When Blade Runner 2049 came out I saw a lot of people saying how she looked familliar, yet they hadn't seen her in anything else. I'd reply with; "She looks like a young, latin, Lexi Belle." A lot of people asked "Who?" A lot more said; "Damn. She really does."
Whenever I have to pee while the movie is running I put my phone in the cup holder and record the screen. After the movie is over, I watch what I missed on my phone. I typically try not to eat or drink anything right before a movie to avoid bathroom breaks altogether.
Casino Royale was not the beginning of James Bond and Craigs Bond was already an established career at that point. He was not a newbie and I think the black and white flashbacks confused people.
Alot of that is because for the most part, the actors have stepped down from being Bond after their final film. This really is the first time a Bond actor has announced his retirement from the role before his final film.
I feel this movie highlighted just how memorable Eva Green was as Vesper Lynd. Lea Seydoux is good as Madeline Swann, but is hamstrung by the weak plot and writing in Spectre. This movie tries to make up as much as it can to give us reasons to believe that she and Bond truly love each other. However, with everything else that is happening, I didn't feel there was enough time. Still, it is amazing that Daniel Craig's Bond character got a full journey starting with Casino Royale.
Imo Madeline and Bond just had a common interest/motive/goal. Forcing them together was a tad awkward after the beginning sequence. However, I felt the genuine sadness in the final scene with her. Edit: It's because the actress nailed the scene. All of the acting was phenomenal throughout the film.
Spoilers?: "with everything else that is happening, I didn't feel there was enough time." But they had all the time in the world! (I'm not crying, you're crying!)
Casino: He gets recruited and acts on his own, he quites the service and finally returns to service. Quantum: He acts on his own, but then returns to service. Skyfall: He dies, but he returns to service. Spectre: He is suspended but he acts on his own and returns to service. No time to die: He is retired, but he returns to service. Daniel Craigs Bond movies seem to have a theme.: How to make him quit and bring him back.
The best part about your comment is that Daniel Craig actually has quit and returned to the character multiple times. He is is even quoted saying that he would rather slit his wrist with broken glass before returning to bond and then he did specter
It’s the most accurate version of Ian Fleming’s James Bond that’s been put on screen he’s damaged and tired and the job has taken its Toll on him, he’s got the scars to prove it.
Almost the same order as me :D Though I'd have put Spectre last. Quantum to me felt like half a good movie that does a total 180 after the opera where Spectre never landed at all for me. I love Christoph Waltz, and he did what he could but it felt like Spectre's script let it down. Also some of the action dirction felt empty, with no danger.
@@maxjonson same. I loved the first half of SPECTRE, especially the opening sequence. But the big reveal was so stupid, about how the characters are related. It made it feel like a soap opera. I didn’t need that (and I have nothing against soaps 😆 … I love Young & the Restless 😆). It just was so out of nowhere. It felt like they ripped it from Austin Powers. I was fine with the organization being there, Spectre has long been a part of Bond. But yeah…
Hard to believe Casino Royale was one of the first movies I remember watching and really being invested in at 6 years old, and 15 years later Craig is still killing it. This Bond arc has been my childhood and my teen years, bittersweet to see it end

That should be in your rating system: “Not taking bathroom break” Anyway, my Daniel Craig list of best to worst Bond movies omitting the new one is: 1. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 3. Spectre 4. Quantum of Solace
Quantum taken as a whole is the worst film of the whole 'franchise' Despite being the shortest ( i think) it bored the pants and never been able to watch the whole on dvd. And now I am going to be bored.. sorry so excited.. I don't need to pee(Craig's up to some-at. Mark my words the franchise is at its biggest predicament ever)
@@camiloordonez4906 I thought he showed incredible range even with being in only 2 movies. Still more than Lazenby got, He only had "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (which is still a fantastic Bond film).
Yeah Timothy Dalton is criminally underrated, hell if they were to have a real life battle royal between all the Bond actors I believe Mr. Dalton would wipe the floor with the rest. Connery was a good sized man, but Timothy Dalton was is intimidating.
