🔬Blueprint Protocol: protocol.bryanjohnson.co/
🫒Blueprint Olive Oil: blueprint.bryanjohnson.com/
Two years and millions were spent developing Blueprint, an algorithm that takes better care of me than I can myself. Now, you can build your Autonomous Self as well: blueprint.bryanjohnson.co/
Blueprint is a public science experiment to determine whether it’s possible to stay the same biological age. This requires slowing down aging processes as much as possible and then reversing the aging that has happened. Currently my speed of aging is .76 (DunedinPACE). That means for every 365 days each year, I age 277 days. My goal is to remain the same age biologically for every 365 days that pass.
I openly share (for free!) my diet, exercise and other protocols so that others can benefit and try to improve upon what I’m doing. I also openly share my health data as data is better than human opinion at guiding decision making. You can find everything here: blueprint.bryanjohnson.co/
On the surface, Blueprint may seem like something about health, wellness and aging. To me, it’s a philosophy.
Blueprint was born when years ago I would overeat every night as a result of the stress of everyday life: being a startup entrepreneur, a father to three young kids, leaving a religion I was born into, chronic depression etc.. Every night, at 7 PM, there was nothing I could do to stop myself from committing this self-harm of overeating. This was rapidly degrading my health and wellness and speeding up my pace of aging. Eventually, I playfully fired ‘Evening Bryan’, and revoked his decision-making authority from 7 PM - 10 PM every night.
I imagine a future where we would not accept self-harm as the norm. The idea of systematically and reliably avoiding self-harm may be one of the most important goals of the 21st century. How silly is it that we do things, individually and collectively that harm our self-interests? How odd is it that we are so normalized to it that we even cheer it on?
Our best selves, and a positive shared future, may start with this simple principle. Blueprint is the plan for that.

Young me would be in tears watching this video. I’ve been gaslit by bad doctors nearly my entire life. Now that I’m making it out here, and have gotten out of the hood, I can finally get specialists to look into my heart palpitations and other issues I’ve been concerned about. Thank you for sharing your journey. People don’t get you; they place all these labels on you, but I think I get you more than most do. You’re so much more simpler than what people make you out to be. You just want to be the best you that you can be, and feel as great as you can as you age- prolong your life for as long as you naturally can. It’s inspiring, honestly. For the past year, I’ve been too scared to see what my first ticking time bomb was but this motivated me to man up and face it head on.

On his website he explains how having severe depression in the past, and always feeling burnt out and tired pushed him to find a way out. And that way just so happened to lead him into the anti aging thing. He says to Imagine how much we could do in our lives if we weren’t feeling so sick and depressed all the time.

Hey man. I also struggle with it. All the lies and self destructing behavior being normalized, alchohol, smoking, bad food, bad exercise etc. Health is very important and work on it before its too late. Luckily there are lots of treatments and ways to fix certain things they might be hidden or in plain sight. Lot of doctors do it only for the money they dont care about helping people. Example is i had warts my whole life and taking a few drops of a herbal product and in 30 days everything went away. Its crazy because ive been going to the doctor my whole life for this issue. Crazy world and times we are living in.

In traditional Japanese martial arts, we are obsessed with posture, because that is the foundation of generating power. And honestly, the Japanese learned it from the Chinese. This is part of what is called koryu and nowadays it’s been little understood because it generally wasn’t publicly taught. It’s not easy training but solo exercises and partner exercises exist.
@perkosherrigh7243

@@perkosherrigh7243 Yup, no power in Judo, no power in Karate, nevermind the fact that the principle of generating power from your hips and not your bicep when punching is exactly the same in karate and boxing, the difference is karate is a martial art with a lot of focus on tradition and discipline while boxing is a sport and nothing else. Judo is a full contact martial art / sport, Karate too depending on the style. IE Kyokushin is full contact with the only limitation being no punching the head, you are however allowed to kick the head. You're simply just being willfully ignorant Honestly I don't know why I even bother replying to you in this manner because you're probably not worth it, but I hope you can get over that disgusting ego of yours and face reality and that reality is that even if you've had ''about 40 boxing fights'' it changes nothing, it doesn't change the fact that Judo and Karate are both full contact no BS depending on who you train with and where you train. I've seen a lot of boxing gyms full of idiots punching each other full power constantly thinking that makes them badass, fact is you're hurting yourself for no reason as you don't need to go 100% all the time.

I've always found people with good posture to look odd. Not that they were strange looking, it just intuitively stands out to me from most people's slouching. I remember one of the actual good moments in Twilight was a posture joke. The part where Bella became a vampire and the experienced vampires are coaching her on ways to blend in. At one point she was told "don't t sit up like that" because "humans don't do that".

Amazing!! I also had this. It was corrected by risky surgery- styloidectomy and shaving C1 Transverse process (all done bilaterally). I also had severe bilateral transverse sinus stenosis from the buildup of pressure and that part was actually repaired first with stenting). I feel that our phones and our posture are killing us. We need to get our posture under control. Oddly, enough, that is the last thing I am fixing.

