Anyone else really proud of the kid in the first story? Not only did they not use the knife, and have emotional regulation to relax, but they also handed over knife to their worker. Based on the image that OP painted of who they work with, that kid deserves some mad props.

The bowling alley story has me so emotional. There are so many layers to everyone involved, but OP’s focus never left their client. What a human! Even getting the knife back from the kid after the fact. It warms my heart bc I had classmates that couldn’t control their anger as kids that are now in prison for violent crimes. I wish some of them had an OP to confide in and learn from.

Accusing someone of selling drugs in an online review is not protected under the 1st Amendment as it's accusing someone of committing a Federal Crime. OP can request Yelp (or whatever) through a warrant for information regarding the user who posted the review. Most likely the Karen wasn't smart enough to hide her IP Address and can be tracked even though it's a throwaway account.

I love how the kid went silent and still, eyed up the knives and even had one in hand. See, when Karen's approach me in public and try to act like the guy in the first story, my final move is to tell them "leave me alone or I'll scream" which usually gives them the hint. I mean, I'm polite first, but if you're not getting it and getting in my face, I will 100% scream. I'm a fight over flight reactive person, screaming is my last line of peaceful resolution.

That last story reminded me of something. I've never been the best driver. Straight C in drivers ed. (eventually found out I was narcoleptic but that's another story). One time I accidentally cut some guy off because I wasn't paying close enough attention. He went into full road rage mode pulled up beside me at the next light and yelled out his window: "Can't you even drive!" I responded in a loud clear voice: "No I can't, I'm sorry." He seemed to except this answer and visibility calmed down and drove of quietly as the light changed.

On the last guy: he turned ghost white because he thought it's fine to make fun of people with disabilities if they're not there. He thought that calling someone a retard is ok if they're not mentally disabled. So he knows enough to understand that it's wrong to say it, but not enough to be empathetic. He just wants to sound nice, not actually be nice. Of course of you blow up on people and insult them like this, even if they did make a mistake, means you're not even close to being a nice person.

When I worked in retail these stories used to stress me out. I retired last year and I now find them hilarious.

That last story pissed me off so much. I suffer from a traumatic childhood brain injury and that has effected my memory, speech, and mobility as an adult. But I work incredibly hard to be a working member of society. When I'm working, I'm a Creative Director, coordinating dozens of writers and artists. When my brain does what I call a "short circuit", I become disoriented, irritable, my short term memory doesn't work, and the more I become stressed, the worse I get. If someone said this to me while shopping, I dont know if I'd be able to refrain from punching someone. People born with brains that take in the world a little different from you arent a slur to toss around when you feel someone isn't being nuerotypical. 😤

First story: First of all, never _ever_ let an unknown contact within your reactionary gap, especially when they're already acting violently. I doesn't matter if the guy is double your body size and looks to be able to toss you one-handed across the room. I've seen cases where these "tough guys" have done everything from merely grabbing people's collars to sucker punch them or worse, and it usually never ends well for the unprepared victims. It's safer to just put a barrier between you and those kind of people - or better yet, bless them with some "hot sauce" to cool down their violent tendencies. Second story: This makes me wonder if you can file a restraining order for cyber bullying as well. I mean, so many fake negative reviews should be a justified case for IP tracing, since it's basically harassment, slander and stalking all in one. I wouldn't put it beyond me to at least try it if I was OP. Don't let her soil your business reputation because she lacks the mental fortitude to learn her lesson. Third story: It takes some real small-mindedness to assume someone's mental capacity or intentions with absolutely zero context to judge with. Sad that there's such an abundance of people like this out there, who likes to throw insulting buzzwords around and think that makes them any greater or smarter.

My Dad is a Tattoo Artist and owns a shop, I spent a Summer answering the phone for him and doing all the computer work, making appointments, dealing with payments, etc... We had a few entitled people. We constantly had 13-16 years calling or coming in alone or with a family member that wasn't their guardian and try to get work done and throw temper tantrums when we told them we couldn't do it without a legal guardian unless they were 18. One memorable one was a 14 year old girl wanted to get her Nipples pierced and had her aunt with her, who was not her legal guardian. For Nipple Piercings or any genitalia piercings or Tattoos in Inappropriate Areas the person had to be 18 at Minimum. It didn't matter if they had parental consent or not in these cases, they had to be 18. The girl and her Aunt threw temper tantrums the whole time they were there trying to get us to pierce a 14 year Olds nipples. Like wtf, how stupid can you be, it's No, 100% No.

The tattoist could've sued the karen for defamation too if she could find proof that those reviews were from her.

To be fair, in the last story the dude couldn't possibly know OP had some kind of brain damage, and he probably thought he got pranked, or whatever, so it was understandable for him to get somewhat angry. Even if OP wasn't working, if you ask someone for directions, and they (assumingly intentionally) give you wrong directions, it's natural to be upset.

When people say the "'EXCUSE ME!" when trying to my attention, I always answer them with "Why? did you fart??"

The first story was wild. Just casually mentioned, that she made the kid return the knife he stole. First of, she's in a terrifying situation and noticed him stealing it? Wow, OP is damn good at her job. Although she might have expected it. Second of, that man never realized, that he could have been murdered at any moment for harassing her. That's kinda scary. Thirdly, that kid unlocked a new skill 'how to deal with a Karen'. That was a life lesson for sure for him. Fourthly, I find the protectiveness really sweet and the kid did a really good job restraining his instincts. He definitely wanted to attack that guy, but he held himself back and got rewarded with a guy making himself an even bigger idiot and a laughing stock.
