Just got my bow in today. She's beautiful. I bought a Thunderhorn quiver which is grey, black, with red stitching that matches perfectly. I also added the rabbit fur silencer to get rid of the string twang, that also match. I don't know why but, at 20 yards, I'm more accurate with this bow than any of my other trad bows. The arrows mostly just goes where I am looking. All in all, I paid $415 for the bow shipped, $100ish for the quiver and $10ish for the silencer. I bought this bow because I wanted to be able to pass down a beautiful bow to my son when I can no longer shoot or no longer on this earth. Thanks for the review because this bow, fit the bill perfectly and for me, it is exactly what you said it was on your review.
@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380 Hey, I hope all is well with you, havent seen an uploads from you for a few months. quick question, about the devourer. Can it accept fast flight strings. The string they sent was crap. I left my bow stung and the string stretched out until the bow was perfectly straight.
Just found your channel today, been watching several of your videos and wondering how you can get by with such light spined arrows, especially with 31” length arrows. During this video when you shot 3 arrows with the camera focused on you shooting buy the time you actually released the arrow there was at least 3” sticking out in front of your bow. So you are actually shooting the bow at 28”. Yes, you do initially draw it closer to 29-29 1/2” but then quickly settle in to 28” before releasing. Those 50/55 # spined arrows are really 40/45# spine at 31” . Then 160 grain points weaken them some more. I can no longer draw that kind of weight but my 30# Devourer MKI really likes 28” bop, 50/54# spined arrows with 190 grain points. I can also shoot 5# less-just prefer the stiffer ones because of 520 grain weight.
Yes I pull 29 1/2 inch the length is 32 inches or there abouts or where ever the arrows finally tune too. The arrows are made in china and are made of stiffer stock they always run a bit stiffer than American carbon arrows
No, I’m talking about the wood arrows you were shooting that you said were 31” length, correct? And I’m only talking about the wood portion sticking out in front of your bow, not including the field point. By the time you release there is 3” of wood between the back of your bow and the back of field point. Hence your true draw is really 28”.@@allthingsarcheryandshootin9380
Yea man, once you used the heavier arrows, the bow and your shooting was great! 54 our if 60 is great for the score! Good luck with it brother & God bless ya!
Oh forgot, I had to trim away those scalloped leather on the shelf because no matter what arrow I tried in the beginning flight was terrible and it always kicked tail high and to the left-am right handed shooter. I surmised my fletching was hitting that area judging by some slight wear. Finally replaced the shelf part that came from Mandarin Duck with a standard hair piece and viola arrow flight was perfect like normal from after 60+ years of shooting trad bows.
Thanks for good videos! I have practised archery in my youth and had a Samick SMT-7 take down recurve. I think it was 70 inch. I started with 36 pounds and after a while I got 42 pounds limbs. But I long for a more traditional style. This bow is very attractive. Perfect and easy to carry around in the bag. The question is what strength I shall choose. Is 40 pounds good or do I dare get a 50 pound? The best had been if the pulling weight was adjustable for gradual increase but that is not the case with a longbow. But I can prepare by some weight training for the used muscles if it is too strong in the beginning...
What is your budget the Devourer sells for $529 and the kainokai for about $100 if money is not an issue then the Devourer all day long if funds are tight it is hard to beat the Kainokai for $100 they are both fine bows
I have a 30.5" draw length and this bow is advertised to be able to handle a draw length up to 31". But does it stack at that draw? Have you drawn your on a scale past 30" to see what the weight gain was?
No stacking I can feel. I just drew the bow for you on my scale and at 30 inches it pulls 54 pounds and 31 inches it is pulling 57 pounds hope this helps
Not sure what you mean by rubber the grip is already leather just a bit slippery when your hands start to sweat. I guess you could remove the grip and make a replacement grip out of rubber. I just added a few strips of Skater tape around the grip and it works fine. It is only an issue if you have really sweaty plams...
