As someone who works in publishing, I wish you the best. There's so many excellent games we end up not funding because it's not "company policy" or not "profitable". I hope some of those end up seeing the light of day regardless of the label, so seeing a new player in the indie publishing scene makes me hopeful Good luck Dunkey ! Hopefully you have surrounded yourself with people that can support you in this endeavour.

I am just gonna publish my own GOOD games now and thus monetize my RU-vid audience. Please stop harrassing me with these shit games." Video Game Publishers: "Are you sure you won't just promote this mobile freemium game for 200,000$ ?" *Surprised Pikachu Face*
"I played 69 MORE Bigmode Souls-Likes you've _definitely_ heard of" PS I really like your Displates, they remind me of the Super Mario RPG character renders that filled up the old Player's Guide and that I've always loved so much
@@anotherpersonfromnorfolk1587 I mean if malphite didn't deserve to be gunned down in the street like the degenerate he is, then Dunkey wouldn't have said it
I can't believe the guy who has the world record on Bowser's Big Bean Burrito is making his own games company!!! Will any of us even be able to beat them?
Dunkey reccomended Freedom Planet on twitter when Sonic Mania got delayed on PC as a means of compensation (needless to say its very Sonic like but with more emphasis on combat). That came out in 2014. Freedom Planet 2 came out 2 months ago and its arguably better than the first game. I'm bringing this up cause Freedom Planet as a whole is VERY underrated...like omg the physics and art have so much work put into them! It was basically Sonic Mania before Sonic Mania was a thing! That and it technically has the dunkey seal of approval (not enough to make it into a video but still) so you should at least see if its your thing if this comment got your interest! lol :P
Dunkey, I really hope this reaches you somehow. I'm the lead game developer in a team of my friends. I love the idea of your company and as a longtime fan since your league days, I've always been blown away at your ability to analyze the design of games and break down their strengths and weaknesses. I think we would really benefit from your input and would hope to earn your seal of approval for our initial release. Please let me know if you'll consider letting us pitch you.
@@jlu7453 Hey guys :) Sorry for not updating sooner, I didn't hear back yet. I kind of knew it was a longshot but it was too cool an opportunity not to shoot our shot!
"Please note: We are not accepting any games that use NFTs, crypto or blockchain." Praise dunkey, such an excellent move. I can't wait to see what gets published xx
It feels as though everything touched by Dunkey gets enriched, and/ or enjoyable to some extent, and I am so happy to see this announcement. The man is clearly Midas's descendant churning out gold standard quality. I very much look forward to an era of "BIGMODE PUBLISHED GAMES" and all the positivity it shall bring starting from the both of you.
holy shit a Dunkey gaming company is an absolute dream. I'll forever be grateful to Dunkey for introducing me to incredible indie games (i.e Enter the Gungeon, Celeste, and Hollow Knight).
I love to see Dunkey use his influence to make an impact on the world he loves rather than complain about its direction. I hope to be involved, but regardless I'll be rooting for BIGMODE every step of the way. Keep it real!
You're going to be the best thing that happened to the publishing industry in years. Whatever happens, that will always be true, even if the people in the industry don't realise it.
Best of luck. With huge corporations swallowing up all of the studios these days, I feel that this is something truly necessary for continued progress. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out!
The bright side is, the more that those small studios get eaten up, the more that the *employees* who want to actually make indie games and not work for a megacorp subsidiary will become available.
I just started watching your videos again recently since I've found myself playing games again, and you've already inspired me with those. See you do this is furthering that inspiration even more. Thanks for being around all these years dude, I'm hyped to see how huge this is going to get.
Sent in my portfolio. Hearing about your creative journey inspired me to make shit, and as a result, I see myself getting better all the time, honing more and more into my creative voice. Whether this is my time or this is my rejection letter phase, a bigmode thank you goes out to you, mista dunk.
20 years from now I’ll be playing a AAA bigmode game and suddenly remember it all started with Shawn getting murdered by a ghost because he went bigmode
Donkey I don’t know what you’ve done to me but you’ve awoken this inner determination to finally use this creativity I’ve held inside myself all my life and start grinding out something for once. It’ll be awhile but I will be coming to you first man wether you like it or not. You are an inspiration and what you’re doing I hope not only has effected me to do something for once about my dreams. Thank you
This is the final stage of the gaming RU-vidr career, and man I’m so glad that it’s you who made it. I can’t think of anyone better to run an indie game publishing company than the dunk himself
Been following you since your Cho Graph video. I'm usually pretty cynical when it comes to anything business related, but if you say you're gonna do something I believe it. Best of luck to you and Leah. Show em what a real donkey can do.
