I used to believe that you needed to live right in order to get to heaven and let me tell you, I was overwhelmed and felt defeated every day at how I kept letting God down. It made me despondent and a very worldly Christian who did not spread the gospel to anyone. Since I came to the glorious realisation of OSAS a few years ago I was and still am on fire for Christ. I am more active now and trying harder to live a holy life to glorify God out of gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice for me. I want others to come to this wonderful truth. God bless.

My personal experience with the "maintain your salvation because you can lose it at any time". I had been saved for years, a strong Christian, loving growing in the faith. Then we moved and in the process of seeking a new church, I talked with a pastor. He tried to convince me that our salvation is not secure and we never knew if we'd make it to Heaven since the day we died we could have sinned and not asked for forgiveness. I left that meeting feeling suicidal in ways I'd never experienced before. If today I'm sure of my salvation, but tomorrow i have even a slight chance of going to hell, then death today is better by far. It was awful. I immediately did a bit of research to make sure that OSAS was Biblically sound, and felt such relief in the assurance of my salvation. I am safe in God's hand, who will not lose me, and don't need to feel the pressure of staying there under my own power. Thank you Lord!

Osas is Bible. It’s a synonym for eternal life. Osas = eternal life = everlasting life = never die.

Of the many ways that the broader Christian community criticizes the free grace position, I think the one that lacks the most self-awareness is this: that "once saved always saved" leads to a life of laxity and worldliness. However, having been in both free grace and non-free grace churches, I see the same laxity and pull of the world in both places. The Bible makes it clear that Christians can and do slip into laxity/worldliness (I think of the letter to the Galatians, who slipped back into law-living). I think that's a separate issue, one of discipleship. The motivation, however, should not be (as the reformed, calvinist, and catholic positions are) that we should fear losing salvation. Instead, the motivation should be that we are freed by the blood of Jesus Christ to serve Him if we believe in Him for everlasting life. Is fear or freedom a better motivator? Freedom, obviously.

Excellent. We who have the indwelling Holy Spirit as a result of salvation are daily motivated to live for Christ. Many years ago, I co-wrote a song "All of My Heart", to which I later added a bridge: No greater love Your grace beyond measure Atoning for sin alone on the tree How else to respond To such mercy and favor Than to give You the life You've given to me This is followed by verse 2: For I have received life eternal Saved by Your grace I live forever Surrounded by love I know that You are there Free of my sin I'm free to serve You Free to begin a life to please You All of my days I'm ever in Your care There is no earthly expression of how freeing it is to know our eternal life is truly eternal, from this moment onward.

We can relax/rest in His grace. That poor pastor who never relaxes. What a hard way to live...in such uncertainty. Praise God that He wants his children secure in His strength, grace and love. No longer trusting ourselves.

Q When I stopped worrying about being unacceptable I started learning who I was in Christ and my behavior started changing to reflect that.

Raised in a Wesleyan church that taught you would go to hell if you died before you could repent of any sin committed. At 15 I realized this made salvation impossible and said forget it! It took me years to come back and that was only because someone explained the real Gospel to me. These people either convince themselves they live sinless lives (they will say things like they made a "mistake" but didn't really sin) or they are constantly running down to the "altar" every Sunday to get re-saved until they burn out and can't take it any more. I still cringe every time I'm in a service and the leaders lean heavy on the altar calls or even if they believe in eternal security they go on and on about "are you really saved?" The church still drives me crazy sometimes, but I force myself to go.

Please, with several other like-minded scholars, put together a documetary countering this soul-destroying dogma that says fear of hell drives holy living. It's my experience that fear of hell drives fake holy living.

I hope these guys will debate Dr. Wilkin to try to back up their claims.

