This video covers the everything starting at the battery down to the VP44 gearcase. The most important part is the removal of the camshaft, the rest isn't all too difficult for an experienced wrencher!

If you liked this video, let me know! I'm actively trying to improve upon my videos and how they're presented. I apologize for a period in the video where my tripod was making a racket (namely the fan pulley removal). I'd like to pick up a better camera as well as a dedicated microphone, if you have any suggestions then I'd love to hear them

Once again, another awesome video. I know filming it makes the job much longer so it’s definitely appreciated.

Thank you very much! It totally does, but I enjoy comments like this as well as knowing the videos will help people for many years! Editing is getting quicker as I learn more on how to use my program

Thanks for posting this! I'm looking to do this to my '01 in the next year or two. Not many in-depth videos like this on RU-vid... I appreciate you taking the time to film this for us!

Glad it was helpful! It takes a good bit of time to film and edit stuff but it’s worth it to help some other people hot rod their rides :)

Great video. I've got an '01 w/47 RE. 253K miles. I bought it in 2014 w/118k miles. It has a remanufactured VP44 in it that still works fine. I'm just thinking about what to do whenever it goes bad. Great series!

Great video, love that there's no time for bullshirt and no over-explaining simple tasks. P.S. How's the P-pumped 12 valve 6.7 doing?

I totally try to make these videos for the fellow mechanic, just straight info, what you need to know (with some excess knowledge dropped but tag points to skip them) The p pump 6.7L lives! It works good, I messed up and missed a good bit of potential filming because I was rushing to get it ready for a event, so I have to go back and film more things to cover some of the stuff I had to solve. Currently the truck is parked with a blown charge pipe that I need to fix (blew off and shrunk it), once that’s fixed I’ll be filming a bunch more for it

Thank you for this video series on a 24v vp44. While our path is different on this engine, you presented a great tutorial on taking one apart. I will be doing an "in-frame rebuild on my bus in the spring of 2024. My profile pix is the Titan. Just subscribed too!

Awesome! I had a customer drop by who had a 12v in a bus that he made into a motor home/toy hauler and it worked kickass! Best of luck with the “Titan” of a project!

Do you have a shop and regularly do p pump swaps for other customers ? Based on your videos and obvious knowledge in details of swap Id have a truck ready for you to start .

I have some questions regarding running the 24 valve on a p pump with the mechanical Lift pump you say you can use the 12 valve cam does the 12-v have a cam with a good profile for the 24 v? And you also said you could run the pump shutdown mechanically and I get that what I have a question on is if you were to do that in the vehicle such as that Dodge ram would you need a pull lever that would need to be physically pushed after you turn on the key or I should say before you turn on the key and then to shut off the engine and you turn off the key it wouldn't shut off the engine you'd have to push the lever?

The 12v cam is a “ok” cam, it’s not terrible like the 6.7 and late 5.9L cam, but it’s not “the best” like a VP44 cam, you probably won’t even notice any difference over the 12v cam. For the mechanical shutoff, you could rig it up such that it’s “always on” and spring loaded to that, and you pull it to “cut fuel/shut it off”. If it’s not done like that then yeah, every time you shut it off you’ll have to push it back so it can start again.

@@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge interesting, Ok so that brings the next question can you buy an aftermarket 12v cam, so it has the mechanical lift pump lobe, that will give you the air flow to make great power on the 24v head? And ya I think for anti theft purpose it might not be a bad idea to just leave it a hidden pull/push cable or lever lol

This is all just fun speculation at this point but with all the craziness in this world these days the real threat of emp makes me interested in having a versatile all mechanical and reliable transport.

Let me just put it this way I've been kicking around the idea of running a 24 valve fully mechanically with a good power and high RPM say 4 to 5k rpm and 550 to 600hp kind of a emp proof setup lol

One p pump 24v I did I used the 12 valve camshaft and ran the stock mechanical lift pump so it was fully mechanical, worked great!

I'm getting damn close to having to do this to a truck that won't run on it's own.. without hotwiring the psg... ive swapped ecms and all sorts of things... probably should light it on fire cause its a rusty 2wd and a 53 block 🤣🤣..the owner is too cheap and wants to fix it... FML...but anyway,see ya next time feller 👍👍👊
@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge
@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge 9 месяцев назад
What if you hot wire it… but key on hot wire. Like you supply power to the Vp plug via a wire tap but leave all the other OE pins connected? Or if that isn’t getting power then it could be as simple as a fuel system fuse

@@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge 👍👍..did all that...it ran when I hot wired and/ or bypassed relay...as soon as I plugged the ECM in it would quit..ended up being a shorted PCM..🤣..now it actually needs an injection pump... throwing the death code and runs like hell 🤣🤣..what a piece of shit🤣🤣

I think you did real good, maybe a little Timelapse in between. But all in all it’s a great video.

Thanks for the feedback! I incorporate a couple Timelapse in the next few videos but I agree something like that is good to break up the video with a little pause to give you time to think instead of rapid fire task after task

This ve pump for 24v is some work its a damn shame the vp44 is a shit pump
@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge
@Hazardous-Hotrod-Knowledge 7 месяцев назад
It is quite a bit of work, honestly it's probably easier to just buy a whole VE 12v and swap it in, but that doesn't have the "cool factor" of being a custom engine
