I believe Outdoor Retreat added herbalism as a skill, where you have to collect and identify herbs. If I remember correctly, you can create some sprays or potions to help against insect bites and stuff.

I have this and traveled there once but it's boring. It's like being at home. It should have bigfoot, raccoons, bunnies, something that differs it from home lots. Maybe some kind of tent building skill and wood gathering for fires and wood stove. It's pretty but I'm inclined to turn it into a better spot now that we have terrain tools, fish, fireflies, etc. Maybe make apartments on one lot? Would that work? As it is now though, it's boring.

Funny enough, I use it all the time. BB items make it into my game, I use the herbalism potions a lot, and I send my sims camping to GF a lot more than most other worlds. I also have a bunch of mods to make it more fun, and accessible such as different herbalism requirements

I actually had to basically customize mine because it was so boring. I added builds that had activities and stuff for them to do. I tried to make it as authentic as I possibly could to fit the outdoors theme but yeah I had to add stuff because there wasn't much to do. I also think after a certain period of time they should do some upgrades on the older packs.

Outdoor Retreat could certainly use a refresh! But it's still probably my favourite Game Pack, specifically because it's the only one I consistently use. I don't play with Occults, StrangerVille, Batuu, and Jungle Adventure are things I'll only do once in a while, DHD is mostly only good for the build, I don't care about Weddings or going out to a restaurant, and Parenthood's gameplay is kind of in the background since it blends in with the game so well. But I go camping all the time. I don't use the Herbalism skill often though, and collecting bugs is annoying without Carl's collecting mod. But with other packs camping can be a lot of fun for all ages. Less so for Infants and Toddlers but that's pretty much true for any community activity/lot lol.

I would upgrade all four housing rental lots to include luxury beds, expensive televisions, expensive kitchen appliances and luxury sofas. Two set rules that I use for each rental lot is that all bathroom items should have a reliability rating of at least 8 and all kitchen appliances should have a reliability rating of at least 8. Two other minor rules include placing a wall speaker and a desk with a computer on it in the living room of the rental unit. The purpose of the computer is mainly to book travel reservations to go home.

I like to take sims friends camping on a mini vacation. They can sit around the fire, play music, and tell regular stories and *ghost stories*. Two sims can also stargaze/watch clouds together. If they're at a cabin, sometimes they grab a book and sit and read, or turn on the radio and dance. The tents come with a copy of the Wilderness Journal that you can read. You can take a sim around the map to collect frogs, insects and plants. If the sims are traveling as a group, they can go together. When you actually go camping IRL, you can ride bikes around the campground, go to the beach at the lake, relax in the sun, and have a picnic. Kids meet other kids and play sports, float, or splash in the water. It's just the pleasure of living outside in nature for a little while. RoxxySims made a Summer Camp lot with lots of activities for Outdoor Retreat. It's on the Gallery and on her Patreon.

Yeah it also add the herbalism skill and the hidden hermit house. You have to go through the cave to get there. But yeah that's basically it.

I know this expansion pack is nearly a decade old, but it somehow manages to be a downgrade from Sims 2: Bon Voyage. The momentary panic when Yin couldn’t figure out how to get the Little Campers stuff tells us everything we need to know about this disappointing dlc
