or before bed. Or vice versa, whichever would work best for the person. And like is this video, it was advised to talk to your doctor first before even trying berberine.
I asked my doctor about berberine and ashwagadie (spelling) She is an Indian lady and explained how supplements are used in India as a complete replacement for medicines doctors prescribe, she knew ashwagadea very well. She said berberine is a replacement for metformin but I could take both. I stopped metformin as it gave me brain fog nausea and sleeping problems, I put up with them for years, my diabetes is lower than it has ever been after 6 months of berberine, lost a lot of my belly fat but a lot to go, gonna up my dose from 1x500mg a day to 2x 500mg a day after watching this.
AMPK stands for Adenosine Monophosphate Activated Protein Kinase. It also means that it will blunt the adaptation to your workout. Just to be clear it is not a good thing and most content creators forget to mention it. If AMPK is activated, it will turn off mTor which is responsible for protein synthesis.
Thanks a lot, I would definitely try Berberine! I hit a weight plateau (I'm 141 pounds and 5'2). I've lost 22 pounds. I go for low carb, train with The Sculpt Society, sometimes do a prolonged fasting, but weight loss has unfortunately stopped. I'm morally drained and feel so demotivated...
@kayleighduran3858 @teelaray I use Enzymedica and I do the auto prescription, saving a couple of bucks a month. I take it with my acv/lemon water first thing and with dinner. At first I was taking it 3 times a day, which is the recommended dose, with meals, but now only in the morning and at dinner.
🎉🎉 During fitness, using Wyghstore's foot bath to detoxify can speed up fat burning. This is how I succeeded. This is the best way to lose weight quickly.
Rachel, thanks for the video information. Berberine is a natural form of Metformin that works the same. I am a type 2 diabetic and take a small amount in the morning to help with my oral drugs. I tried Metformin and it makes me sick. If I take a full daily dose of berberine, it has the same effect. Nausea. My blood sugars shoot up in the AM because of insulin resistance, but if I awake about 5:30 and take my meds and berberine, they work to keep the spike at a minimum. I know you probably had to advise checking with your doctor, but I had to laugh. No doctor I have ever encountered will agree to take supplements. They don't believe in them. They only believe in big pharma! In my experimenting in twenty years of trying to eliminate or minimize my diabetes, I have only found two things that work. Berberine and intermittent fasting.
You are so right. It really is a shame how corrupt the medical system is. So great to hear you have found what works for you. Thank you for sharing as I know it will help others!
I found out about Berberine from a geeky friend who is on meds but their blood sugar wasn’t stabilizing so they got some high tech patch that monitored their blood sugar. The the doctor wanted him to add Berberine!! And it helped stabilize his blood sugar and lowered his dose of meds. He did have a problem when he skipped a meal with low blood sugar…. A medical doc asked him to try Berberine!
My doctor isn’t against supplements. He just always tells me that they’re largely unregulated and that’s why he doesn’t like to recommend them. It’s the manufacturers he doesn’t trust, not the supplements themselves
I’ve been taking berberine for a little over a month now, and I’m down a couple pounds but I think I’ve lost inches, because I’m considerably leaner, and my stomach is flatter finally! I take a different brand than Thorne and I’m doing 1500 mg a day. I’m not at home right now to go look at the bottle to see which brand it is. I’m 46 and never in my life have I struggled so bad to lose weight or slim down. I was doing weight lifting/strength training, high protein, low sugar, moderate healthy carbs, moderate fat grams, drink only teas and water, you name it. Everything was happening so slowly, but this berberine has kicked things up a notch!
OUTSTANDING! Thank you so much for sharing with all of us! It is so EXCITING to find a simple, healthy option that WORKS! Love hearing your experience. Thank you again!
@@offtomilan ok, the brand is: NutriVein, and it’s the Premium Berberine+ and it has Ceylon Cinnamon too. I take 2 capsules a day, one in the late morning and 1 in the afternoon, and that is 1200mg together.