Personally I'd say it was a pretty good send off for Daniel Craig as Bond and in so many ways it felt like an end of an era aswel (for reasons I won't get into because spoilers for those that haven't seen it) and it all just works pretty well! First movie I've been to see in the cinema since COVID and I was not disappointed, infact everyone in the cinema I went to at the end of the movie was clapping at the end including myself.
As far as Daniel Craig Bond movies , " SkyFall " is my favorite. That James Bond had imperfections. Javier Bardeem was a great villain. The villain had his reasons. Bad guy wasn't all bad and MI 6 not all that innocent.
definitely. my rating personally now goes as follows 1 skyfall 2 no time to die 3 casino royale 4 quantum of solace + spectre (i loved and hated different things about them equally)
@@arijeanz for me it’s 1. Casino Royale 2. No Time To Die 3. Skyfall 4. Spectre 5. Quantum Of Solace I just didn’t really like the last half hour of skyfall and I really love spectre but the plot is wayyy to messy but it’s still not nearly as bad as a lot of people say imo
Thank God, I'm so glad to hear Daniel Craig is finishing on a good note! "Casino Royale" and "Skyfall" are two of my favorite Bond films, and I look forward to adding this one to the list!
I'm glad I didn't hear about the whole "new 007" thing beforehand. The internet is dumb. Her character was great, and it played for some good interactions.
I feel bad for getting mad when I first heard about it…honestly years back, wow, it’s been that long. I was played for a fool and I’m glad to be wrong.
@@mala6238 yeah some say that he's ugly, uncharismatic, not a very good actor (not true tho, he was in Steven Spielberg's Munich before Bond, he was great in that movie and he did alright in the Tomb Raider movies), even the casting director of Casino Royale did an interview that she apologize to Craig and feel bad for the hate he got
Him being jacked kinda ruined the character now. Bond is supposed to be more of a dad bod type that says "I'm not the fastest, strongest, smartest guy but I'll find a way to get the dam thing done and have a martini afterward and some s*x on the beach." Craig's Bond is gonna make future Bonds have to be as ripped as he was in Casino Royale now. I think the Connery/Brosnan look was more fitting personally
It may only be because I'm a Gen Z-er and I haven't seen many of the Bond movies, but, Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond. Sucks to see it coming to an end, but, he's killed it across 5 movies
This is true, however someone replacing James Bond's agent number adds more conflict between the two characters. Being unceremoniously replaced doesn't feel good, and constantly being in someone's shadow doesn't feel good either.
@@oneoone I just think it would have been better if they gave her another number. It could have been any, even if they wanted to stay within the 9 numbers.

@Revenge Class I can see your problems with the plot, and I do agree with some of your point. Some probably due to the rewrites over the multiple delays. I’ve read Lynch had more dialogue that was cut. I also agree that they tried to tie off some loose ends and some deaths could of been done differently/cut Don’t appreciate you spoiling the plot for people that haven’t seen the film however, this review is spoiler free btw
@Revenge Class You do realize that the movie says that 5 years had passed since James retired from being 007, right? Just because we never saw her earn the title of being a 00, doesn't mean it never happened. Malek was a good villain, with a great weapon, but I think he could have used more presence for sure. Q being gay was a throwaway line that you could easily miss, it's not like they shoved it in your face. I did wish Felix Lighter had more to do during any of these new Bond films, he was pretty much Bond's best friend during the Connery and Moore films, but by the time Bond dies in the film, Felix's death doesn't really matter, and it actually made sense for Bond to die this time, the man can never stay retired, no matter how much he wants to, the movie literally opens with showing us that fact. Nomi gives Bond the 007 title back for this mission as both a peace offering, and because they both knew this would be his last mission as 007 if he died or not, it was a sign of respect for him and for him having previously been a 00, nothing more, nothing less. And as for them changing the gender of any Bond characters in the future, maybe, maybe not, I still doubt Bond will be changed, Felix could be changed to a woman and become a Bond girl for all we know, or Q, but you have to let it go already, man, it's just a movie, and it was still a great send off for Daniel Craig despite the grievances you had with the story.