I just had a “conversation” with a fellow who just hated the thought of OSAS. He believed that once you were saved, that a true believer physically nor mentally could not sin, that it was impossible. He accused me of the entire list in 1st Corinthians 6:9-10. I asked him when was the last time he told a lie, lusted for someone, stole something, was envious of someone, or hated a person for what they said or did? Because until Christ changes me from this wretched filthy rag that I am, I will always be tempted to do these things. And when I fail, I run to the cross, not to be “re-saved” nor especially to “re-crucify” Jesus for my sins, but to Thank Him knowing that He has already forgiven me and to give Him praise. Sadly, that fellow immediately blocked me from the conversation. It tares at my heart to think that anyone who believes they can loose their salvation must live in constant fear and anguish and don’t realize that they are denying what Christ did for them on the cross, but have to work in order to keep their salvation. How do I know that OSAS is true, because I use to love my sins, an now I absolutely hate them, especially if I ignore the Spirit and do them anyway. But because the Spirit of the Lord is doing a work in me, I sin less, even though I a not “sinless” in my flesh. As Paul describes, I am the murderer, chained to my victim’s corpse, having to carry it around until by God’s grace and mercy, I am set free from it and made anew in the flesh as I was made anew in the Spirit when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and was born again!

I love that he says "You tend to relax" if you believe OSAS. Yes, exactly sir... it causes you to relax and rest.

We are justified by the blood of Jesus, not by our works. And our life is hidden with Christ, salvation cannot be lost. If anyone believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for their justification, they are saved and sealed by the Holy Spirit unto the day of redemption.

If you are motivated by fear to try to live a holy life in the flesh, it shows that you don’t recognize Pauline doctrine, that you have been made perfect in love. If you are saved, you are a new creature. 2 Corinthians 5:17 We are complete in him if we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Colossians 2:10, Ephesians 1:13-14, 1 John 4:18 (KJV) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Seems difficult finding scholars online preaching the gospel that saves. Would you say depending on Jesus plus your own works for salvation disqualifies one for justification? One who relied on faith only at any point in his Christian life.

If I rely on me or my walk to make it to heaven I'm lost before I started but if I trust in Jesus for the work that he did on the cross I am saved I am a sinner all my life points to how much I need Jesus so badly and there are times when he has to bend me over the knee and spank me it's just hard to imagine that we serve a God that would throw people away if they were being stubborn

Those who fall away were never truly converted and had bad seed. Those who are truly saved have a faith that never fails or at least won’t give up. It’s like a force inside of you that keeps you forever going it seems like at least in my experience.

Amen brother, the things they accuse us of wanting to do hasn’t crossed my mind to go sin it up and live like the devil, sure I fall short daily but it’s nothing like they say OSAS produces especially once we grow spiritually in Christ daily to the best of our ability Christ is the one who enables believers to live Godly separated lives it becomes natural and effortlessly unlike those who are constantly sin obsessed sin conscience instead of Christ conscience, letting Christ live in us and through us is the most freedom I’ve experienced in my life, the anxiety fear and bondage has been subsided not because of anything I’ve done but what God is doing in me and every individual through Christ.

Great video Bob! I am OSAS! I have bounced into someone lately that is trying to drawn a distinction of 'hyper-grace' as being bad and that those folks are to be avoided but accepting of free grace. That issue is that hyper-gracers are lazy and that they sin like drunken sailors, and they will not have any rewards at the judgement seat of Christ Jesus. Do you have any thoughts on this or is the same old back loading of works heresy??

Bob, I suppose Dr. Michael Brown got light on Eternal Security by Christ only. For I have a video of him earlier stating he believes you can "step out." I hope he allowed the Spirit to confirm in him his eternal security in, through and by Christ only.

John 3:5-7 “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” Once born always born, once born again, always born again. The issue is knowing the difference between relationship and kinship. Once you are born you will always be your mothers child. No matter what kind of relationship you have with her. Once you are born into the family of God (born again) you are always His child regardless of what kind of relationship you have with Him. Relationship does not change kinship.

The main point is that we are saved through FAITH. If we are in faith in Christ we're secure. If we allow ourselves to be hardened by sin or deceived by false teachings we can become disqualified if we no longer put our faith in Christ. Hence all the warnings in scripture to persevere through all the temptations, persecution, and struggles we may face. I've known faithful people who having gone through trials and challenges did not keep their eyes on Christ and close to the body of Christ. They now reject Christ and have embraced false teachings. They are not osas. They no longer even want to be saved by Christ. They were genuinely once saved but didn't guard their hearts and heed the scriptural warnings.