Berberine is really special because it will work if you combine it with a healthy diet what a lot of people do is they take it and they just eat junk food and they don't see any results but when you combine it with a healthy diet it actually can move the scale quite dramatically, You see berberine actually does something to the mitochondria by making the cell waste feel which in return make sure metabolism raise in response to that so you automatically burn more fat when doing nothing This is called your resting metabolic rate. I'm a student studying cell biology so this is something that I'm very experienced in so far and it's really fascinating.
I completely agree that the brand matters! I lost about 20 lbs when I used Thorne Berberine. I switched to another brand and I stopped seeing results. I’m going back to Thorne.
I started dihydroberberine 3 weeks ago. Dr prescribed metforal (kind of metformin) but i decided to try the berberine before getting this prescription meds. I have not had one side effect on dihydroberberine and i dont eat as much. Ive actually been feeling pretty good. I found out i had insulin resistance and thats why i couldnt lose weight for two years
I’ve been taking Berb Elite for blood sugar. I’ve slimmed down, but that may also be due to IF and lower carb. I was taking after meal too! Thanks for the tips ❤
do uou ever get lightheaded on Berbelite? I do, and I’m wondering why. I’m assuming it’s from low blood sugar. Just wondering if you experience it too..
@@rebs8020 Hmm, not that I can recall. Sometimes I felt a bit nauseous but may have been unrelated. I’m on a break from it as I’m taking inositol. Do you have diabetes or pre-diabetes? If not maybe you shouldn’t take it. Definitely don’t want low blood sugar!
That’s great. I just bought the Solaray 500mg, will give it a try. If it doesn’t work, I’ll try the Thorne brand that other commenters say it worked for them.
I just started about three days ago and the brand I use is (Pure). I already notice that I am not as hungry and don’t think about eating as often. Have had no side effects at all. Lost weight on the popular shots, but I was so nauseous and sick all the time I just had to stop getting the shots decided to try this
Hey thanks girl! This is super helpful. I'm a 40 yr old woman and am definitely noticing my metabolism slowing down. Gonna try this and hopefully it will help me stay on track.
I took my first capsule at 8 am...15 minutes I had flushing and minor panic, but ate a quarter of my breakfast and was full. I'm sticking with it and documenting it on my channel
Ha, wait til you're in your 60s. Metabolism doesn't seem to exist ! Thanks for your input. I MUST try this because I'm soo tired of failing at everything else. Is it me or does everyone seem to be battling with weight problems these days ? It's a crazy world when you have to think about it all the time. Good luck to all of this with this product ! 🤞🇨🇦
My bloat went away on Berberine in 2 days! I was amazed 😮 There are many brands… some are not good. Mine is Toniq. Gut health will cause you gastric problems no matter what you take. I take a prebiotic for gut health… which is probably why I don’t get diarrhea or constipation.
I just started taking this day6 and I have been taking it after I eat so it doesn’t make me nauseous I will start taking it before see if that make a difference. Thanks for the video
So, what is the long term plan taking berberine? Shouldone just plan to take it for the rest of their life, or is there a successful strategy for stopping once goals have been achieved?
My late mum, died age 90, no pharmaceuticals ever, no exercises ever, cooked her meals and was contented, simple and loving. I am 76 now, I follow her advise. What she did and I do, mid morning, warm water, juice of one lemon and 1 table, ACV
ACV is THE holy grail. And I’m so sorry for your loss - sounds like she lived a meaningful life and I’m sure you miss her dearly. Thank you for sharing one of her pearls ❤️
@@gapeach7814 At 76 I have all my teeth except a couple molars at the back ,I drink my lemon, water,ACV with a straw, then I rinse with water, also clean my teeth with 3% peroxide, never tooth paste.xo
Thorne brand is too expensive here in Australia…about $65 I take a cheaper brand and I get all the benefits you included, though I did get constipated when I played around with the dose. I reducing inches from all over my body. A friend is on Ozempic and not reducing as quickly as I am. I don’t say anything because she has her doctor on a “pedestal “
Maybe I can try French lilac extract? I think I’m allergic to berberine as I’ve taken it twice (a couple of weeks apart) and for around a day after had a sore mouth/tongue/throat. I think I also am allergic to oragno oil and black seed oil.