I've slept on the floor for years (well, on a yoga mat, although recently I upgraded to a thin mattress topper on top of a tatami mat). Ever since getting rid of my mattress, all of my posture issues went away. About a year before I got rid of my mattress for good, I got rid of my pillow because I kept on waking up with neck pain. Now, my mattress topper (and previously, my yoga mat) provide all the necessary cushion for my head to feel comfortable. --- If anyone reading this comment is interested in trying this out, my suggestion to go slowly. Don't throw away your mattress and/or pillow right away! You have been sleeping on soft surfaces your whole life and you need a period of adjustment. When I first made the transition, I put my mattress to the side, gathered every blanket I could find, and stacked them on top of each other, and slept on top of that. Every two weeks or so, I stripped away a layer. Now a days, I can only sleep on a mattress for three days before I start to feel discomfort in my back, and I can only last a few hours with a pillow propping up my neck. People want to know if I ever get uncomfortable sleeping sideways, and the answer is no - my neck is used to stretching out past my shoulders and onto my "mattress". In fact, my body naturally stretches at night, so I don't have to wake up with tension and do "morning stretches". I also find that sleeping on the floor prevents my body from adopting weird poses because the hardness of the floor serves as a deterrent. --- I mentioned that I have a tatami mat now, and it's one of the best purchases I have made. A tatami mat is a floor mat traditionally used in Japan (traditionally, Japanese people sleep on the floor too) and it is usually placed beneath a futon, which is like a thin mattress (which I personally find to be too thick for me (usually 3 inches thick)). Instead of a futon, I went on etsy and ordered a custom mattress topper, made from organic cotton and filled with natural wool, so that I have a very thin layer of cushion between my body and the tatami mat. I then ordered a custom duvet cover on etsy made from organic linen to place over my topper, so that I can wash it weekly.

This is absolutely fascinating to me. I have had migraines for ever and when I got my MRI results the Dr asked me if I was ever in a major accident. A major accident because I had stenosis in my neck and upper vertebrae. I was really shocked and surprised because I have never had any injuries or accidents that I could think of. I have horrible posture. Now it makes me wonder if my migraines and stenosis are a result of it. In the spirit of science and experimentation with data. I will be going on a 60 day journey. My 60 day experiment will include - full body stretching exercises daily and exercises to improve my posture. I will record how many migraines and tension headaches I get and compare it to my previous occurrences ( that I usually record to show my Dr). Will check back in 30 days and 60 days. Thank you for giving me another perspective to my health.

doctors are usually full of shit. But yes, neck/postural issues can definitely cause migraine/headache issues (including tension headaches). A huge tip for the neck is to not only focus on improving flexibility but also mainly on improving strength (in the short term might make symptoms worse). Believe it or not, increasing strength is actually the most important factor in preventing stiffness in the long run (more important than directly working on increasing "flexibility"). Would also highly recommend working on strengthening the back of your shoulders (in between your shoulder blades, i.e. rotator cuffs). Doing some basic rotator cuff exercises alone to remove that hunched posture could improve your neck/headache issues more than even trying to work on the neck/head directly, it is amazing what a difference it makes. Good luck! P.S. My mum had very similar issues and doctors completely ignored neck/muscle/postural issues and went straight to migraine medication. Took many years later for them to realise it was muscle/posture related and I had to give her a training/exercise regiment myself (doctors/physio's regimen's usually don't progress in difficulty past a certain point).

Posture is very important for the spine, breathing and the cervical spine. I became aware of the wrong posture of my neck when, while using the cell phone, my chin almost touched the sternum. Bad aesthetic results (the onset of a double chin) and respiratory. We should use our cell phone less and if we do at least remember to keep our shoulders straight and our chin lifted!!

Can you recommend ways we can test ourselves like you have tested yourself? What are some tests we can ask for?

I just heard of you and your goal. Very exciting indeed. I myself am well past 50 years old. I've had my own physical agenda, although not one that has been monitored. I can say that I've had on more than one occasion. Medical professionals have pulled my file to dbl check that it was me. I also have a son, a young adult. When we've gone place together where we're not both known. People have thought us to be brother and sister. I continue my agenda. I just wish I had the means to track it. As you do.

Do shoulders up and out mean roll forward and outwards to the side, or roll forward and outward to the front?

Would appreciate a video on the exercises and supplements taken to reverse the stenosis. I have pulsating tinnitus...bad news. Taking transresveratol, fisetin, apigenin, NMN.... On low glycemic diet. Nothing improved yet....may take more time. I think everyone would like to know what supplements with liw fat diet can open up stenosis. Thanks.

I have posture issues at 27 that I'm starting fix, severe hip pain, and turns out I had stenosis in the arteries running down my legs and a bulged disk in my T4-S1 vertebrae after a snowboarding accident. I'm so thankful for your protocol, you're a god send.

Do you have any idea on how to help your body? It takes months of chiropractic and stretching by yourself I thought.

Did correcting your posture fix the problem with your jugular? Or did you have to incorporate treatment (prolotherapy, chiropractic, etc..c?) Would love to hear more about how this turned out as well as a breakdown of your posture protocol. I have a similar problem with one of my vertebrals.

In a diff video he says he only worked with a PT after looking for and talking to the world leading experts on this subject. But i dunno. Also would be interesting to know which exact medication he took while he was trying to correct his posture.

i had a disc herniation in my neck one year ago and went on an insane quest to fix my posture, it didnt just include doing exercises to achieve that but it led me to change the way i view conventional exercise as a whole. Since then ive done 100s of hours of deep tissue massage and worked on my posture daily for hours using functional range conditioning and functional patterns. I went from extremely compressed lower back and a pelvic tilt to it almost being fully straight and i am almost at the stage where i have brought my hips under my spine. through the correcting of the lower back my neck came back significantly and now i am focusing on bringing the thorasic form a rounded state forward and my neck back, so that when i stand everything is straight and bone on bone from my head to my ankles.

i agree that posture is completely overlooked and it will be a massive ager of most people. most people think exercise is inherently good and they pursue exercise in conventional forms and unconvential forms. but if your postural mechanics are off you will just end up creating and strengthening imbalances that will end up leading to injury.
