Replacing the rear engine mount on my 1997 Toyota Hiace Super Custom 3.0 4WD van.
Apologies for the bad lighting, bad camera work, bad audio quality and all round bad video however I feel this might help someone out there who may be needing to replace their rear engine mount also.

Hi everyone, so sorry about the lighting and audio and camera work. Also, after closer inspection my engine mounts ARE worn. Not something I'll do in the apartment garage, will be done at next heavy maintenance call.

With over 400,000 Km I haven’t checked the engine mounts! I will do so in my next maintenance, cheers from Costa Rica!

Thankyou for the video just changed mine over and it definitely made a noticeable difference to vibrations, the old one was cracked and old it also had a rubber cover that slides over it which I kept on

I wonder how much of an improvement it would be if you used a Toyota part. I replaced my mounts with aftermarket parts in my lexus RX and I regret it. Thank you for your content. I want a Hiace bad.

Can't beat OEM parts. They've lasted over 20 years on my van as an example. But for now at least I'll take what I can get. The RX is a great car 👍

mine vibrates on idle and rattles a bit (not sure if “normal” amount or not) and supposedly had a new transmission mount put in before export. guess I know what to check now! thank you

Hey Nathan, where are you getting the torque specs from? the only ones i can find are from a standard hiace service manual and that lists the 19mm nut torque specs at 49Nm. was hoping you might have a more accurate sorce?

Nathan, you mention how imperative it is not to crack something like the aluminum transfer case by wrenching like a gorilla. If one can't find the correct torque spec, what would be a safe bet in your opinion?

Probably 37nm. If it feels right there I'd leave it, if not I can go up a bit more.