When I started taking Berberine in early summer, I shed 8 pounds. Fast. I was so incredibly lean. Then Fall came, and so did cold and dark days and with that, more carb consumption and less movement in general. Well I’ve gained 8 pounds, around a pound a week, so for me I was all in because of the weight loss, now I’m not so sure. I will continue to take it until my next physical to see if my cholesterol has changed.
Congratulations on your weight loss, don't be discouraged by your weight gain. There probably is something that you can do to have Berberine continue to work for you. Maybe during the fall and winter, it might help you to either increase your dose or change to a different brand of Berberine. If Thorne brand wasn't working for me I would switch to Xymogen or another brand that my functional medical doctor would recommend. You might also need to take another supplement with Berberine to make it more effective for you. I find generally, conventional doctors don't know much about supplements and they don't interpret blood test results in the best way possible which is why I prefer to be advised on my supplement needs and my blood test results by my functional holistic doctor. I go to conventional doctors as well but prefer to combine the expertise of both types of doctors. I've been using Thorne Berberine for 6 weeks, I've lost 18 pounds. I take 2 with each meal. I am also doing intermittent fasting eating 2 meals a day or 1 meal a day (I always eat enough calories in a variety of vegetables, protein, and good fats at every meal). When I have 1 meal a day I only have 2 Berberine that day. I am going to start exercises that are mild such as chair yoga, and using a recumbent bicycle. I can't do a lot right now while I am in physical therapy for painful plantar fasciitis. In the fall and winter months, my appetite will definitely increase. I will continue to take Berberine but adjust either the brand and/or the amount that I take. I hope Berberine continues to help you. I watch several health channels on YT that are very helpful, maybe Dr. Eric Bergs's videos on this topic and topics related to it will be helpful to you.
Starting taking Berberine 3 weeks ago. I have noticed a slight change in my midsection. I was suffering from really bad perimenopausal hot flashes, however after 2 days of taking tips supplement, my hot flashes are completely gone!
ME TOO!!!😂😂😂 I thought it was just me. I had to stop taking my estrogen prescription!!😊 I will begin to spread the word since you have confirmed it's not just me, THAN YOU!!!
I too have been taking berberine and notice less bloat. I’m in menopause. The brand I use is Morphus berberine. This brand has supplements that are specifically for women in peri/menopause. Worth checking out.
I’m a male and was diagnosed as pre diabetes. I was prescribed metformin, but initially it caused diarrhea and afterwards, constipation. I stopped taking it. I’ve heard about berberine wondered whether to check it out or just wait till I do more research. I like your review on this and I’m encouraged to try it. I’m a Thorne fan as well and have been purchasing vitamins from them because of their reputation. I will try and give an update later. I did subscribe and looking forward to more of your reviews. Happy New Year! 🎊🎆🥳
@@jasonpatrick-x1k Well, the Berberine is a positive experience for me! Before taking it, my fasting blood sugar was at 124. After about a week, my fasting blood sugar dropped to 93. I was absolutely surprised! The night before, I had a big meal and cookies and milk as a snack before bed. I thought for sure it would be higher. I’m not having any negative side effects. I take it before a meal and sometimes with a meal. No diarrhea and no constipation. I will give another update after a month.
The National Institute of Health did a study on the potency of 16 Berberine brands available on Amazon. MOST HAD WAY LESS BERBERINE THAN THEY CLAIMED! Thorne was ok but a couple of others were better.

I suggest taking a look at the links and trying to figure out which one is the best quality just to be sure!
