So happy water culture is working out so well for you! I love growing in water culture so any time someone tries it and succeeds I am always so thrilled for them.

I've been trying and failing to grow these micro-miniature orchids in a complicated refrigerator chamber that is controlled to 45 F at night and 75 F during the day with constant 95% humidity and I've got all of these fans and misters and you need a magnifying glass to see these unimpressive flowers, anyway...and I see you growing these amazing huge flowers in jars of pebbles and I'm just like wtf am I doing with my life lol The struggle is real.

Amazing. Living in Colorado, when I found your videos they inspired me & taught me a lot. I'm now working on 50 orchids most in semi hydro & they are thriving. BTW, your phragmipedium looks like it may be a Phragmipedium Sedenii (Schlimii X Longifolium)

Tape your tangerinum drain holes and treat the whole glass with with the peroxide instead of dumping the jar. Maybe it just needs a few rinses.

I can't give you an ID on the Phrag, it is clearly a schlimii hybrid but there are a lot of them. It is really similar to Professor Braem but the blooms look a bit small for that hybrid. And maybe I'm seeing things, but aren't there nubs of flower spikes starting on Big Bertha (fattest cane in the middle with roots all over the place)?

Hey Michael, do you have an id on the very first phal you showed. I have one just like but there was no id with it. This is a great channel, with great info. Keep it going.

New orchid grower here (about six months)...I have read so much conflicting information but something that seems to be a constant is the temperature differential needed of 10-15 degrees between night and day. Have read that they won't bloom unless they have this variance. Is this something you concern yourself with?

Do you drill the drain holes or can you buy the glass containers weigh holes?

Can the phalaenopsis orchids grow outside on a tree in the South Florida wheather?
@mariapina1755
@mariapina1755 3 года назад
Yes! They love our weather and to be mounted. Make sure you have growing roots when you mount it and try to put it on an angle to avoid crown rot.

Hi Michael, I'm having an issue, I think, with semi-hydroponics. I have leca in self watering pots (Lechuza), however, one of the air roots on my Phal has a white fuzzy stuff on it as well as some of the Leca on top. This is also happening with my Cattleya. What am I doing wrong? I did soak the leca... It's almost like a mold or mildew...
