It's all happening in this one. Triggered by a comment from ‪@CornishMotorcycleDiaries‬ and my recent discovery of an unusual Facebook group, I take Ernie my Royal Enfield Classic 500 out on dry but very salty roads and after showing off my goodies very kindly sent to me by ‪@johndiehardmclean23‬ I ride through Boscastle, Tintagel where I make a quick stop outside the old post office, and Delabole (unfortunately) as I make my way down to Rock to grab a bleddy ansum pasty from Malcom Barnecutt Bakery. After filling my face with the delicous Cornish delicacy and very much enjoying it, I continue on my way to Polzeath and New Polzeath to try and find a rather illusive phone box.

There's definitely far worst places to go round in circles & your on the perfect machine to do those quick u-turns mate! 👍😬 As for John Hard...Let's just say I've been called far worst! 🤣😂✌️ Glad you liked the mug, stickers & the vintage fuel gauge, which I'm glad you hadn't installed!!! 😉👍 Whoever came up with that design & produced it...Didn't have the brains to think of just looking inside the filler cap! ☹️🤣👍

What a wonderful bimble around some quaint posh villages, you might not have found the phone box but you certainly found us a view. The quarry which supplied the slate for all those houses must be massive, considering how much stone has come out of it. I hope yourself and Twinks are keeping well and getting some quality time together 😀

I know where the phone box is now. A friend has suggested a group ride down there with a pasty en route 👌🏼 Delabole slate supplies some of the best quality slate in the world, supposedly. I go there with work occasionally. Not a great deal coming out of there now but it has a wonderful history. I believe it was the biggest man made hole in the world at one point. All good here thank you Mr Wolf. Twinks and I were walking the coast path today. All the best to you and Mrs Wolf 🙂

I enjoyed that so much, I'm going to watch it again. I had no idea Polzeath had such a pretty view. So busy though! Second homeowners I guess. Can't blame them though, never get tired of that view.😊

I was really waiting to see the phone box. I know that you like "being lost" and in this case we knew what you were searching. :) It was quite crowded there and it was mid January like you said. Amazing photo. It is just great that you inserted it. Keep going Jeff.

Enjoyed that. I had one of those filler cap fuel gauges on a CB750, back in the 70s. Once you got the float position set to your desired position, in was very accurate and reliable. Far better than my Enfield digital ones. As for pasties, boy do I miss them. Lived in Germany for 40 years. Used to have a sister in Hayle who swears by Philpses, or I used to buy them in Portreath. Oh for a decent pasty 😢

Simple and effective, I prefer that to digital. With the 500 I just pop the cap and rock the bike. No gauge, no trip counter 🤷🏻‍♂️ Ah yes, I have a list of pasty establishments to try and I seem to remember Philps’s being on it. I’m sure I’ll get there at some point . Portreath is closer to me. Fantastic ride, loved seeing the cafe in Boscastle where me and the wife had a cream tea, l couldn't eat both of mine so the wife had 3. That woman eats cream like most people breathe 😂Loved that picture of the phonebox, looked like something from post apocalypse movie 👍

What a relief saddlebags, when you first mentioned the pasty shop you went on to say 'it's a totally tropical ' and I thought for some mad reason he's going to say, tropical pineapple pastie. As you came into Boscastle and veered left at the bottom over the bridge, i honeymooned in a cottage there back in Jan 2001, and yes we also had pastys in Tintagel.

John HARD? Steady on🤣 Ahhh Boscastle, one of my favourite places in the world, the cliffs up there overlooking the little beach/harbour are stunning. The peeling paint appreciation society? That doesn't sound real 😂 Been to the old Post Office, incredible bit of history and glad to see it still standing strong. Damn this has made me want a pasty 🤣 Looking forward to the rides through time video you have coming up later in the year. Ah Deelabowwl, like Sont Denis (Spoke in French!) are places to behold!!! Great as always, can't remember going to Rock either although was born just a little westward, and don't get me started on Padstein. I swear there used to be a phone box in the car park near the loos in New Polzeath, but you rode round there, aged memory I guess!

Now I have another mission to find the loos in Polzeath 🤦🏻‍♂️ I have found out since exactly where the phone box is, and it is in Polzeath proper and not New Polzeath. Peeling paint appreciation society !!! You lot need to get out more ! Oh, I suppose you do,. You're out and about looking for peeling paint, obviously 😂 It's a shame you didn't find that phone box, would be interesting to know if it's still there. Nice photo though ! Totally agree. A pasty with too little pepper is a pasty not worth bothering with ! Peppery pasties for the win every time ! Thanks for taking us on this wild goose chase with you. I was much relieved when you arrived at the pasty shop whilst they still had stock of those tasty parcels of meat and veg. But I didn't feel comfortable making requests, so in the end I didn't bother. Cracking gateway with a brew. Hope that was Cornish tea. I have the same opinion of Delabole 😂 although I got a decent pasty from the spar shop once. It’s always busy in Polzeath. Bloody nightmare in the summer.

Madly busy for the time of year around those parts! Nice dry day for it though! I cant say that im that keen on Barnecutts, I had one from their Bodmin outlet a while back and i thought they were very bland. Maybe i caught them on an 'off' day.

On the subject of History , I remember going on holiday to see one of my Aunties who married a farmer who worked on a farm in Hereford , she got married in a little Church , called St Andrews, I was 5 years old at the time and used to go their a until I was 7 or 8 , as time passed by I always thought about me playing in the fields and barn , the cottage we stayed in was in Gypsy Lane, from what I could remember I researched where it was from a wedding photographe I had when I was 5 , I identified the church ⛪️ from a lintel in the brickwork , and went down to see if I could find the place , which I did very little had changed and even the big old house across the field was still as I remember it the Barn opposite is a listed building dating back to the 1200s , even a bridge that crosses the river still had the king George post box in tact, we used to use in 1955 , and the Church is still the same , in fact the Lady living in the cottage my Auntie & Uncle lived is now occupied by the Church warden of St Andrews , still have happy memories of the place and always will , the farm was run by the Lewis family then .

Pity you didn't personally find that rusty old box, SB, but nobody can say you didn't try. The sight of that oggie made my jowls drip. Seeing as you like a peppery pastie I thought you would have been a big fan of the 'G' pastie which tastes of nothing but pepper.

what a journey today, i feel like i left my house and went out for a meal today. i would have to have my meal piping warm, unless these pastys are good cool. but it really looks amazing, not sure why we do not have them here. its a pastry breading for the outer part and filled with meat and veggies. might have to start a food truck just on that idea of a sandwich that is enclosed in pastry. you have me thinking.

Pasties can be eaten cold but I prefer them hot. This one was just the right temperature by the time I stopped to scoff it. Go for it! If you get them right they’re delicious. Maybe some trial and error involved, but all good fun eh 🙂 Many thanks Blake. Jeff