I'm 76 and began berberine several weeks ago. I'm on meds to lower my bp and cholesterol. For the first weeks, I had terrible indigestion snd burped like crazy, so I began taking it with meals and a great deal of water/weak instant decaf. Problem solved
Berberine is the only thing I've added to my diet. When I saw my doctor--about six weeks ago--my bp had dropped about forty points! I began reading even more about berberine and found out that it CAN definitely lower bp quite effective ly. For the record: I take 1 capsule daily The brand name is Zhou.
It is interesting how everyone has such a different experience with it. I am excited to learn more and more benefits because it appears we are just scatching the surface! Great to hear you are loving it, too!
You have to take it with food as it can burn a hole in your GI tract. I have an ER visit to prove it. My experience though, is that I have literally almost stopped eating. I cannot finish any food I eat. I’m still taking it though…. Lost 10 lbs in 25 days.
I have enjoyed taking Berber in for about six weeks and I am dropping weight left and right and I am at the beginning of menopause. I was getting the menopause belly and even though I was intermittent fasting it just wasn’t going anywhere. But since the Berberine; I am consistently losing weight every week and even in my chunky arms which I’ve always been a problem area. What I think it does is that it turbo charge is whatever you are doing. I do 5:2 intermittent fasting but I mix it up with 16 eight as well. But everything has gotten turbo charged. I think it’s a great supplement!💜
Thank you, Ms. Diva!!! That is outstanding. Bravo to you for pulling all the stops! Thank you for sharing your experience I’m sure it will help others!
Has anyone else noticed if you take Berberine and then relax/lie down, it makes you incredibly tired? Why does it do that? If I take Berberine I have to be active afterwards or else I want to take a nap.
I get better results with Berberine waiting 1-2 hours after a meal cause it seems to interfere with stomach acid production so when I take it with a meal, my food doesn't digest properly. I like how High Intensity Health suggests to take it when you are about to go into a fast. I had horrible indigestion and gallbladder pain taking it with meals. It is also supposed to be anti-parasitic so if your bloat was caused by parasites/candida, it may helped with that.
I didn't think this stuff did anything for your weight. Like I just saw some new articles about how it reduces arterial plaque like statins but they don't have the same horrible effect on your organs as statins. That's dope I didn't know this was also a diet pill
This has me inspired to make another video! There are so many benefits!!! I’ve even learned recently that it’s said to be anti-aging! Thank you for taking the time to comment!
I do think you need to be careful about emphatically saying to only take Berberine before meals. That is the most often recommended way to take it. But Berberine can cause quite severe digestive pain & upsets, in which case it is recommended to take it with food, not before. This was my case, I started taking it before meals & suffered extreme stomach & gut pain. I switched to taking it with my meal & the digestive issues seem to be resolved. So far so good……
My Nuropath told me that one reason for the big side effects is that you may have a candida. Like systemic candida in your gut. It’s worth checking out if you see big side effects.
I have been on Berberine for ten days and I am having problems with constipation. I mean severe constipation where I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital! PLEASE GUYS ANY SUGGESTION?
Sorry to hear that! I use flax ceeds to prevent constipation. About twice a week but you can do it Daily. I take half a cup in one glass or bowl of water, put in the fridge for the night, then eat/drink it in the morning. Add some juice for taste. Hope it works for you as Well. 🥰 Try to Google other similar suggestions perhaps. Best wishes!❤️
I too take berberine and notice less bloat. I’m in menopause. The berberine product I take and love is Morphus brand berberine. This brand has great super high quality supplements specifically for women in menopause.
That is frustrating! A few things to keep in mind, before you decide to give up entirely, for many it does take a few months to notice a difference. It may also help to take before your meals. It can also be difficult to stay consistent at times in taking it twice per day. I’ve also learned that some people may notice weight redistribution ahead of weight loss. That is, they notice they are leaner but may not see it reflected on the scale.
@@gabrielablackwell5102 i took it diligently for over 3 months, ate healthy and I exercise. Still didn’t see any weight loss or and change in body appearance.
I am also taking the Thorne. Started almost 2 months ago. I take 2 200mg capsules after evening meal. I'll start taking them before the meal and see if I notice any better results. You said 500 mg but how is that accomplished when the capsules are 200mg?
