I wanted to show here what I do every morning prior to seeing my first patient. I take pride in the cleanliness of my surroundings. I want my patients to feel the area is sanitized and clean prior to them sitting down. This wiping down of all the surfaces happens in between every single patient as well. We have to sanitize/disinfect and sterilize all surfaces and instruments used. We have been trained to disinfect not only keep us healthy, but each person that is on our chair as well. We have to worry about spreading a multitude of different viruses and pathogens. They can range from herpes simplex virus, hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, the common cold, flu, strep throat, etc. People have presented in the past with a cold/flu and we have cleaned their teeth. This was very common two years ago. Now, not at all. People are nervous to tell us they have allergies. Those cannot be spread person to person by the way. The point is, if you are waiting on us to come and get you from the waiting room, chances are we are spending 5-10 minutes disinfecting and sterilizing our room and instruments. We appreciate your patience and hope you appreciate our time needed to keep our areas disinfected and clean.

What is a periodontal endoscope used for? Thank you
@holistichygiene

It is used to treat periodontal disease. We use a small camera to visually see down in the periodontal pocket. This allows us to remove all the bacteria, infection, and tartar under the gumline completely without surgery. Instead of doing scaling and root planing blindly, and guessing and hoping we remove all the infection, our office specializes in using the endoscope for visual SRP. We get the same results, for a fraction of the cost, of periodontal surgery.

@@holistichygiene thank you for your reply! Really appreciate it. Would I need to book with a periodontist to get this treatment? Thank you in advance for you advice and help 🙂

Your very welcome. There are some general dentist offices that have it. But, yes a periodontist would have it. I would do a search for periscope in your area and see what you can find. If not, you can always call around and ask.