@Revenge Class ok, I’ve heard enough of these rants from people claiming to be fans of these franchises, but when you actually watch what they are complaining about it, it’s almost nothing compared to what they think is coming next, you guys think that every single franchise is going to be turned into a homosexual gender bent hell hole within the next 5 years, and that is complete and utter bullshit, actual feminists and gay rights activists aren’t trying to take away your beloved characters, the least of their worries are about being represented in movies and tv, it’s lazy ass writers and producers that pretend to be part of these movements, and then slap these overtly used stereotypes onto redone versions of preexisting characters, for other people who pretend to be apart of these movements to enjoy, but they’re the only ones who want to see that, but then, people like you get angry even when they have something even similar to that, because you hate it so much when they go too far, that everything seems too far for you people.
@Revenge Class I don't really care for any of it either, but I don't see the point in crying over a one word reference as to a character's sexual preference, it's stupid to care that much, especially when you claim to not even be a Bond fan.
Timothy Dalton was really the first Bond who tried to be grounded and show his pain. But Craig and Casino Royals were directed and written much better than Dalton’s films.
@@billcranston3882 Sure, but that was a one off. Kind of like the black sheep of the bond films at the time. After that they went back to the formula. However, Dalton’s two films and a planned third were a deliberate attempt at the studio to “ground” Bond.
@@BloodnightStudios It was a one-off because the actor was mental. It wasn't a planned one-off, the story was written with every intent of continuing the Bond lore on film.
Ana de Armas felt more of a cameo even though she had a longer role than Jeffry “The Watcher” Wright. Wonder if she was just written in because Craig and de Armas were both in Knives Out. EDIT: was hoping she’d pop in another scene unexpected after she says, “this is where we part ways” (not verbatim).

3:08 Well, actually Double-O-10 makes perfect sense, at least where the books are concerned, because Double-O is just the "Licensed to kill" rank. There are Double-O agents way higher than 0010 in the books.
I can at least specifically remember a Double-Oh Eleven in one of the books by Fleming, because it answered my burning question of whether a double-digit agent would be "0XX" or "00XX." I think some of the "expanded universe" material has had them up to at least thirteen, though it is implied that they don't really need to go that high because there's usually only a few active at a time.
There were a lot of similarities since Hans Zimmer was the composer for both movies and he most definitely used a lot of similar themes from the dark knight rises in this soundtrack.

Before people go too crazy and try and make this new 00 a pioneer, there already was a female 00 agent way back in Sean Connery's era. Best was Casino Royale, it was a watershed moment in the James Bond movie world, grounded the movies in reality (to compete with Jason Bourne Films) and it changed everyone's initial opinion of Daniel Craig taking on the role. When he was originally announced, most people didn't like him for the role. After seeing Casino Royale, most people thought he was perfect for the role.
@@ANGELOFDARKification That really sums up what happened. Before Casino Royale, the Bond franchise was a whole other level of superficial. It was all about sexy women, fast cars, gadgets and set pieces. In that mindset, the consistent appearance of Bond seemed like a super important aspect. After Casino Royale, it was a whole new depth and hair color didn't matter at all anymore.
I dunno about that. I never went to a James Bond film to be 'grounded in reality'. I'm about as grounded in reality as I need to be, what with living there and having a glut of 'gritty and realistic' films and TV to choose from. I kinda liked the *fun* Bond films, camp and all, and haven't been to see a new one in over a decade.
@@Cryptic0013 Well the one before it kind of jumped the shark in a lot of people's opinion, and they wanted to bring it down to earth a little bit at least and compete with the Bourne series. Which it arguably did, the Craig series of bond is highly successful both critically and box office.