I just started taking it regularly too and hadn’t connected my slimmer waistline to Berberine. I also started taking NMN a couple of months ago too. It’s hard to tell what’s driving the results because I take so many supplements and do a variety of exercise. I researched berberine and was pleased to learn it has many other benefits than weight loss.
Ahhh yes! I’m with you! It’s so fun to explore supplements but hard to keep track of what’s doing what! I have fallen off berberine now and then and can even see a correlation with that - seeing the impact when I STOP taking something!
@@fishchick72 type in David Sinclair & you’ll have loads of videos explaining it but the best effect comes from good quality nmn so you need to research for the best you can afford.
I was prescribed metformin for weightloss & had the most severe stomach pain within 24 hours, it even woke me up during the night. I don't know if berberine has the same side effects but if so I would NOT recommend it. Metfomin (for me) was unbearable!!
Thank you so much for this. I've had a bottle of these in my cabinet for a couple of months and didn't open them due to not being sure about it. But I watched your video, and it was fantastic. I feel more confident now on how to take it and when. And I've saved your body gua sha vid too. New subscriber here for sure 🎉❤
It is doing so good in weight reduction that I’m scared they godna do it illegal. This is common with substances that work too good, they can be threat to diet or healthy industry
Isn’t that a shame? If I have any hope it’s that NAC was banned and then the ban was lifted. Thankfully, with social media word travels fast and it’s easier to throw a fit!
Yes, Thorne is a good brand overall. I really like them.... don't love the taste of their green juice (the powder) though. So how does Berberine compare to Catalyst Gold in regards to weight loss and appetite craving control, etc.... ?
I was thinking that’s probably why I didn’t notice much in the cravings front bc I take catalyst gold. I would typically think, probably don’t need to take CG anymore because of berberine, but then again there are so many anti-aging/beauty benefits with CG. So I am taking both.
I started berberine a few months ago, and the same thing happened to me, I have lost my stomach, I can now tuck my shirts in, and I haven't been able to do that in years. Highly recommend this. I am taking the same brand.
My experience with Berberine was terrible. First time I took it, and keep in mind this was just after ONE supplement - a few hours later, I was sicker than I have ever been in my life! As in vomiting for 24 hours, I couldn't keep anything down, not even water. Okay - fast forward a few months - I figure I'll try it again! 🙄Maybe the other time I tried it, I became violently ill due to something else........SOOOO, again I took ONE supplement, and lo and behold I started puking my guts out once again, (sorry TMI), but this time I was so dehydrated, I had to get an IV to restore fluids. No idea why my body rejected it so violently, as if it was poison. 🤔So suffice it to say, Berberine is definitely not for everyone, as you mentioned - but I'm glad you and others are finding benefits from it! 😊
@@candiswaddle3234 maybe, however I know it was a high quality brand because I bought it from a natural foods/supplement store and it was quite expensive. I can’t recall the brand name though.
I can vouch for the Thorne brand. The supplement was out in my usual supplement store so I used a different “pure Berberine” product, not the same and more expensive! I will go back to Thorne!
Be careful with taking berberine long term Rachel. Not saying it is dangerous or anything but I have heard that it can deplete potassium, raise blood pressure, and destroy some of the intestinal flora over time. Of course this might not be true at all, but may be something to be aware of and check your BP and mineral levels every so often while taking it. Thanks for sharing your experience & you're looking great! x
Thank you so so much. I’m so glad you shared this. One of the themes I’ve been thinking of lately is how EVERYTHING has risk and we must be so careful not to fall into being casual - especially around supplements. What a great reminder you bring up. Thank you 🙏
I’ve also read this. I take Berberine for two months , then give it a rest for 2 months. I believe no supplements should be taken continuously. Maybe go supplement free for a week in the month, or at least the weekend. They can become counterproductive without a break. I’m not a professional, but have done a lot of research over the years.
