Today i answer the question as to which shoe you should buy.
The Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next% 2 or Nike Zoom Alphafly Next% ?
I have been asked this question a hundred times recently and decided to compile a video discussing the merits and pitfalls of both shoes. Which has the better upper? Is the weight noticeable? In terms of outsole which is more durable or has the best grip? Are the shoes true to size? Is the Alphafly upper larger than the next%? All answered in todays video amongst many other questions.
If you have any further questions on the big matchup then please place them into the comments. Did you get on ok with the Alphafly or return them?
Hold tight people, stay strong and we WILL make it through.
Keep it nice in the comments please, i do not do unpleasant, its just ..... unpleasant. See you in the digital ones and zeros......

My impression is that a lot of people are returning the Alphas because they feel so weird when you are standing around rather than really giving them an honest time trial sort of effort. Running hard in them is magical.

I have both and I like them both, I’m a bit undecided... they both perform well. According to other people who’ve seen me running, I tend to overpronate quite a bit in the Next% and not so much in the Alphafly, even though I don’t notice this myself. On the other hand, both feel well on foot. When it comes to the small differences, my subjective impression is that I can reach a higher maximum pace in the Next%, but the Alphafly enables me to keep the pace for longer and prevents muscle fatigue more efficiently. So I’ll probably always have a pair of both of them in my rotation. 😅

Excellent vlog Edd, I am a Vaporfly Next% 1 fan, but then havent tried the Alphafly yet - not been convinced. So, as a club runner, the Next% did help me knock 7 mins (down to 3.07) off my marathon PB a year ago (just before lockdown #1), though I had also upped my training and improved my gait, so as always difficult to work out how much the shoe contributed to the PB.

I love Vaporfly next V1 but I don’t know if instability can make the things not so confy after km 30. On the other hand I am doing some long runs in endorphin speed and Iam enjoying its stability and bounce though they are not so fast as Next...maybe Alphafly could join stability and snappiness in one only shoe. I tested both and chosen the vaporfly as my first carbon plate running shoe. The alphafly arch area is definitely narrower and feels like cutting into my foot and it also felt less stable when running. Price was also consideration for me and due to all these reasons I went for next% 2

I also got a hotspot near where the arch begins behind the big toe. Would have definitely got a blood blister if I went more than 8 miles
@Catcrumbs
@Catcrumbs 2 года назад
I just picked up a pair of Alphaflys and they fit wonderfully aside from - you guessed it - the arch on one of my feet, where they cut in quite a bit and left a mark. Kinda disappointing to have a hypershoe at my disposal with one little niggle on one foot stopping me from using it. I was thinking of sizing up, but now that I know the Vapours are a bit wider there I may swap over.
@jp05598
@jp05598 2 года назад
@@Catcrumbs I wore mine again for a 10 miler run a few days ago, they were much better the 2nd time around and to be fair, I’ve had other shoes give me a blister/ discomfort the first couple of times I wore them and then were fine after that as well (rincon/ novablast). Also, the alphafly is wider than the vaporfly, try putting the outsoles together and have a look. I think the taper is just more dramatic in the alphafly and the insole raises a lot which caused us the arch discomfort. Maybe I flattened it out the first run and it’s better now, not really sure but try them again maybe

Vaporfly Next% 2 is a characterful shoe, with a weird upper and a complicated and idiosyncratic lockdown. And it cannot be taken off anything except the most basic road surface - it's just too delicate and picky about terrain, turns etc. But the energy return is truly EXCEPTIONAL. And you barely feel the race in your legs the next day. I have not regretted shelling out megabucks for my pair, and when I eventually destroy them I won't regret just buying another pair outright.

I'll be training more in different so called super shoes just because they are easier on your legs. Elite runners probably get a massage a couple of times a week to help them recover. The average person might only get a massage a couple of times a year . So buying super shoes might be a cheaper option to getting massagers as well.

For me, Nike Vaporfly 2 is not a very innovative model. I don't like the colors of the shoes. I stay with the Nike Vaporfly 1. You have to be able to run in the Nike Alphafly. They are incredibly soft. That's why now i'm experimenting with Adidas. I think Adidas Adizero Adios Pro is a very successful model. Recently, a new record in the half-marathon has been broken in them. As Eliud Kipchoge says - "the shoes do not run by themselves, but they help a lot". Greetings from Poland.
