Your cattle crew will grow as the neighboring young cowboys come to help and court Sissy. Bad news is your cowboys will start to wander over to the neighbors to help. Fun times ahead. Wandering cattle and wandering kids. Good luck ole dad.

Dam, those kids are getting the best upbringing. Comming from a large family of 8 boys and 2 girls it amazes me how well those boys get along, we were always fighting or arguing about something on the farm and being the Ridgie of our family (second youngest) I seemed to cop most of it. Must be the good family values and a handy upbringing y'all is providing them.

My father kept our old baler working with 'swears and prayers'. One year it broke and the part wouldn't be in for a week. We had hay on the ground and couldn't wait. We welded a tongue onto my grandfather's old horse-drawn dump rake so it could be pulled with the tractor. I rode on the rake, stomping the pedal. We then loaded the hay loose onto the wagon, using pitchforks, and got it into the barn before the rain came. I learned some 19th century pitchfork techniques I'll never use again, but that day really made me appreciate hay bales!

Nice buckle collection. I think they started mid 1970s. The cattle drives are fun to watch. Thank you for all your work in getting these videos for us to watch. We use empty soda and gatorade bottles for ice, wash them out so you can drink the water and fill them about 3/4 full, they last all week if you can pack them in a good cooler like your freezer. Stay safe and healthy.

I grew up in New England in the 70s and 80s, and there were only the small hay bales. We handled them all by hand, with a lot of throwing and carrying. Picked them up in the field and threw them up onto a hay wagon 6 or 7 layers high, then unloaded and stacked them into old barns, throwing them up 8-10' above the wagon, stacking right to the roof. Those small bales only weighed about 40 pounds, but 3 people getting in 800-1000 bales a day, after having to carry and throw each one by hand, multiple times, was tiring.

I would go and work for free for a week just to see the scenery and cow/calves . The blk and white with horns reminded me of my cow she had a tow tone paint and normal horns. Was always easy to tell my calves from polled Herefords. I wish I would have been as smart as Riley and just take the biggest yearling !!! LOL just kidding Riley. Fred Fellows, CA Emeritus (b. 1934) Fred Fellows was born in 1934 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, home to the Ponca and Osage Indians. Early influences that shaped his desire to be an artist and nurtured his love of the cowboy life included his aunt who went to Taos, New Mexico every summer to study under Nicolai Fechin and Birger Sandzen. She encouraged Fred to draw and paint at an early age. He also grew up listening to stories of the Old West from his grandmother's brother who rode in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and later the 101 Ranch Wild West Show, as well as his grandfather who went to Tonopah and Goldfield, Nevada, during the 1905 gold rush. Fred started out as a saddle-maker for Butler Saddlery in Paramount, California, and went on to be a cowboy on the Jamison Ranch at Monolith, California, and then an art director for Northrup Aircraft. This all led to an interesting blend of art and the West, and a lifetime of painting and sculpting. Fred is the longest active member of the CAA, joining in 1969. He has won Gold and Silver medals in drawing, sculpture and painting. One of his proudest moments was to receive the highly coveted CAA Award at the 2007 show, voted by active members for the best overall exhibition. He also is proud of his wife, Deborah, an accomplished sculptor, who is a member of the National Sculpture Society and inductee into the National Cowgirl Hall Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth, Texas.