I started taking it about two months ago and I found that I can't take more than 400mg a day because two cleaned my system out too much, if you get my drift. Not terrible but a little too close for comfort. No nausea, I take it right after eating lunch. But the 1 pill seems to be working just right. I can tell I'm losing inches, stomach is flatter, and feel stronger. I buy the NOW brand with MCT oil for better absorbtion.
@@RundownwithRachel no, didn't want to take the chance. All the information I've seen on it say to take with food, or right after eating to lesson chances of stomach upset.
So I'm early 40s and would just like to take this for the cool benefits and weight loss just to lose 7 lb. Do you have to be going through menopause or have insulin resistance (which I very well may have but don't know?) or can anyone try it?
First week on Thorne Berberine done no side effects, hot flashes almost completely gone, cravings wayyy better, better sleep, took 2 before breakfast with Vitamin C and Probiotic, waited 30 mins to eat gonna test taking it at night with dinner this week
I just started Berberine yesterday and I have been bloated and also had diarrhea from the first tablet i took. Am almost discouraged but I will keep using for a week to see
Also bothered my stomach. Saw some videos and doctors recommended two things. First try it every other day and second try it with a digestive enzyme. I’m going to start it up again this week.
I'd love to know if you've tried other brands of Berberine or if you'd be willing to rate other brands? If anyone has used it to aid with H-Pylori I'd be interested.
It effects people differently. The better model is Dihydro Berberine which gets thru the stomach lining easier/quicker than Berberine, which leads to lesser amounts taken being more beneficial.
I started taking Berberine for my blood sugar. I’ve been pre diabetic (in and out) for the last 10-15 years. I have an autoimmune that generally leads to diabetes. I have no appetite and when I’m stressed I don’t want to eat. And I was 40 lbs overweight. My autoimmune has caused me to become food intolerant and allergic, so no wheat, rice, coconut, most grains. I gave up sugar 23 years ago. I haven’t eaten junk food since I was a teen. So I started walking and I lost 30 lbs but with no change in my diet or miles walked I began to gain weight. I dialed back my walk but was still 35 lbs overweight. But I had a blood panel with my glucose really high (still prediabetic range). A friends doctor wanted him to take berberine. So I got some and 8 - 10 days later I redid my blood panel. It turns out I was dehydrated in the 1st panel (I did add electrolytes) but my glucose was out of prediabetic range! I don’t weigh myself a lot as it can lead to restrictive eating. But then I got Covid (I was really sick with nausea and a heightened sense of smell). I lost 10 lbs much too fast and it showed on my face. I was so exhausted that after I tested negative I added beef into my diet. I accepted that I’d probably put the weight back on. Instead I lost 2 more lbs! I do seem to be losing 2 lbs a month. Nothing earth shattering but much better for my skin! I have major gut problems but had 0 issues with Berberine but I take it after my meals! I’ll try taking it before. I’m still battling some long covid but I do feel healthier than precovid except when I get covid-exhausted. I take WellBetX 500 mg by natural factors. I view my weight loss to my body getting healthier which is great.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Incredible! I’m so intrigued by your journey especially related to autoimmune issues. I myself have been eliminating grains and it’s incredible. Also, I’m continuing to learn more and more about the benefits of berberine and look forward to sharing. I take the same brand as you and based on my research it’s one of the BEST!
I've been taking it for a few weeks. What I've noticed is that it makes me not want to eat....I have to force myself to eat something. I think what I'll start doing is drink a lot of veggie based green juice to get in my nutrition plus walk more. I do have a lot of pounds to lose so I'll try this routine for at least 30 days and see how it goes.
Thank you for taking the time to share! It amazes me the different experiences everyone has! Encouraging to read yours! Keep up the great work of self care and thank you again!
I was excited about this but many of the most recent amazon reviews talk about a recent formula change that is less effective. Thoughts? Example: ‘DIFFERENT,LOW QUALITY, BIOENGINEERED FORMULATION This is not the same formulation. This is no longer a natural product. The active ingredient (barberry root) has been cut by more than half and replaced by phytoestrogens; high omega 6 fillers; and a diluted, opaque, commodified, and bioengineered phantom product far from actual barberry.’
