I just stumbled across your channel from a g8 video from 4 years ago and now the only thing I’m mad at is you need to start posting more lol great content man keep it up
Great upload Joe! thank you. 100% yes we prefer ID's and also FIC's. Nice to have drop down data with the FICs. I will say depending on power goals DEKA 60's or 80's GENUINE seem to be good with Holley and their data.
It's nice seeing you drive these vehicles instead of purely dyno. There's a local big name shop that only dyno tunes and never goes on the street after to double check everything. The last 7 out of 7 tunes I've redone after them have been deadly lean at higher load mid-high rpm. If it was street driven after, even with no datalogging, they would see a problem when it breaks up at higher rpms. After making the necessary VE adjustments (GM ecu), the 70s Camaro went from running mid 12s @ 115 mph to 11.08@122 mph in the 1/4 mile. Timing was untouched as the previous tuner had it fairly maxed out without knock for the Procharged setup.
Totally noticed the same thing with coolant temps and fuel demands. Starting up hot with coolant temps around 207*F for a little bit, wanted a different amount of fuel than when it would cool off to 192*F after a short drive.
I'm aware of the circumstances but I love it when when a customers ride starts acting up and automatically thinks it's the tune. My coworker cant grasp the concept either. He'll build something and have a fueling problem or something and want me to look at the tune 50 times.
I had sep injectors, one stuck open, one would intermittently cut out which melted a piston, replaced with a set of some odd 3/4 length bosch units, been running perfectly ever since.
I had similar issues with cheap injectors. It took me a while to narrow it down. From now on, it is worth the extra few bucks to get some decent injectors and not have to deal with that again.
I will be new to hooking up the Holly and you mentioned before when it comes to electrical do not skimp so I purchased a set of Holly hundred pound injectors to go with the Holly Terminator x. I figured I can't go wrong with that. I hope.
I'm in no way saying their QC guarantees anyone else having the same experience I have, but I've done the entire power tour and put another 3000 miles on my snake eater 100 lb injectors. I even ordered their extra cheap super china ones before they started offering the "same factory as bosch german sourced" injectors. I quit making any major tune changes 6 months ago and mainly have just been racking miles and I check in every now and then on the tune to make sure it's not going nuts. I ordered them being cheap thinking I'd blow up the bottom end learning to tune a turbo car for the first time anyways. If they fail however, I've got enough time and money dumped into the build that I'll end up going with nice name brand ones next time.
Joe, love the channel. What are your thoughts on SEP? Specifically, GB SEP / Bosch 34mm 1000cc/min, 96lb/hr@43PSI Injectors?? I am using the Terminator X on my Gen 4, 6.0 LS swap.
What's your opinion on fuel injector clinic injectors? That's what I bought for my car but I haven't finished assembly yet. Edit: just got to the part where you said fuel injector clinic as you second option Also, I have the course and missed out on the deal for them because I didn't check first. Live and learn.
Joe, i have a N/A 5.3 LS swap in my c10. I have a cam and thats it. What injectors should i run? Im having problems with my terminator x going into closed loop and learn mode. I have a feeling these stock injectors are my problem
i've had vehicles be fine for 10-20 drives and then have weird shit like this. Sometimes it was injectors, sometimes it was O2s. Poorly positioned O2 installs cause early failure too.
They sound like they need to familiarize themselves with Holley better. And my buddies nearly new snake eater 1000s had an injector stick wide open after a pull. Stranded us. Snake eater blamed him for swapping o rings on one injector. Which he didn’t do. Installed them right out of the box
ID or FIC for injectors Brand new. Anything used even those fresh flow sheet. This way no body wastes there time and things are not hurt due to injectors.
How do you feel about Deatschwerks injectors? I bought a set of 16U-00-0050 50# injectors and they ran great with my generic Chinese sheet metal intake, then I swapped to a LSX-RT intake with their 17U-21-0050 and I can't seem to get it to run no matter what I do tuning wise. (yes, I entered the new injector data lol) I pressure/smoke tested the intake just in case it was warped or just had a bad vacuum leak, but it's sealed up with no leaks.
I want to add, sure you can look at the AE tables as they are being using but you can't get a good log of what is actually going on with the AE PW vs the overall PW, since the parameter does not exist.
Anyone know what EGT is too high for a single turbo 351W 70mm E85 with the holly Term x? EGT Mounted 12 inches from the driver side collector before turbo. My bronco is running 900 EGT on idle and it’s scarry.
To be good at anything, You have to be obsessed. sence i have limited brain Function and im not a racer. I think my Attempting to learn to tune at a Level 40% of What jo can do. Would be like Going to medical school because I have a broken ankle. By the time I figure it out. It will have grown back together all Crooked.
