First, thank you for taking the time to post this information. I acquired a ‘90s unisaw a few years ago and there was not much on RU-vid about it. Mine came missing parts and was rigged to work with bolts. I eventually was able to piece together all the parts needed from eBay and now have a stock working fence. I added the 42” Peachtree fence recently and love having that as an addition to the stock fence. Your tutorial just helped me fine tune everything. Again, thank you for posting this!

Thank you for this video. I have a Delta Unisaw circa late 1990s with this extruded aluminum fence. Yes, it needed to be cleaned and reconditioned. Your fix and process worked perfectly. Better than NEW for the next 30 years!

Best advice I've seen for proper adjustment of the Unifence! Thank you for posting this! The Unifence is by far, IMO, the best fence ever made. Last year I was fortunate to find a brand new in the box 2005 Unisaw X5 but sadly it came with a Biesemeyer fence. I can tell you after using it for a year that despite all the acclaims it gets it is vastly inferior to the Unifence in terms of accuracy, repeatability and versatility. I have finally decided to remove the Bissey and replace it with the more reliable Unifence. I have found a source of replacement fence extrusions, but have yet to find where I can obtain a new 52" rail.

Those are elusive as hell, people say to look at estate sales... like you mention I find it more versatile than any other I've used. The ability and speed to slide the fence fwd. or back and to flip it 90° downward is incredibly awesome. Let alone setting it to float so I can cut off vacuum forms a 1/4" thick with a perfect flange in seconds. I'm certainly with ya'! Damn good fence for sure. I put one on my brothers saw and he's been grateful for decades! Imagine using a stock fence for a lifetime?

Can you explain in more detail about "rolling" the ramp angles? Are you sanding, grinding, filing, burnishing to get that rolled edge?

At 2:13 you can see a reflection indication of the roll size and its more than enough to force engagement. Use a fine file and keep the edges flat while rounding them. You don't want any file marks or sanding marks leftover when your done. If the edges are nice and flat and smooth, engagement will also be smooth. FYI, rough edges are not good for the inside of your fence rail extrusion so sand smooth and you'll be rewarded with how nice it works now.

Anyone ever seen a jig for this type of fence to cut panels vertically?

@@silentsun67 No I have not but you could easily make one. I'd make a sled that cradles the part and cant go anywhere left or right and clamp it in place. Then raise the blade into and through the sled and now you can move a panel through it and have it guided the whole way...get it? Like a window in a track.

I'm sorry I feel everything is self evident attempting to shorten videos. I start by tapping the roll pinin part way first, then put the 2 together and drive the pin home till slightly subsurface by a few taps of a bang stick lol. I prefer a C clamp that negates the hammer-time typical to drive these home.