My biggest problem with this film was that they tried so hard to keep it grounded in reality the best they could. This film was just so unrealistic, to an insane point. The villain was so flawed and generic , and the Bond’s death didn’t touch me like it should’ve.
Oh yes, Perhaps Ana would make more appearances if there were more Bond movies with Craig but now t's out of the realm of possibility. Unless they make reboots which is unlikely.
This whole thing oozes of James Bond DYING at the end of it. Everything from the unique director of Cary Fukunaga (True Detective Season 1) to this being Craig’s last film, to the ironic title - No Time To Die. Also, so many reviews have now stated that the ending is “heartbreaking” and most were “stunned”. I’m sorry, but next to Hollywoods worst kept secret, being Sony denying Tobey and Andrew are in the new Spiderman film, this whole Bond flick simply foreshadows the demise of its lead character. I have very little doubt, I think they’re gonna LOGAN his ass.
Product of a bygone era, after 25 films and 50+ years, its time to put a historically (not recently) racist, misogynistic, xenophobic franchise to rest - that is, if you're right, and that is the case.
People are dropping the hints. But James Bond the character is not dead. How many films have you seen where a major character dies and then next movie they’re back again. Having Blofeld being Bond’s half-brother is way harder to swallow than Bond not staying dead.
I felt like the whole Safin arc was dumb af. I mean you have built a Blofeld as an interesting vilain + spectre + Madeleine in a previous movie. Why would you put a 5 year gap in their relationship and kill Blofeld in an instant ? Imagine ; if we had Bond raising his daughter with Madeleine, and Blofeld finding a way out after 5 years in prison and coming back for vengeance the movie would have been the same. Only now you care for Bond saving the family he built for years, and have a justified personal grief from Blofeld. You end Bond and Spectre in the same movie, cry your eyes out because you actually felt Bond giving his life to save a family he really cares about, and prove Blofeld was his real nemesis : the one actual vilain Bond will have to die to be stopped.
Yeah, the new villain was kinda anticlimactic. I can see where they were coming from, i.e. making Blofeld the main villain in another movie would be too predictable since he already fulfilled that role but Safin kinda comes out of nowhere and does not have time to make name for himself in a way. We just know that he comes from some mafia-like family and seeks revenge.

The Good - The score - the cinematography - The opening scene and the wood scene were excellent - The regular supporting cast were also excellent (also enjoyed the short Ana storyline, a likeable character but unbelievable that an 8 stone woman can take on multiple attackers) The Bad - The plot device, nanobots 🙄 - Lachana Lynch, not great but not as bad as I feared, not a particularly likeable character, give shit to Bond after she has been in the job two years, basically work experience compared to his tenure, a Mary Sue! - The villains motivation get why he killed Mr Whites wife. Why destroy the world, no idea? How did he get so powerful, no idea? Why did he let Bonds daughter go, no idea? Why save Madeline from the ice, no idea? What was he doing when he first left Bond/the island, no idea? Why come back, no idea? - The way Bond died ok, he just gave up on the say so of the villain that there is no cure, and of course Q (who always has an escape plan), (and of course MI6 will create a humanity destroying device with no antidote, that certainly won’t fall into the wrong hands) nope not this time let’s just give up as that’s JBs personality, WTF maybe his snazzy watch EMP kills nanobots who knows, that just felt like an add on to keep Omega happy. - Basically destroying the whole franchise killing off all the characters that make Bond the person he is, not just another Ethan Hunt or Bourne, kill Felix, kill the whole of Spectre and Blofeld, kill Bond. What is the point, just shat all over the whole genre, why bother going to see another Bond all the essentials of the franchise have been killed off, well done producers you have crapped all over the family legacy - The whole demeanour of this tortured JB gets dull very quickly, he must be the only man in the world who doesn’t want to be James Bond. In short I hated this movie and the destruction of another beloved character 1 out of 10, save your money for the next Mission Impossible, or go home and watch ‘The Rock’, trust me you will have more fun!