@@bigchunky7499 But.. but we need validation from repeating overused phrases to compensate for the lack of critical thinking. How else are we supposed to get our dopamine kick ? 😫😫😫 * anxiety overload * 😫😫😫
I've been watching your channel for a little over ten years now. Thanks for all the laughs and informative content. You really have a gift for highlighting great indie games. I wish you and Leah the best of success.
i appreciate anyone who commits time, dedication and resources to the future and betterment of the industry. as a game developer myself, thank you dunkey for using your platform in this way.
After being a big fan of your content for a long time, It's wonderful to see that you are willing to use your talents to bring great indie games into the spotlight. I feel like there is no better person to do it. Best of luck!
I love this, I remember laughing my ass off watching my boi dunkey when he only had a couple thousand views, glad to see your finally getting the recognition you deserve bayyybee

This announcement actually made me happy. I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now, I think the first vid I saw of yours was the one about game critics. When I saw that video it struck me how intelligent and funny you are and I’ve been a fan ever since. So much so that whilst I have had to stop playing video games as often as I would like, I still watch every vid you put out. You also made me buy a Nintendo Switch AND a Nintendo Wii U off of eBay so I could play Mario again. I wish you and Leah the best fortune with this endeavour. You’re an inspiration, Jas…Videogame.
When I saw the title of this video pop up on my notifications, I figured it was a joke, or it would be a thought exercise, or a theme of the video somehow. A month later finally had time to catch up on some Dunkey and now beyond thrilled to find out it is a real announcement!! Your vids are outstanding, love your feel for the industry and your honesty, & can’t wait to see what you guys can do in this new venture! Count me in as a supporter, best of luck!
OH BOY, I have been waiting for this! I spent years crafting my own little game but I always lacked opportunity. I feel this will be my big breakthrough. My idea is a turn-based J-RPG with farming simulator elements. Dunkey will love it!
@@matthewjones6786 That’s a good and legitimate question. I think Dunkey will be looking for people who are passionate about their project, as he said in the video, but I think he’ll also want to try and push games that make him feel passionate about playing them. So farming sims and the like are probably out unless they have some innovative new mechanic or the cast of characters is really charming.
@@matthewjones6786 I'll put it like this. If Bigmode---against all odds---releases a "turn-based J-RPG with farming simulator elements" you bet your ass it'll be some groundbreaking good shit.
To be fair, Undertale (one of the games presented as incredible in this video) was a turn-based game. In the video Dunkey reviewed it, he said the gameplay was fun despite being turn based. So just make whatever your videogame is fun and different and it has a shot.
I love you for using your resources and platform to do something like this. I hope this inspires other content creators who have gained a surplus of money to do something like this as well or at least invest into others who are.
I love hearing stories about how Devolver Digital were just a handful of people working from home mostly getting to know developers remotely while having no offfices or corporate bs to worry about. Dunkey has social media presence and a platform to advertise games through already, I sincerely hope this works out well since it will feel a hell of a lot better for someone who knows games over the usual AAA publisher that only know business and couldn't care less if the game were good as long as it makes money.
Pretty much how I feel too except any square enix game. idc how corny or terrible the writing is i’m gonna play the shit out of every jrpg they make and love every second of it
looking back i can't believe we heard dunkey say "i'm gonna publish the good games" and act like that was a perfectly reasonable sales pitch as a game publishing studio
I have purchased many indie games based on dunks recommendations and haven't regretted a single one. Same as I have seen dunkey praise some of my favorite indie titles years after their release. I love this idea. I just hope it works out for Leah and dunk.

Genuinely, this gets me pretty excited. You've never had a habit of mincing words and a lot of games I'd have potentially never heard of are some of my favorites since you've introduced them. Someone to act as a megaphone for games that have great ideas and passion put into them but lack a voice I think should always be encouraged, and I'm looking forward to see what comes out of this.
Seeing Dunkey be this forward, serious, and self confidant is really refreshing, and I can tell it's all very genuine. I'm super excited to see BigMode become a BigDeal
@@Laxhoop I don't know. Usually the dunk is making a joke every other thing he says, and so it's nice to have a straightforward and direct dunkey on display here.
Insanely impressed! What an amazing undertaking. I can’t wait to see games come out of Big Mode that are elevated to the next level. Go get ‘em Dunkey!!
