It's easier to remember the dwarves' names by the way they are in groups - all the ones with similar names are brothers of each other. Fili and Kill; Balin and Dwalin; Dori, Nori, and Ori; Oin and Gloin; Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur. The books describe them as all having long beards - not different beard and hair styles for each one. I recommend the Rankin & Bass cartoon version.

Many of the extra material isn't from "The Hobbit". That's true. But is from another Tolkien's books: "The Unfinished Tales". Those books presents some unfinished writings from Tolkien that was published by his son Christopher, after his death in 1973. In those books, Tolkien wrote about the White Council, their rol in the war against the Necromancer and many other things. Peter Jackson took those less known source of material for the movies. So, many people think that Jackson invented those parts. But was Tolkien who created.
@verbaluk1
@verbaluk1 3 года назад
While some parts are 'inspired' by Unfinished Tales, they didn't have the rights to use the material directly. Also, it's only a few parts; most of the extra material is the invention of Jackson/Walsh/Boyens/Del Toro.

@Ryuvern
@Ryuvern 3 года назад
@@danilooliveira6580 In the Middle Ages, often dragons were depicted with two legs and two wings. "Wyvern" is a word used for two legged dragons since the 16th or 17th century, and means viper (a kind of snake) just like "dragon" comes from the latin draco which also means snake... so wyverns are dragons and Smaug is awesome.
@danilooliveira6580
@danilooliveira6580 3 года назад
@@Ryuvern historically Wyverns and Dragons were used interchangeably, it was mostly a regional thing, what a dragon looked like could change completely depending on who you asked. in modern literature every Wyvern is a Dragon, but not all Dragons are Wyvern. as for Lord of the Rings, Smaug is canonically depicted as a classical 6 limbed dragon, there is even artwork from Tolkien himself that depict him like that (in the damn map he is 6 limbed). Smaug was even 6 limbed on the cinematic version of the first movie, they changed it later in production for... some reason. its important because Glaurung, the first Dragon, had no wings, it was more like a huge lizard that could breath fire, and others were just huge serpents, like Scatha, and then later dragons grew wings from their back, like Smaug and Ancalagon.

Gandalf is responsible for getting all the forces of good together against Sauron. Gandalf and the other wizards are Maiar which are beings created by Iluvaar the supreme deity of Arda (Middle Earth). Cardolan, Arthedain and Rhudaur were 3 parts of Arnor - the norther kingdom. Gondor was the southern kingdom - that is why Aragorn is the king of the Reunited Kingdom. Even before the hobbits were given the territories for the Shire by king Argeleb II in 1601 of the 3d age (the Fellowship's journey is set in 3018-19 of that age), the kingdom of Arnor was separated for 3 parts. The character of Tauriel was made up out of whole cloth for this movie. She does not exist at all in the book. The powers that be in Hollywood decided there needed to be some romance in the movie, even though Tolkien didn't put any in himself (though there was certainly some in LotR). Likewise the whole barrel-battle scene was completely made up for the movie (and looked utterly ridiculous to me). Yes, in the book, they ride in the barrels down the river, with Bilbo invisibly clinging onto one of them. There was no orc battle. The elves weren't even aware they had escaped until later. Someday, I hope someone makes a live-action movie based on The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

I love Fili and Kili’s relationship in this trilogy it is so cutee!!! It isn’t in the center of attention but you can really see what a loving and protective older brother Fili is!! :)

As they said in an interview, they're basically the William and Harry of Middle-Earth -- a perfect analogy. I only wish Fíli was as well-developed as Kíli...
@iriscabej598
@iriscabej598 3 года назад
ComeOnIsSuchAJoy I agree I really wish Fíli was developed the same because it seems like he gets thrown to the side compared to Kíli but they are close brothers and should’ve gotten the same development

@@iriscabej598 Glóin got surprisingly little development, too, given his connections to LOTR.

ComeOnIsSuchAJoy that’s also true they just mention that Gimli is his son and that is basically all he gets besides a few one liners. The films aren’t bad if you hold them on their own separate from the book but some characters deserved more development

I love these movies a lot, but they didn't do a great job of describing how desperate the situation was in Mirkwood, they had no food for days, and they had to carry Bombur a long way it was really bad

Please stop hating Thorin, he's been through a lot and it made him harder towards certain things but it doesn't change the fact that he's a good Dwarf and he loves his subjects and friends.
@iriscabej598
@iriscabej598 3 года назад
I always see people hate him quickly due to his pride but he has trust issues due to the things he has been through and he has to maintain this pride and composure because the last time he sought for help, Thranduill and his elves walked away. Not that I dislike Thranduill lol but that effected him. He loves his family and his friends you can see that throughout he truly cares for them I agree!!

Not all of the Nazgul/ring wraiths were witch kings. Only one of them was. They were all kings, but only one witch king.

Don't worry too much about all the dwarves names.. Most of the Are there for comedy relief. Only focus on the main character. 👌 Must of the names of the dwarves are taken from the norsemen sagas... Examples like nordi, sutri westri eastri are some famous dwarves holding the four points of the Midgard (north, south, west east) 👌👌👌😁

I think Tolkien would have liked your pronunciations. Not how an English speaker would naturally think to say them, but I'm pretty sure Tolkien would have approved pronouncing them that way.
