Nasi Goreng is just an exotic name for Fried Rice...so we hear! But it is amazing how the flavor is different for other Fried Rice. We love the fact that it can easily be made vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Traditionally, they do add Shrimp Paste to the dish but at my request Chef Sudabo showed me how it can so easily be transformed into a vegetarian dish. Thanks again Chef for allowing us into your kitchen!

Due to not many RELEVANT comments on here, thought I'd share my experience in actually trying your recipe... I know - who would have thought of that? Not many apparently! So, Nasi Goreng is one of my favourite foods in the world, and I have tried many. This was damn near the best I've had! And yes, I have eaten many of these dishes in Indonesia! I did add shallots and bean sprouts, because I love them in any fried rice dishes, and substituted sugar snap peas for the beans. And I didn't measure anything, because, well, that's how I roll. Delicious - THANKYOU! 👌

I am a novice cook but love to eat good food (spedcially Thai, Indonesian. Malaysian). I gathered courage to make Nasi Goreng (following your recipe). Made my own sambal, and used regular soya sauce with sugar instead of Sweet Soya sauce. It came out perfect. Thank you for your awesome video.

Indonesian Javanese nasi goreng usually use candle nut and a little bit of dry shrimp paste. to add more flavor, you can add a bit of oyster sauce and worcestershire sauce as well :)

I prefer to add sambal after garlic, then the meat/egg, then the vegtables And kecap manis (sweet soy sauce at the last step - because it is easy to get burn and the taste will gone if cook more time)

Nasi Goreng is just a direct translation of Fried Rice in Indonesian and Malaysian language. Nothing exotic. Its just a staple food hawker food in far Asia regions. Dont be dumb to argue who owns the originality of the food. There are many versions of it. If in Malaysia there are just too many versions.

This might have been lost in translation but Indonesia sambal is actually very different from chinese. Yes we use the same chillies, garlic, and onions but ours contain lemon grass and sometimes even shrimp paste. This is a slight variation but it's actually pretty important to get the taste from a standard Asian fried rice into an Indonesian fried rice. Still, this recipe looks great.

I like this recipe, thank you for sharing it. I don't refer to it in exact quantities. However, I find it very helpful if you need an order of ingredients and basic suggestions how to make this meal. I ate Nasi Goreng in Indonesia, homemade version (based on this recipe) tastes almost the same to me... I tried this one with noodles as well, it was good too.

Why don't you find something else to bitch about, something horrendous, such as animal cruelty, war, world hunger, ...whatever. What's the matter with you??

Cause it's not an authentic recipe, cabbage is not used in nasi Goreng and she hasn't used shrimp paste and also didnt marinated chicken and chicken is always cubed not thinly sliced. Maybe she learned from a wrong chef.

This one is my fav food, i usually make my own nasi goreng paste and keep it in the refridgerator so that if i want to make nasi goreng i just scramble the egg, pan fry the chicken, bean sprouts and some veggies, then add rice, salt and pepper to taste. Sweet soy sauce is optional for me, means sometimes use it sometimes not. Bt u cant substitute it with other soy sauce, bcoz it will taste different.
