My goodness not me! I think I have almost finished the dig on my pond after a year and a half! We have had unbelievable weather here in Virginia for the past week. What a great way to welcome the new year. It dried out just enough for me to get out there with the shovel. What will I do when I finish digging and I don't have that as a hobby? Hm. Anyway, I've just purchased your book online and I had purchased your DVD last year. I'm having so much fun and now I'm at the point of working on the filters and stuff and I'm dreading doing that incorrectly. Looking forward to getting the book. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I don't screw it up! Ta

Thank you so much for your responses. Also, what is the best way to fix the timber wall into the pond? Please keep up the great work :)

Instead of using sandbags, you can try rammed earth !

What is the life of a liner? what happens if the liner is worn out over the years? what is the least damaging way to replace it?

I need to ask you about locations. I have a farm and it is quite hilly with sever run off issues. I do want to build two pools. Can you suggest the best way to determine where to place these ponds. Thank you.

Hello to you David and The Always Lovely Sarah, I am pained by your jackets and hats. I am in transit from Miami Florida to Thailand. Neither of which are cold. I am planning to build a pond on this 4-6 month holiday. Don't get too excited. I'm only building a "splash pool".... very much like the greenhouse pond that your turtle died in.... R.I.P. little fella. Dimensions??? .... 1 meter deep with a 0.5 meter dug into the ground and with a 0.5 above ground using sand bags for a total 1 meter deep. .... 2 meters wide. .... 3 meters long. All of the sand bags will be outside the liner. To keep it cool: It will have a sun shade tarp above it with plants and more plants to keep it cool. I am going to pack the extra dug out soil onto the out side of the sandbags to help insulation and to break up the transition of a wall into a slope with many more plants growing for more shade. For my rocks???? I'm placing a blue plastic 55 gallon drum in each corner with a bubbler and a pvc pipe in each one for circulation. I think both rocks and plants are needed but I think plants are the most important for cooling, filtering and reducing nutrients. If it fails? Low input and very easy to restore back to pre-build. If successful??? In a few more years, I'll upgrade to the traditional 4 meter x 8 meter with 2 meter deep.... There aren't the same laws out in the rural rice farms of Thailand. But I am going to put a safety fence with vines and NOW, after this clip, to help limit evaporation. It will be very close to a LARGE metal roof with plenty of rain except a few months in the winter when it's dry. Love yall's clips, help and ideas.

Was your setup successful as described? I’m toying w the idea of a small “splash pool” and wondered if your innovation proved useful. Thanks

I’ve got a question: Is there ANY way to have a *warm* natural pool year round? As in 70-75F... I had thought about a greenhouse for winter with maybe a rocket mass heater pipe around the bottom when it’s cold, and greenhouse opened on two sides at least, in summer...??

I mean, in part, can plants survive and clean the pool with those temps?