One thing I can’t buy into from this film is that, of all the Bond girls, he would fall for the one who is easily the most miserable , least fun and most bland character wise (not the actress’ fault, it’s the character). Doesn’t fit at all
No that actually makes absolute sense to me 💯! That of all the beautiful women Bond could fall for, he would fall for one who he actually "connects" with deep down. That brings some realness and humanity to the character. Remember it's all mostly like "Real Life", you're going to find that MOST of the gorgeous, stunning, sexy, feisty women out there will be loads of fun, but actually being in a "REAL and Loving, Relationship with, and you're living with eachother, those women would all mostly end up having nothing in common with you deep down. That's why the whole "Fast Women" ideal is more of a fantasy. In Reality there was no way James Bond was ever going to end up with the Claudia Schiffer type for life, in a REAL Relationship LOL. It's alot like George Clooney, massively charismatic guy, ALL women worship him and want to be with him, and of all the women hes had, look who he eventually falls for!? Skinny, Camel Face Amal lol! I know that's harsh but honestly that woman is nowhere near as beautiful as the women George has been with in the past. So you have to work out what exactly does he see in her! It's obvious he connects with her and theres is somekind of genuine "Love" going on there. This is how i see Craig's Bond andMadeleinee Swan, although i would say Lea Seydoux is a gorgeous, natural, elegant beauty, but i'll admit her character was purposefully written to have a fairly troubled past, and therefore come across as "miserable" most of the time. But you see i gotta say those of you who have always said in defense of Daniel Craig's "Bond" that hes the most "Realistic" of the 007s. You really cant say and think that, but then expect him to have a unrealistic, fun, exotic, hugely charismatic "Bond Girl". It just would totally go against the whole "Realistic" approach to his James Bond.
@@RaikenXion oh yeah I agree with an awful lot of that. But I don’t think they built her character up to be all that appealing, especially when he’s still grieving for someone else. It just feels a little off (and yes, she is gorgeous and a great actress)
Yeah l believe hes right l have seen all the bond movies from early 2000 and moving on the latest movies are ok but this one the new was really meh and l really didn't like the feminine aspect
@@oneoone yeah well its still bullshit, and will garunteed hurt this movie. Black wahman diversity hire doesn't need to be there. Oh but she does tho right!!! Gtfo 🖕🖕
The emotion in this movie made me cry a few times & the revelation that nothing lasts forever hit rrally hard with the fact that Craig is doing his thing one last time
Another great review, thanks Jeremy. I so glad that you love this film! Some reviewers are canning it for all the wrong reasons. A couple of little issues I had though, with the plot. 1. the confusion over whether or not he was Madelines father. It was messy, and seemed unnecessary to me. 2. Why couldn't they have delayed the missile strike at the end to allow him 10 more minutes to get away? What was the ticking clock urgency? It was not really clear. But overall, I really liked it and will watch it again soon. You asked for our ranking of Daniel Craig's Bond movies. Here's mine, best to not best (none are worst - this is Bond! And Craig!): 1. Casino Royal 2. Skyfall 3. No Time to Die 4. Quantum of Solace 5. Spectre
It's so unrealistic that trained men would get beaten up by trained women. Men on average are bigger, stronger and have far more testorone which gives me the physical advantage. Men are genetically built to fight. Men have the hunter gathers for thousands of years and women are built to be care givers and there's nothing wrong with that. It's not a criticism of women It's just the fact. It's why women don't fight men in professional boxing or mma because they would get destroyed. That's life. Its fact. Everyone knows just because of the politically correct world we live in now that all films have women kicking the shit out of men but it's far fetched and it's all just pandering to feminism. James bond is a film for men. 98% of Women don't like James bond films. I won't be going to watch this film.
Not gonna lie, my excitement was a bit jaded after all the delays. But it was well worth the wait. The ending was a perfect conclusion to Craig's terrific run as Bond, through all the ups and downs. To James! 🍸
Pierce Brosnan was one of the GOAT of James Bond too, it's just the material he was given for the sequels weren't that great, not as great as Goldeneye
