There are a few common issues that seem to come up again and again as we observe players dinking technique during play.
Most of them could be fixed pretty easily with a little attention and drilling.
Most people are simply unaware that a few little tweaks could improve their dinking considerably.
With that in mind we came up with this video on the 5 Keys To Successful Dinking.

1. Continental grip 2. Consistent stroke (short swing path in front) 3. Use your legs 4. Net clearance (1 to 1.5 feet) 5. Hit into the kitchen

5. Hit it at their feet. (If they've stepped back, you don't want to hit into the kitchen but want to keep them back if you can).

9 out of 10 dinks for me are long. It is a very delicate balance between overshooting and hitting the net. Annoying as hell. You make it look sooo easy. Great video.

1) The Grip Continental handshake 2) Swing Path Low to High consistent motion take ball in front of body short Back swing short follow through 3) Use your legs get low to the ball move your feet 4) Net Clearance significant margin over net 5) Hit it in the Kitchen limits opponents offensive opportunity

The small tennis like step at legs - doesn’t that waste energy, especially on a speed up you might be caught in between doing that step and standing on the balls of your feet

Exactly! I was going to comment on the same thing when I heard him talking about that. The V between the thumb and the first finger should be at the top of the handle (or the 12'clock position), like you were holding a hammer. Using the handshake grip (Easter Grip) when doing a backhand with the wrist in a neutral position will cause the paddle face to open up slightly, whereas a Continental grip will keep the paddle perpendicular to the ground with a neutral wrist.