I'm very adamant on this subject because of the rejection of the people in my life who said they love me and left and and never come back and I guess part of me was expecting the same thing of God but he would say that he loves me but that someday he would leave I would do something stupid and he would turn his back away from me or I would live stubbornly and he would give up on me and throw me away which would go to show my ignorance but that's what basically people are saying and to say that I can lose my salvation is losing freedom because it could be any time that I can make a mistake I grew up mostly in my life pushing myself on people because I was scared that they would reject me I don't have to be with like that with my God

What about those who say they just don't believe anymore? Those who can be taken off the vine and those that can return?

When you trust Jesus as your Savior you become "born again" or born spiritually. God at that point and forevermore becomes your heavenly Father and you are His redeemed child born into His family by faith. This is something that is eternal and can never under any circumstances be undone. How we live after this point does matter, but it can never undo what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.

What if someone at one time believed OSAS but now believes completely different that one can walk away from faith and lose salvation.

If it's not permanent, then no one could ever be "saved". They can only be temporarily (conditionally) safe. Personally, I cannot find a way around the nearly 200 verses in the NT that proclaim salvation is by faith alone. "Once saved always saved" is not just a doctrine, it's the only conclusion I can reach after reading the scripture.

A gift is given without revocation or it wouldn’t be a gift. If it can be revoked then it really wasn’t mine to begin with. The only thing you have to do with a gift is accept it or reject it.

I mean some of these people in the beginning of the video can you imagine telling someone that who has been rejected by the world who's been hurt by people that God will reject you if you mess up if you turn your back on him he will take back the precious gift to give you of eternal life this doesn't sound like the God that I serve the God that I serve is not a man that he should lie nor the son of man that he should change his mind if he said he will do it he will do it and he is the one that is going to change us not ourselves he does the work

If unbelief is a sin and you have to turn from it … technically you have to turn from the sin of unbelief to be saved….

I know people who went preaching and were once very passionate about Jesus, now the last thing they want to do is talk about Jesus, they weren't sure about their faith due to the deceitfulness of sin. Will this kind of people be saved if they continue on that path?

The one and only reason we have a chance to go to heaven by faith in Christ Jesus is that GOD IS GOOD! The Bible is about Jesus Christ… not about us! In all the Gospels we see that one leap of faith resulted in the Lord telling those people, your faith has SAVED you and yes obviously, go and sin no more. But he said saved you.. not is about to save you, keep it up! Sirs, what must I do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved and the house… period! I appreciate your responses,..but I have a question. Why would you use 72 seconds of this segment where you stated they didn’t say much they didn’t finish…& not use a portion of a segment where they gave scripture refuting your position.

Notice nothing can snatch us out of God’s hand. That implies EXTERNAL. The same goes for Romans 8:38-39. However we know based on many scriptures that sin always separates us from God and that could begin WITHIN ourselves if we allow it. We have a free will to choose everyday if we will serve sin and jump out of God’s hand or serve Jesus and remain in His love. Genesis 4:7, Romans 6:16, Hebrews 5:9 God’s grace teaches us to deny all ungodliness and to walk just as Jesus walked. Titus 2:11-15 This is salvation! We are saved not by our own works outside of Christ, but by grace through FAITHFULNESS to Christ! To be DOERS of the WORKS in Christ. Faith WORKS by love (Galatians 5:6). Love does no willful sin (Romans 13:8-10) Roman 2:6-11

What's the point of these "Scholars" ? Yeah dude ... motivation comes from never knowing where you're going till you hit tthe Finish Line (death) ? Kinda like trying to find One Ended Sticks in your backyard...? Um... ain't never gonna happen...

I recommend watching the entire original documentary to understand fully what they mean and explain how “once saved always saved” isn’t biblical, not just the introduction. I once believed in OSAS. I was a new believer that didn’t fully understand walking with the Lord yet. The term itself is flawed. Indeed we are secure in Christ, but people truly do walk away from the faith. God lets us freely choose to receive God’s free gift of salvation or not. We see the Holy Spirit leave people in the Bible. Think of King Saul. People claim Christ but they continue to live sinful unrepentant lives believing they are saved because they were once saved so always saved. Rather than telling people they are OSAS because it could be dangerous to their walk, we should be teaching them there is eternal salvation in Christ, salvation is a gift of grace through faith, and that Jesus told us to abide in Him and He would abide in us.

Saints, respect "scholars", but beware also. Remember there were Pharisees, scribes, Dr's of the law, Sadducees also. Those that are ETERNALLY SECURE IN CHRIST ONLY, HAVE THE TEACHER, THE SPIRIT. Arminians point to their works to maintain salvation, Calvinists point to works to prove salvation. Free Grace points to Jesus and his promises for assurance of salvation.