Oh thank you for sharing! Can see what you are saying now with the photos showing how the formula has changed. How sneaky! I will have to reach out to the company. If I find something out I will report back! Let me see if I can find something out! I may just have to switch my supplement!
@@RundownwithRachelthanks for looking into this. Its something I would love to take but obviously only if its what it says it is. One of the reviews targeted the formula change date as July 2023. Not sure if its accurate but might help in your research. 🙏
I just ordered this brand m. I didn't know there was a formula change. I've never used Berberine before so I'm not sure if I want to try this new formula uhhhhhhh
@@jenniferschallenberg1574 i know how annoying that is. I still found even with the formula change it’s working for me. I reached out to the company to learn more and waiting to hear back. If you can take it as much as 30 min before your meal.
This is what they told me: We recently have reformulated Berberine (1,000 mg) to now included Berberine Phytosome in addition to Berberine HCl. Thorne’s new Berberine is a dual-formula that contains the most researched form, berberine HCl, paired with a highly absorbable phytosome to provide a wide-range of health and wellness benefits. Inclusion of Berbevis®, which utilizes patented phytosome technology, helps increase the bioavailability of berberine and optimizes the extract’s metabolic benefits. Clinical studies on the phytosome material allow us to make claims for a wider range of benefits and customers. The gut microflora benefits of berberine are enhanced by the berberine HCl form, as more of it remains in the GI tract. We feel that this combination provides the more benefits to our doctors and customers over a single berberine formulation. Each 2-capsule serving of Thorne’s Berberine formulation delivers 450 mg of Berberine HCl, and 550 mg of Berberine Phytosome standardized to contain 28-34% berberine. Berberine HCl is at least 85% berberine so there would be at least 382 mg of berberine in 450 mg of berberine HCl. www.thorne.com/products/dp/berberine-500
DHL Berberine (DihydroBerberine) has more bioavailability and also you can look for a formula that contains Ceylon Cinnamon. I took the Thorne formula but switched and have noticed a big difference and no side effects.
You ladies are lucky! I took Berberine for 4 days and I was in so much pain. It caused my stomach lining to be inflamed and I was extremely bloated 😢😢 so I had so stop taking them.
I’m sorry to hear that. How frustrating! It took me quite some time to notice and I have heard that’s been the case for others as well. Some people notice immediately whereas in our case it may just take some time. There are different opinions about when the best time to take it is - and may be worth exploring that.
I'm sad I can't take this. I have IBS-C and berberine works by slowing down food digestion to reduce appetite. Can't take a chance on it making my symptoms worse. Glad it worked for you though!
I have IBS-C too, and I noticed it said side effect can be constipation and I think it might but I also take smooth move tea and that help fix that problem but I just started taking it like day6 for me. I hope it works in helping with my IBS and help with weight loss
@@leslieterry5788 I am a STRONG fan of Smooth Move! 🖤 It's a staple in my tea cabinet!! I drink a cup at night while I watch tv on the bed & when I wake up I drink a glass of water to get hydrated, start my coffee and within an hour I'm making a trip to the bathroom. Eating a little more fiber helps with it too. Every once in awhile it doesn't work the next morning & I do another round a 2nd night too.
I can appreciate what you are saying and I’m with you that it’s important to be skeptical when anyone is pushing anything. But in general, I don’t think all supplements are created equal. Verdict is still out on which Berberine supplement is the BEST and something I’m exploring.
I started taking "Doctor Recommended" Berberine PLUS". The plus being Royal Jelly. Instructions say to take 2 600mg with meals once per day. So, I don't know if it's the royal jelly or too high of dose or because it's with meals. But, I gained 2 lbs per week for 3 weeks. I HAD to stop taking it. I'll try THORNE to see if it works for me.
