The Tamiya TT-02 will be released soon. So here is an idea of what to do with your old Tamiya TT-01s: In my first tutorial I like to show you, how I converted my Tamiya TT-01 from a touring to a rally car.

This video has inspired me to finish off my rally conversion. I bought some some bumper body posts to prepare when Vaterra releases the '72 Camaro body to do a Max Max sort of car. I had a Vaterra '69 Camaro before, but the ridiculously low ride height meant I had to be choosy where to use it even though the pan had ample scaring after an hour of first use. Thanks for the detailed share and the conversion over to English.

Yes, I can totally recommend an internal body. I used a TT-01 raincover to keep the dirt out, but a cutted plastic bottle will also do the job. During shooting my winter rally video my raincover comes loose and I didn't had duct-tape with me to fix it. So all the snow comes in and finally blocked the steering. Thank you very much for watching!

Hello Sean! No, the car in this video already have some tuning parts, because it was used for competition onroad racing. The following tuning-parts are installed in the car: - Aluminum drive-shaft - CVA-Dampers - Ball-bearings Everything else is still stock. Thank you for watching and for your comment!

TeamIngel I wonder if 62mm shocks would work? I'm planning on building a rally spec for myself
@TeamIngel
@TeamIngel 11 лет назад
You're welcome and thanks for subscribing to my channel! Yes, the friction shocks are a little bit stiffer then the CVA-Shocks with the same springs. Maybe put a drop of oil on the inside to smooth them out a little bit. If you don't want to compete with your rally car, maybe put some additional weight on it. I think that this should also help a little bit.

I just did this conversion today and it is sweet. I'm in love. I'm using the stock touring wheels with foam ok traction but really need rally tires. I also have shocks from my old traxxas street sport, they extend to 70mm. Thanx for the vid i didn't know about the out drive cup trimming part.

your video showed up as a suggestion but the initial ground clearance was not 6mm. Your ruler has a blanc space in front (before 0). That counts too. So the initial ground clearance is at least 12mm :)

+Antuan Perez For some reason I can't reply directly to your comment. So I'll try it this way. As far as I know, you don't need to do any modifications on the TT-02, because it is available in a rally version. But I'm not shure if you can build any kit in rally setup or if you need some extra parts. Maybe this thread on R/C-Tech is a little helpful: www.rctech.net/forum/electric-off-road/828544-tamiya-tt02-tt-02-rally-off-road-thread.html Thanks for watching!

How does this compare to the performance of the XV-01 Chassis? Im trying to make a decision on what to buy
@TeamIngel
@TeamIngel 10 лет назад
I think that the XV-01 is more suitable for offroad driving, because this is what it was designed for. But it is also a lot more expensive. I never really had any problems with my TT-01 when driving it offroad, it's a very reliable chassis. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment.

Hi, TeamIngel, It has been a loooong time since you were part of my inspiration to "rallify" my TT01 Plastic tub version, then my HSP/Exceed/Redcat "Driftstar" aka Flying Fish,[a mirrored clone of the HPI maverick Strada] and not a TT01 with Carbon Chassis. I sold my plastic tub TT01 because it was time to grow... i then had the HSP Flying Fish, which was 200mm(i have had problems sourcing a Rally based 200mm bodyshell) i then upgraded my Flying Fish with metal Arms and Carbon Fiber chassis i also have the 3racing upgraded TT01... Nostalgic! but do you think it is ok to cut out the same areas for increasing ride height?

@TeamIngel
@TeamIngel 10 лет назад
You're right, you will have a better performance with a softer setup on rough terrain. I'm using soft springs and a soft shock oil at the moment. But you can also try soft springs and a medium shock oil if you have problems with jumping. Thank you very much for watching and for leaving a comment.

@happiman9484
@happiman9484 10 лет назад
is the tt-01 chassis same as tt-o1e chassis and if they are what are some good tires for making it a rally car
@TeamIngel
@TeamIngel 10 лет назад
The chassis are basically the same. The only difference is an upper deck in the TT-01E. I have not tried many different rally tires, but I think the ones from Tamyia are ok but a little stiff. The tires from HPI are a little bit softer. There are big RC-Rallys held in the Czech Republik. As far as I know, they are all driving tires called "ARP Rally Block", which are looking like the ones from Tamiya but they are very much softer. Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment, I really appreciate this.

The stock "shocks" that come with the TT01 or the TT01E only allow the vehicle to be at the height that the uncut skid plates allowed. To make your car raise you need higher coil overs.