I believe in OSAS, i believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again the third day.. but i sin everyday and i have difficulty to stop, my flesh is addicted and i pray everyday for God to take me by the hand and help me, it make me depress that i cant stop this addiction for him, i hope he is not to angry.. please pray for me.

I'm a "newer Christian" (about 4 years now) but I've read through the entire Bible about 3 times hole. And the new testament 5 times hole with Bible studies everyday for about 3 hours. I'd say I have easily 100s of hours of study and I absolutely not can find anything supporting "eternal security". I mean, not in the sense that Most "once saved always saved" people have professed. I actually myself did subscribe to it originally until 1. I went through the Bible. Then "2nd" I heard a pastor say, "Even if you became an athiest until death you'd STILL be saved". I was like WHOA! That doesn't sound right at all! He also claimed to be against Calvinism but that was beyond a Calvinistic statement! Wouldn't that be God not honoring free will then? God's like "welp! You said a lil prayer one time and believed for a couple years and now YOU'RE MINE!" LOL (Sorry for the jest but that's exactly what that would mean) now I believe we can agree "once saved always saved" if you always follow the lord! How could I be saved of I decided. Christian was wrong than converted to Islam or hinduism or became an athiest?? Even worse that Once saved always saved will somehow accuse that as "being works"?! If that's the case, you're initial confession and baptism was "works"! Look I love you all but the Bible is very clear about keeping in the faith and not turning from it! I kinda believed in lordship salvation but, when I thought about it always ended up being a matter of preformance.

In order for us to be saved we must be born again AND walking according to the Spirit, bearing good fruit. Paul wrote: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus WHO WALK NOT ACCORDING TO THE FLESH BUT ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT.” (Rom 8:1). If you are saved, the moment you believe in Christ, and then that person doesn't believe in OSAS. Wouldn't they still be saved as they were sealed the moment they believed?? The thing that would be ongoing for them is that they would have ongoing anxiety, not knowing if they are saved or doing enough to be saved. I do think that not knowing you are saved and believing you have to live a perfect life and or do your utmost to not sin, turns many away from Christ as the standard is too high for them or anyone to meet really. I think thats why many non-christians believe many religious people are hypocrites, as Im sure they have seen many Christians not living a sin free life. Ephesians 2:8-9 and john 3:16 are so important 👍

OSAS is great news. Have believed it all my life. In the last 6 years or so I have come into a much more intimate relationship with Father, Son, and Spirit and have come to believe that eventually, all we confess Jesus Christ as Lord to the glory of the Father, and spend eternity in fellowship with God. OSAS is great but dims in the light of Trinitarian inclusion theology. This, by the way, was apparently the majority position of the church for the first several centuries.

Good works after Lord Jesus saves you does not make His atonement complete, or keep it effectual.

Those who deny Eternal Security do so out of a conscious or sub conscious spirit of self righteousness, perhaps disgusted with the sins and faults of their brethren.

The one who believes (in the Greek, that is the one who is believing) has eternal life, not the one who believes once and then falls away.

False doctrines can make a person feel more secure, this is not a litmus test, we must be more careful.

I mean the argument that they're trying to present is if we just go on living the way we want to live we're going to lose our Salvation we don't want to live that way anymore I hate the way I act sometimes it's like dragging a corpse around I get embarrassed by my behavior sometimes but I'm learning to take you to Jesus and I know myself I can be stubborn so bad sometimes but there's an old saying you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater I have problems but I am not the same person I was when Jesus came in my life he changed me and I have backsliding a lot it cost me a lot but it was in some of my most Darkest Hours hurting hours that God showed himself faithful to me it doesn't make sense to me that God could give us such a precious gift eternal life through Jesus just to snatch it away later what gets us into heaven is what Jesus did upon the cross the nails that he took the wrath of God poured out on him for us and that God raised him from the dead what more can we add to that

And this is the opposite side of the theological ditch. The truth rests in the middle and is 75% towards what's known as Calvinism.

We are still waiting to hear from James White if he has assurance of salvation even a decade later. TFW you don't know if you will be saved.

If you could lose salvation then everyone would lose it every day.