I can never tell when Dunky’s being serious or joking. Thought there would be some sort of joke twist at the end but no, the man actually seems to be going for this so props to him!
I hope Dunkey doesn't get discouraged over the twitter trolls who really want this company to fail for some odd reason. I absolutely cannot wait to see what y'all have in store!
100% Agree with you and have felt the exact same way for years. 90% of what they toss out these days, especially from AAA developers is cash-grabbing garbage. Indy games is where it's at, but many don't get the attention they deserve. Hopefully you and your company change that.. Good luck!
With all the games Dunkey has put me on over the years, it only makes sense that he starts a publishing company. Good luck, Dunkey, Leah, and every game you work with!
It took watching this video to make me realize that more than half of the indie games I have played in the last 5 or 6 years is either because of Dunkey or Vinny Vinesauce. Damn!
Dunkey, your channel is so much satire and humor, when you stop and talk serious about something I’m always so pleasantly surprised about the genuine and passionate guy you seem to be. Some of my favorite games are indie games, but as life gets busier and I get older, I have less and less time for trying different indie games out and like you said, it’s like a loot crate. I’m excited to play the specially curated and hopefully kickass games BigMode puts out. Thank you for the many years of work you’ve invested in the games industry in making all of us laugh. (Also, please start making good videos again. Please, it’s been two years.)
at first i was hesitant at the decision of a game publishing company rather than a game developing company but the more i think about it the more i understand it was absolutely the right decision. dunkey's the best. he's confident in himself in ways that matter - he understands good games. doesn't know how to make em tho. too bad he's nitpicking and biased. best of luck
Dunkey thank you for making RU-vid videos that actually matter and entertain. I've watched every single one and you have shown me so many games I would not know about
You can just feel the passion and dedication that Dunkey is putting into the industry, into the art form, nothing but love and best wishes from me Dunk!
Hey dunkey, long time watcher, semi first time commentor. Just wanted to say you're a shining light in the world of soulless social media and I wish you nothing but the absolute best in your campaign! I'm always rooting for you BABBBYYYYYY
I always felt like RU-vid didn’t reward content creators enough for the quality of content; only the quantity watched. It’s good to see you build this on the respect you’ve earned from your viewers. Good luck mate - can’t wait to see what drops first.
I been watching this dude for over 7 years... I'm so happy for him. Dunkey, I wish you the best. I don't always agree with your takes, but I have absolute faith you'll give your all to assist in making genuine art a reality. Looks like you finally went Bigmode for real.
feels like a natural progression to the channel! I've been watching you for years, and I'm excited to know which games are Dunkey approved off the bat. Good luck, I'll be cheering you on!!
This will be a blessing to indie game developers. I think theres no one better qualified to judge and find potential great games than someone who has a true passion for gaming and had been playing them for years. I've watching the channel for almost 10 years (probably xD) and cant wait to see Big Mode succeed and help passionate developers. Good luck!
Same here too. Honestly that was the good ‘ol time. And you know he his speaking the truth when he says « and the one that need to come back ». We need Warcraft TD back !!!
Dunkey my guy I am so stoked for this. This gave me goosebumps. You 100% have always kept your integrity i still to this day give you insane props for giving league the finger and walking away. I know anything i see with this cute frog on it is going to be quality. Maybe not for me directly but something to definitely take a good serious look at. I've essentially stopped buying games because I'm tired of being disappointed. This may be what i need to rediscover my passion for the art form.
Are we talking about the same dunkey who tried to leverage his status as a public figure to get himself unbanned on League for telling someone to get cancer and die? And walked away after Riot rightfully told him to fuck off? That Dunkey?
If I ever get my ideas out in practice, Bigmode sounds like the perfect publisher for me. Bigmode is such a wonderful concept and I wish you the best of luck with it, I hope to be a part of it one day.
I heard about Big Mode via the Jimquisition's video and was worried about the comment section, but I'm happy to see that there's actually a lot of love. Good luck Dunkey! I believe in you two making the choices you think is best. Good luck also, games industry can be tough to work in, but you'll never know if you don't try!
@@AltUniU oh yeah, one of the instances of hate come from jrpg simps. They're all up-in-arms over his ribbing on Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and how he isn't worthy of this opportunity to be a publisher. It's hilarious.
his channel stands for humor, not objective game reviews or standards a company with the sole objective of "publish games funny man likes" is the most self-indulgent thing i've seen from a game reviewer ever
