Nervous Puppy Explores the Farm

My brother got a puppy from a breeder (different breed) and she was super nervous to be around him at the start! Turns out, the wife of the couple is the one who handled all the care of the dogs, so all the puppies were used to women and not really to men. Could potentially be the same scenario just also mixed with a shy personality!

i dunno if you watched her travel trip she kept showing signs of this fear n insecurity nature. at the farm it's taken her a week to calm more but right now she's being trained with 'food' and that desire or need works but keep observing. this shivering and shaking tucking the TAIL and NEROUSNESS all are SIGNS... I LOVE HOW TOBY is and his even keeled personality and how he's interacting with her and correcting her at times too as an adult dog will do to a pup. But again, I don't feel the best about this personality she is demonstrating 'fear'. Adorable n cute but will she be a stable dog for the work purpose and will she be good to breed and pass on this kind of temperment?

Tbh he seems to still be in the jealous phase but he’ll get over it.

He was quick to snatch her treat in her bowl well I bet that won’t happen often she will probably eat that quick!! Lol

They'll have puppies? Why?

@@Liquessen Because one is male, and the other is female, so they can. And their owner wants them to. At least, once she is old enough to be able to do so, as long as a vet checks her out and says that it would be okay and not bad for either her or her possible-puppies' health for her to do so. So why shouldn't they?

@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341 I just find it questionable to breed dogs when you're not part of a kennel club or so. At least these two have good pedigrees, I suppose, but it's still backyard breeding of a sort.

@@Liquessen No, it's not at all like backyard breeding. Backyard breeding is a very specific and terrible practice when people keep animals in tiny quarters and do absolutely nothing with them ever EXCEPT breed them, purely for profit. They don't care about the dogs' healths, and they sell the puppies as young as possible, and give the mother dogs no time to recover between giving birth to one litter of puppies and becoming pregnant with another litter. They never have them checked out by vets. They don't care about proper socialization or training. And they don't care what kind of homes the puppies go to or not. It's completely different. There is nothing wrong with anyone who wants to do so becoming a breeder, as long as they can afford to take proper care of the animals and actually do so, and practice proper & responsible breeder/seller habits.

That's just why it's wrong to go right to having her live outside in winter conditions without even a dog coat to help keep her warm.

The problem with a heated pad is that it will get muddy and wet. Being wet when it's cold is alot more of a problem than the cold itself. Another problem is that is the the dog acclimates to the heat source (light, bed, house)and the power goes out the dog is at more risk of freezing. As long as she is dry and in a environment where she can can escape from the wind she should be able to keep herself warm. The dog house in the shed is also a great idea. If she actually felt cold she could go in there and warm up, as the dog house is a smaller space and would warm up quickly.

@@tatorkator9901 Next winter she'll have all the fur she need to keep her warm. But right now she doesn't, coming from a warmer climate.

@@Nemrai after looking up the temps of the location the puppy came from the daily average temps are 73-44. In Vermont where she now lives the average daily temps can be 25-45, which is overall a difference of 20 degrees. With a proper shelter and a wind break the new pup should be plenty fine to live outdoors. If the pup wanted to warm up there is also a smaller dog house that would warm up relatively quickly, especially considering it's in a shelter and out of the wind. This puppy also has a puppy coat and is a maramma sheepdog. They are very adaptable to situations like this. The worst thing he could do is to actually bring her inside and strip her of her ability to warm herself. As long as she stays outside she will maintain the ability to control her bodies homeostasis.
