Oscar Ernest Lance, 35, and his younger brother, 21-year-old Jacob Lance, pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter, arson and burglary connected to the November 2015 death of Todd Cantlay near Pendleton.
Before the fatal beating, Cantlay had called and texted Jacob Lance about Cantlay's son paying too much for drugs and being "shorted," according to a statement from the solicitor's office.
Cantlay's son, who was in his late teens at the time, had apparently bought marijuana from one of the Lance brothers, according to 2015 testimony from Nathan Mitchell, an investigator at the Anderson County Sheriff's Office.
Cantlay was killed in his century-old farm house a few miles east of Pendleton. Before being purchased by Cantlay, the McAlister House was briefly used as a wedding venue.
After Cantlay died of the blows he suffered during the beating, the Lance brothers burned his body and then stole guitars, an Xbox, a television and a rifle from Cantlay's home before driving off in his car. The brothers attempted to burn the vehicle before deputies found it in a field in Starr, according to investigators.
Items taken from Cantlay's home were found in Jacob Lance's vehicle and in Oscar Lance's home, according to the solicitor's office.

That policeman is so good at explaining everything! I also like the way he speaks, nobody would feel threatend or stressed after such a nice conversation. If I ever had to be taken for a poligraph test I would love to have such a nice friendly man who would talk with me like that before :)

Did they even do a lie detector test or just talk about it?

As someone that is trained in Interrogations and counter-interrogations. A good interrogation is when you don't even know you're being interrogated! You can compare the "Polygraph" to the U.S. Dollar. The Dollar only has value because people believe it has value, once people realize it holds no value it becomes worthless. Take the bit of information as you want, but NEVER agree to be "questioned" let alone agree to a Polygraph (there's a reason they aren't admissible in court)!

*****FYI****** It should have been placed in the description that this is NOT him taking the test to prove HIS innocence in his case. Apparently he told detectives the he had info on his brother that he also was involved in another killing in another case they’re looking at. I guess one night before all this happened, they were drinking and Jacob told Ernie that he shot some guy named MiKe Scott and also shot an old lady. At the time-Ernie didn’t turn him in. But now that Jacob has lied on him, he told detectives about what was said. Once the detectives heard this, they wanted Ernie to take a lie detector test and ask him if Jacob really told him that he shot Mike Scott and some old lady. The polygraph questions wouldn’t have anything to do with his case. The questions would strictly be about what Jacob told him in regards to the killing of Mike Scott and family. **DISCLAIMER** In the end, he says he doesn’t wanna take the test bc that would mean his brother would never get out of prison and he has a newborn at home. However-it’s so dumb, he might as well take it bc regardless, the cops now already have the info about Jacob! He already sold him out! So taking the test would help him cooperate with the police, bc they already said if he does this, they will help him out. So I’m very confused as to why he all the sudden decided not to do it. The whole thing is bizarre.

I would never take a polygraph, innocent or not, wouldn't interview, only words would be, "I want to talk to my LAWYER." Polygraph is inadmissible in court and these nice policemen are NOT your friends and are trained to twist your words... You are going to jail unless you ask for a Lawyer! 😂

Yea,the Part 2 with both these brothers..they were asking about a Scott,or a Mike Scott maybe. Seems these cops think the little brother must have been involved in something else, other than Todd's Murder..🤔

The polygraph cop was great and taught me something I never really understood completely. I feel like I could issue the test myself now! Did you see our boy wipe the sweat off his forehead while the cop was explaining it? Dude was sweating before he even got hooked up because he knew he would be lying during the test. He is a compulsive liar and sociopath!
