The funny thing is, her voice always sounds like it has zero limits. You have absolutely no clue how high, how low, how loud or soft it can get. Everything she does, every note she sings, seems perfectly natural, as if in the dead center of her range, with at least three and a half octaves both above and below were also there, waiting for her to run through them several times over with ease.
In the 80s, Patti wasn't just a singer, she was an AMBASSADOR OF SOUL! She dressed like she returned from an Intergalactic Tour! Stopping at Mars, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and back to Earth!
She is not able to replicate the studio version! she always belts out of the melody all the time and changes the melody as well making it ANOTHER SONG!
Her vocal ability is indescribable, she is at the same time funny without becoming a circus clown for her performances, she is a SHOW-WOMAN in all senses. The choir girls are fascinating, I love the way choirs do, they sound deliciously nice to my ears! 📱🎧🎶🎶🎶🎶👌🏻💯😍
This is a phenomenal performance... Her voice control is simply amazing (she's already 42 in this performance!!!), the power of her voice is stunning. And of course, she OWNS the stage. She's definitely an underrated vocalist, and should be up there with the very best!
Kostas Dimopoulos underrated?!! Nobody thinks patti labelle is not a powerhouse vocalist and legendary live performer.. where have u been for the past 30 years ?
@@gregoryjolley2434 a lot of people forget about the other girls. Everyone automatically thinks of Aretha as the best of that era. But Patti and Chaka were also CRAZYYYYYY great singers and honestly could probably outdo Aretha
@@kylesummers2462 i agree the only person i ever seen fought with pattis vocals was gladys knight 😂 those two always going at it in this performance dionne warwick said really when they was trying outdo eachother and also in 2020 when they was doing versus and not just that Cyndi Lauper ... TOO PROB CELINE DEON BUT not even she can sustain notes like Cyndi and gladys thats how they make a good fight against the godmother of soul the empress of soul and the KEEPER OF ROCK if thats even good for Cyndi
I watch this and can't stop GRINNING. She goes ALL the way in during this performance and i just LOVE the freedom. She don't CARE she just FEEEELS! Love it
True talent at her peak, she literally could do ANYTHING at that moment. So much confidence and knowing her skills that the show performance was incredible.
I could not take my eyes off her!!! What a singer!!!!!!! What a performer!! Just heard this (well, the single version) on New Girl and knew straight away it was her, despite never hearing the song before. She has a unique voice. What a gift!
Hideous. Her eyes are rolling around in her head. She could have been a much bigger star with that voice if she picked better songs and had stage presence.
+1028Dawn ...SUCK IT UP. Seems like you're an expert in the music business as to what makes a star?....alright then find me a good music label and we can talk then
I took all her performances for granted. Now watching as an adult- I’m so appreciative for RU-vid… a chance to revisit what ignored as a kid ❤️❤️❤️👏🏽👏🏽
Too bad the Chipettes couldn't make it there to perform "New Attitude" alongside Patti LaBelle. The Chipettes covered "New Attitude" in the 1980's Alvin and the Chipmunks TV Series twice. One time they covered was on the episode special "The Chipette Story," which aired on November 2, 1985. Another time they covered it was on the episode "Help Wanted Mommy", which aired on September 13, 1986. It was 4 days shy of the Chipettes' 3rd Anniversary. This would've been the first time that The Chipettes would be performing "New Attitude" alongside Patti LaBelle.
I'm a HUGE Dionne fan and even though both singers are very different in their approach to their craft - I somehow always perceive both artists in the same league. This performance by Patti is simply amazing from Sisters in the Name of Love. I felt Patti outsang both Dionne and Gladys during that special. Certianly underrated.
I was nine. I remember watching Sisters In The Name Of Love!!! This performance always stood out!!! Ms. Patti!❤️ Much love to Ms. Gladys and Dionne as well.
This proves that a singer can really drive a band with their energy. I can bet the musicians won't be able to play the song better than what they've played with her being the front woman. I am saying that because the mix isn't that good but the groove is so infectious that even the bad mixing couldn't mask the sheer commitment of the musicians in playing the song.
