Redemption Of Dan Scott 

The Dan Scott storyline was my favourite. I used to despise him. He used to make me so angry. But the moment he realised how he used to treat everybody (Keith too) he changed. I would never forgive a murderer. But in Dan, I saw someone who lost their way. This scene broke my heart. All he wants was to get to know his family and they cut him out. Understandably. But the good that Dan did after that made me realise that sometimes forgiveness is right. Dan got his redemption in the end, he got to see his family together. I think that's all Dan ever wanted. Keith died protecting Lucas and Dan died protecting Nathan. One Tree Hill did everything right with this character. He's just a man who lost his way.

"I'm dead and this is my hell" Dan was one tragedy unto himself. A catalogue of bad choices and daily humiliation. He found redemption in the wake of losing everything to his machiavellian ways and in death found forgiveness from those he loved and hurt the most. Nathan still had that respect for Dan as a father even if they weren't talking. Lucas was lost to Dan because in him shooting Keith, he killed the man who was the father to Lucas that Dan was not.

PAUL JOHANSSON IS A BRILLANT ACTOR! AND HIS POTRAYAL OF DAN SCOTT IS AMAZING , HIS CHARACTER MAKES THE SHOW EVEN MORE GREAT! ILL MISS HIM.

This is one of my favorite scenes throughout the whole season, in my opinion Dan deserved forgiveness not because what he did wasn't terrible, but because he changed. And I am so glad they brought Whitey back for the last season, he's absence was quite noticable.

Huge moment in OTH history. No matter where how you felt about Dan, you felt his words. You can feel the faith in the script. Bigger moment than Nathan telling Haley that he made the NBA, or that he was sick of failing.

This is one of the show's most moving moments, they way Whitey grabs Dan and tells him about redemption for him always leaves mi in tears. Miss OTH so much.

Like it or not, Dan and Brooke were by far the best characters of the show. They had the best character development.

Dan really tried to make amends for everything he did. The damage he caused can never be undone. All he could do was change himself and try to be a better person while he could. Paul is an underrated actor. Did a great job throughout this whole show.

Coach Durham was the best character from 1x1 til the end

To me Dan Scott was never a bad guy or evil just deeply misunderstood fueled with regret and anger. Jamie was the only one who saw the goodness in Dan Jamie Saved Dan and made him a better person.

the fact that one tree hill does a better redemption arc than game of thrones blows my mind

forgiveness is a powerful thing as shown here in this scene. and dan's depiction of hell where he sees the happiest moments of his family's life but doesn't get to be a part of or feel those moments would be about as close to hell as you can get while you're still alive

Yesterday i finished watching season 6 of one tree hill and in my opinion this is the best well written, well acted and overall best scene of the series so far

I believe anyone no matter who they are or no matter how horrible their crimes were, everyone can be truly repentant and can change their awful ways

It seems it can all run away from you so easy.. One moment. One fraction of a second can change anything, and in this case for the worse. I think Dan Scott has had one of the greatest impact on the whole series, and I've always sort of liked him.. Despite all he has done.

This was one of the greatest characters in TV history! You cannot tell me otherwise to have a character who literally had everyone and their mama wanting him dead, to literally sobbing fo his pain and his redemption story!! 😭😭😭😭😭

The one show I wish I could forget and watch all over again

This scene was one of the best I have seen so far! Hes got to live with bis mistakes and as much as everyone hated dan I always found myself to like him and his stroyline. Yes he's an ass through most of the show but he was just a man who lost his way he wanted to see his son do well in life and eventually his other son as well. The guilt of leaving Karen ate him up and even though he was the one to kill Keith he was led that way from everything else happening and made a bad choice and knew that he did.

I've learned that forgiveness is right in *all* cases... But _trust_ isn't a must.

this scene was amazing the acting was great and yeah dan broke my heart too i know it must be hard for them to forgive him after all hes done, but i do believe hes a changed man in season 7

Danny Scott is a perfect example of a tragic character.

It makes me cry when I see Dan apologies to Whitey for everything he's done to the family and for killing Keith.😢😢😢😢

Dan's biggest problem was that he couldn't get over "The Game", and that he didn't make it as a big time pro. He wanted to live Football Glory through Nathan, treated Keith and Lucas like Dirt not to mention Lucas's Mother. Did he have anything when he got out.

this is one of my favorite one tree hill moments, and yes seeing and feeling as though you cannot be apart of your family's happiest moments can be as bad as being in hell for real

I love that even though Whitey never liked Dan he still offers him refreshments! He is such a gentleman! ❤ i love how he hugs Dan! Yes Dan has done very horrific things but i think it counts for something that he turned his life around! If only all awful people did this! ❤😢

Dan's biggest problem was that he never got over not playing The Pros. He probably knew deep in his heart that he wasn't good enough. That's why he was the Sports Stage Father from H@ll, he wanted to live Basketball Glory thorough Nathan. There have been so mnay Parents who did the same thing. Joe Jackson with his Children The Jackson Five, and Murry Wilson with his Children The Beach Boys. Another person who "Never" got over not having Pop Stardom was Eldridge "Al" Bryant who was in a Group called The Distants, Then The Elgins (After The Wristwatch) and then The Temptations. HE wanted the Stardom but he didn't want to work for it. In 1963 he gets fired, in 1964 The group hits the Big Time, and in 1965 they become the Number One Male R & Vocal Group in The World. In The Movie about their life seen on NBC, he's in a Bar drinking a Beer, and slamming the Table upset he missed out on Stardom. In 1968, he sees Otis Williams (The Only Original Surviving Member), at The Fox Theater where as Teenagers they saw their favorite Group The Cadillacs perform Speedo and he's a mess. His clothes were unkempt, his hair was a mess and he had liquor on his Breath. He died a couple of years later of Liver Disease due to his heavy drinking but I think it was a broken heart.

The musicalisation, his acting, the expression in his face being totally empty, and miserable, numb and lost, this performance it is everything, this is maybe one of my favorite scenes on the entire show because of how well written and acted it is. In what episode it is, is 6x24???

Can you imagine how humiliating and heartbreaking it is to go from having it all to losing it all. No Family, No Welcome Home, etc. Then Whitey sees how both Father & Son had such a horrific downfall.

Can you imagine how humiliating it is to go from having it all and losing it all. Andre Rison the former Boyfriend of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes of TLC did a documentary called Broke about Athletes who have it all and lose it all due to bad business decisions and addictions.

I dont even watch one tree hill, but i love the dramatic acting here.

this show had over the top acting and story lines, honestly this scene is kinda the end of the series because getting rid of the adults killed this show, its funny to see kinda decent dating but then you see a 5 minute scene of great acting in-between

I think the reason I found myself loving Dan’s character was because he reminds me so much of Damon from vampire diaries.

Lucas will never forgive Dan bc he took Keith away from him, the only father he’s ever known. Not just from him but Dan took Keith away from his mother as well. Karen lost her soulmate & blamed Lucas in the beginning for Keith dying. Nathan however is a different story.
