I don’t know if there are any other games that get the David vs Goliath style battle right. Like this is what Aloy’s fighting, a hundred meter long robot Cobra that spits acid, shoots lightning and could crush her just by running her over. Does she have any superpowers? Any prophetic destiny or magical weaponry? No, she’s got tenacity, skill, engineering and a boatload of bravery on her side. That’s it. There’s no magic weak spot to hit, just a number of exploitable components that reduce the hundreds of arrows it’ll take to bring this mechanical monstrosity down. And it doesn’t matter how powerful your loudout is, what’ll take you minutes, it will do to you in seconds.
The early stages of breath of the wild are like this. When you face a guardian and you have limited tools and resources. If you want to take one down, you have to rely on ingenuity and using what little you have and the envitonment to deal damage. Of course this is completely ruined late game when you become an indestructible god who can kill guardians like theyre nothing.
You can clearly see that this is one the first soundtracks they made for this game because it's so unique and well made. Perfect theme for the first boss fight in the game.
Other than the obvious hisses they still somehow managed to make a soundtrack thats sounds fundamentally creepy and serpantin. How they combined the rattles and the little bits of chorus are just perfect. Honestly this song IMO is the best snake boss theme in the history of any kind of media.
I'm trying to see what are the hisses in the music. Can you tell me at which part does it play? Can you do the same for the rattles? It really looks obvious but I can't hear it, or maybe I do but don't recognize it.
At 0:42 it tbh looks like more of a rattle instead of a snake hissing, or is it the same thing? Not too sure. Also at 0:48 I heard it yeah, but it only played once when that rhythm plays and loops. Idk if you understand what I mean.
@@opratorkilo4649 Sorry for pinging again only for that, but I am listening to it now at high volume and I hear the hisses and rattles, but tbh they are very subtle if we aren't listening at high volume.
Man, I can't get over how amazing this track is: It fits the Slitherfang so well and makes every confrontation with it just perfect. The part at 0:46 with the snake rattles and epic buildup is FIRE!
This thing made Thunderjaw (almost) look like a joke in comparison! A multi-weaponized ground-digging high speedster. One of the best new machines, that are already almost all VERY good in general.
as someone who finished both games (plus burning shores), I can confirm that the Thunderjaw is an absolute joke now. (read more for a story nobody asked for, or don't for dozens of seconds not being wasted) (I tried getting a slitherfang in an override lock so it wouldn't attack me while I search an area once. Even as an ally, it still manages to make things ten times harder. Put it in attack subfunction, it will search literally everywhere and do anything but get out of your way like the subfunction is supposed to make it do. Put it in defence subfunction, not only will it not stay put, it will follow you around relentlessly, constantly shift around and you always end up being pushed out of the tall grass you hid in to reoverride it from. It did that to me the second before it returned to normal, I have no idea how that amber awareness didn't turn red, but this time, I made sure to use the override for free hits instead of for peace. Thunderjaws do neither of these things, they just be good bois until the time is out. Never. Again.)
@@TormentDaProtogen looking at the sites where Slitherfangs spawn, they all have a lot of shared features like spots that are good to burrow, columns to coil up on and shoot etc, I assume they're like little mini-arenas to let this bizarre long noodly machine act properly when you're fighting it. As such, I can see overriding it not really being compatible with that and either it can't handle trying to follow/guard you, or it is but is also sticking to its prescripted arena paths, except those aren't necessarily set up around what you're looking at or fighting.
I'm not scared of fighting Thunderjaws, Slaughterspines, Stormbirds, Tremortusks or Rockbreakers, not at all. But *THIS* ... this is the perfect embodiment of death
@@DrHydra47 which doesn't exist in that one sidequest where you fight one in that enclosed area. god i hate them, they're the real most terrifying machines. as soon as you discover plasma slitherfangs just fall over but good luck getting a status effect on those mfs who go underground every 5 seconds. knocking off their fins are a pain
Me when battling the Slitherfang for the First Time: A GIANT SNAKE??? This thing is going to be deadly! Me when battling the Slitherfang at the Kulrut: This thing instead of a Rockbreaker. Oh no.... And it's fully intact this time.... Oh hell no.... Me battling the Slitherfang after completing New Game+ on Ultra Hard: This thing is a lot easier now. Me battling the Slitherfang after completing the Burning Shores: This isn't really hard anymore, the Bilegut is a lot harder despite it's non-intimidating appearance.
When 0:47 begins, I feel like if a snake is sneaking for us and is shaking its tail ready to attack, it's so epic to listen to that part. It's to be honest the most recognizable part of the music.
I can't wait for this DLC & what it will bring 😍😍 I really hope that we will fight the Horus & i hope they bring back the Deathbringers too. Some other stuff i am looking forward too are - New machines, weapons, outfits, face paints, dyes & more amazing music.
@jamsywamsy @HorizonThemes Boy, do I have some news for you two! That thing is like the initials of the DLC, because its fight is absolute bullshit! I'm not going to talk about it any more than that- it's not called war stories anymore, just spoilers :)
It’s a great fight, it’s just a tad bit too much concentration demanded over too much time for my taste@@jamsywamsy But then again I did it on a harder difficulty than I’m used to
Hopefully when this game hits PC and the deathbringers are back in the dlc, we'll see RU-vidrs like MrARGaming do experiments with both slitherfangs and deathbringers.
I have a war story from the burning shores that'll tell you otherwise. in short: You know, those gigantic spiderlike machines you can steal a mini nuke from with your sunwing? yeah, you have to fight that.
Not at the moment but I'll get it for you on my next playthrough as i've already overridden all the Tallnecks. It's the short song just after you override them that you are after?
@@johnsyek1857 Oh that song. I already had this on my channel i just never knew the name to it so i named it after the mission it plays on. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wKqZ8FEkqLw.html
I've gotten all the Focus Versions for all battle themes. Including the boss themes: Coiled Strike Built to Kill (Slaughterspine Theme included) Guardian of the Deep Battle Theme 6 Shoulder of Giants Primal Steel Contingency 13-F
I don't know if this is supposed to be a hidden detail or a glitch but let me explain what happened: I was fighting an Apex Slitherfang but the moment I alerted it, the starting stinger of battle theme 9 plays along with the Coiled Strike one. Has something similar happened to you?
