Hello and welcome to or welcome back to the Sorta Healthy Channel!
Today, we're taking you on a personal training studio tour of our own studio, Commence Fitness, and answering the question of whether or not you should open one.
We've been in this studio location for about 2.5 years, after outgrowing our home studio. As you can see, you don't have to go over-the-top-crazy or expensive to put together a nice looking personal training studio that you and your clients will enjoy.
With good planning, and a continual build, you can design a personal training studio without a ton of money or any loans.
Our studio allows us to have 2-3 sessions running at once and perform over 100 personal training sessions a week.
If you have any questions about opening your own personal training studio, be sure to ask down below in the comments!
If you like this kind of content, please remember to like this video and subscribe to the channel as there is more personal training content on the way!

thanks a lot coach jeff your video is amazing as usual, i'am thinking to use my home as a fitness studio to train clients i know its possible but maybe my concern is about safety and also how do you recommend that to happen and what tactics should i consider and also a fitness studio should have a shower right, is there any videos about to train clients in my home
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
Thanks for the support! I trained clients in my home studio for 1-2 years before I opened my current studio. I don’t have a shower in my studio. I’ve never had any issues training clients in home studios. I would make sure it’s legal to do that where you are though, as it’s not legal in some areas. Also, make sure you have good liability insurance.

I started my gym (“studio”) in my basement with some basic equipment. Eventually I moved into a 1600sqft steel shed and I love it. All of my equipment was bought second hand with cash. I have never once had to borrow money for my gym and I tried to focus on buying stuff that my clients needed. I recommend any trainer try this- way better than making $16 an hour at a big box gym

@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 3 года назад
Thank you! I really appreciate that! As far as massage therapy goes it varies state to state and country to country. In CT I had to complete a 750 hour course to get my license in massage therapy. I would definitely look up your local requirements and see if they’re worth completing.

I did Crossfit for years before deciding to buy my own equipment and work out from home. After some time I was having many people ask if I was a personal trainer which led me to get certified through NASM. I do want to get certified through Crossfit eventually (Lvl 1) but I knew NASM would give me more credibility especially since the Crossfit gym in my town has a bad reputation due to their coaches. As of now I have 9 established clients, which I'm very happy with considering I started just a couple of months ago. My question is, do you know of any other personal trainers who do "Crosstraining" (gotta say it that way because I'm not an affiliate 😆😆) and if you do, could you handsome please do a video telling us about it? And by the way, I watch your videos all the time and they have been so helpful. I honestly think your tips are the reason I was able to get most of my clients or as I like to call them... my athletes. Love your studio, too, it's quite the beauty.
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 2 года назад
Thanks you so much! I know of some trainers who implement CrossFit type things into their sessions. I think that can work out great in the right settings. I’ll have to think about how I would structure a video on that. There definitely could be something there. It sounds like you’re doing awesome! Keep up the good work!

Great video! I recently attempted to launch a home-based PT business with the hopes of one day having my own studio. I say attempted because I have not been generating hardly any leads. I built a decent web-site with Wix, set up a Google business page, and even spent about $100 on ads. Traffic came to the site, but no leads. Any tips for starting an in-home training business?

Can you please do a video or explain on how you take your payments from your PT clients? Do you take your payments through a website or take cash in person?
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation 3 года назад
I use the software Vagaro right now. I have used square in the past. I do accept cash and check as well, but only when people pay in full. I explain some of that in the video posted below. I don’t know that I would break down specifically how to use Vagaro or Square because those two companies already have videos breaking a lot of that stuff down. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O5c4bXzbnn0.html

my dream is to open a studio too. Hopefully I will be able to do it. I'm still a new trainer, is it better to work for a company like gym shark or the gym first and after start your own business ? and one more question. will you make a video about designing and demonstrating a programme without equipment? Maybe one or two dumbells or resistant bands. thanks

I always recommend working for a gym or a different studio owner for at least a year or two before opening up your own. I definitely plan on making a few videos covering training with less equipment soon!

@@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation Looks quite big for a 1200sq ft .. But really neat and compact! Does investing in a studio just for PTs work out? I mean, don't you let clients train on their own there? I really like the concept but thinking if it would work out here in India. Any suggestions?
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation

Having a private PT studio can work in any area where there is a fair amount of disposable income. I’m not in a wealthy area, but there is some level of disposable income. My clients only come into the studio when they have a training session, so there is no membership fee. It’s certainly a different business model, but it can work well in the right spot!

Hi sir i am certified trainer working in a gym from 5years as personal trainer.last month i quit now i have opened personal training studio but little low confidence because of less walkin i don't know how to make it successful please guide
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
This is a tough question to answer here but, make sure that you have some solid marketing (website, social media) and network with people around you (other professionals, building neighbors, etc.). These things can really be helpful for getting people through the door.

I turned 31 last week, I live in England and I’m currently working in debt collection (in a callcentre) and have been there for 8 years and I hate it. I’m passionate about health and fitness & self improvement and having a personal training studio sounds really good to me. I have zero experience or qualifications for the fitness industry and don’t know where or how to start. What would you recommend I do. Thank you
@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation

Thanks for checking out the video! It sounds like this career could be a good option for you. I would recommend starting off part time as a trainer and building up from there to see if it’s the right career for you. In the UK certifications are different than here in the US. You guys are best off pursuing level 2,3 and possibly 4 certifications as far as I can tell. I haven’t done a ton of research on that yet, but I plan on looking into it more in the future.
