One detail you might have missed is that Zoro SPECIFICALLY says, "If the first thing out of Usopp's mouth isn't an apology, we are leaving him behind." Obviously, Usopp doesn't start with an apology at first, but Zoro and Luffy just pretend not to hear him until he apologizes. I love this detail, because it shows how much Zoro wanted Usopp back on the crew as well, despite his harsh words.

One of my favorite aspects of One Piece are these "in between" arcs that act as a cooling off period for the emotional intensity of a major arc, AS WELL AS being a massive world-building dumping ground for everything going on not directly related to the Straw Hats. Glad you enjoyed this one too!

There's an encyclopedia (wich Blackbeard had a copy of) with known devil fruits (categorized fruits that have been eaten before and drawn how they look and described what their ability is) the 2 fruits Kaku and Kalifa ate weren't yet known. Thus they didn't know what the power would be.

It's never explicitly stated because Oda loves to play loose with the passage of time, but I think the journey from East Blue to Water 7 couldn't have taken more than a couple of months in-canon (though it took literal years in manga publication and anime production, explaining Oda's evolving art style and character designs)

Regarding the Sunny being scraped I don't think that will be the case until they complete the journey. Every Straw hat has a dream. Franky has the dream of making the ship which sail the complete new world. The best ship so as to speak. Sunny is that ship. Franky would never let the ship go to scrap. It will be like telling Luffy won't be a Pirate King. Ships already have an established significance in this world. Oda just did not let Merry be destroyed in dangerous waterfall in Water 7. He gave her a proper Viking funeral. She even had sentience. So idea that Sunny would be scraped is deeply offensive to Franky.

you know garp told me that originally the going merry was going to be the only ship to ever be used in the series, but Oda realized that the scope of the series was expanding too much so he had to have a more fitting boat that would last alongside the series, meaning that the new ship is designed to be used up until the end.

The marine and the world government are not really two separate entities. I mean, they are, but the marine is pretty much like the army in our world: it is under the control of the government. It has its own leaders and ways of functioning, so it has some kind of autonomy (which means it could potentially rebel against the world government, as the military could (and in some cases has) rebel against the government in the real world) but for now the marine just follows the government's orders. So it's not like Vegapunk works for the marine as opposed to the government, he works for both, because the marine is part of the government, or more specifically the marine is the armed force of the government

Garp told me that we know from Robin's flashback that the Void Century ended 800 years ago, so when Whitebeard is referring to "that era" that not many people remember, he just means the "golden age" of the previous generation, not anything to do with the Void Century / Poneglyphs. Whitebeard was a part of that generation along with Roger, Sengoku, Garp etc when they were all in their prime so here in this scene he's basically just being nostalgic.

We learned the Ages of the Strawhats pretty early on in the Manga during East Blue. Oda has a Question Corner in the back the Manga Volumes where he answers questions like this. Luffy is 17, Zoro is 19, Usopp is 17, Nami is 18, Sanji is 19, Robin is 28, Franky is 34, Chopper is 16.

Something funny is that there is an extremely old theory, not yet disproven, that Dragon might not actually be Garp's son. Maybe he was adopted, maybe he married into the family and as a nameless person took his father-in-law's name (something that happens in japan even today with Brands and Companies tied to a family). Garp has not yet called Dragon his son, be it in the manga or the anime. Never did so. He called Luffy his Grandson, he said that he is his Kid/child (neutral)'s son, but he never calls Dragon his son. He specifically only refers to him by name or with "your father". The simplest answer is obviously that he cut his connection with Dragon and only views him as an add-on to his grandson, but the fact that he never ends up calling him "his son" honestly keeps me interested and entertained. (P.S. I mean, Ichigo's father from Bleach took his wife's surname. Naruto took his mother's surname. It would not be the strangest thing to happen in manga.)

Regarding the filler, definitely a good choice to skip. When you catch up you could always do a filler ranking tier list though, that might be fun

You may not have realized this but the Four Emperors are basically like the Elite 4 from Pokemon. They're who Luffy has to beat to become Champion.

Garp told me that this video would be the longest and most exciting video of yours to date. I'm so glad to have watched it the second it became available. So things I want to comment on -Regarding what you said about the time that has passed since Luffy started his journey. It's never been outright stated anywhere and the most we have to go on is fan speculation, but by all accounts, we're watching the Strawhats adventures across the grandline in relative real time; with them spending a few days to a few weeks at every new island location and maybe a few days to weeks travelling in between these places. All in all, it feels to me like between when Luffy left his home and the end of this arc, it can't have been more than a few months (six at most) based on what we've seen. What that means with regards to Coby and Helmeppo's redesigns is just that Oda felt like taking their characters in a slightly more developed direction and so decided to make them look different to accomodate the change. In universe, the easiest explanation for why they look so different is just that training with Garp makes you into a chad, I guess. -I literally laughed out loud at your astonishment at finding out about Luffy's dad in this video and calling back to when you joked about it previously. Though I laughed even harder at some of the stuff you said jokingly in this video as a result too. -With regards to what you said about the ship, I'm not spoiling anything but I can tell you that when One Piece was meant to be a much shorter series initially, the Going Merry was intended to be the crew's ship through to the end of the series and the loss of the ship was as much a result of the stories ballooning in size as it was the in universe result of all the damage it had accumulated. Basically Oda came to the conclusion that the spunky ship that could that he had written for the crew could not handle the extreme shit that is to come as the series goes on and wrote its death into the story as a result. Which is why the Thousand Sunny seems to be written to be so OP as a result. Hopefully that goes some way towards answering a couple of your questions without giving you anything concrete in terms of spoilers. -You're definitely getting a good grasp on the basic idea of what Haki is meant to be. Rest assured, there's more to come in terms of answers in that realm. -I can only hope you continue to have this much fun if not more so as you continue going along with the anime. Looking forward to your next one and all the ones to come after!

That was 10 years ago, back when I was still 20 or so. I look forward to the next video, as the little teaser tells me we are reaching my favorite arc very soon.

But when you mentioned that 9:53 we've only see the cp9 using shave, but we've actually seen Captain kuro using this technique back in syrup village. Oda mentioned that those techniques are pretty much the same but the only different is that the cp9 can control it much better than him.

Blackbeard's fruit also does the opposite of what other Logias do. While most Logias allow you to evade conventional attacks from fists to bullets, this Logia not only draws in attacks like you said, but his pain from ANY attack he receives is double the amount of pain it would've caused without the fruit's passive effect.

Yes Haki will be explained but dont expect it to be soon. There are detailed records of devil fruits in books, but there are lots of fruits that no one yet knows what they do, (more explaining of this later).

Oda foreshadows EVERYTHING, and you don't even realize it's happened until the reveal is already done, then your mind immediately jumps back to "OH WAIT THAT SCENE" and it's the most surreal feeling watching how **everything** has a payoff

Just in case no one said it but you seem to have not noticed but Black Beard mentionned a book in wich he discoverd the DF he came to desire, an index book with all known Devil Fruits in the record history(past)/recent years. Kalifa and Kaku were unknown DF because they were not, either discovered or register by people/Gouvernement before Kalifa/Kaku they eat those fruits and expose their powers.
