WIth the amount of early access games pretty much any game I buy makes me feel like I spent x dollars on an unfinished game. The time of finished games is over.
After Battlefield 2042 I've had no faith in AAA games anymore, no more pre-orders from me since that game. I also pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 but at least that one had a cecent story where I didnt feel like I wasted my money.
I personally love the enemies unique abilities. I’ve been tired of predicting which plane of existence enemies will exist on, this game really randomized it.
Modern gaming in a nutshell: releases as an unfinished mess, people make fun of it for a few weeks, devs proceed to fix it months later but at that point most have moved on and forgot about said game. At this point these videos are the real reward.
@@curseddeity6379 No Mans Sky being the biggest example. The game would win GOTY if it was in the state it is now when it was released. Brilliant game and really the best 10 quid you could spend now.
LOL remember when the nerds online were trying to call out Tears of the Kingdom for looking too much like Breath of the wild. And they preceded to defend Redfall as the next "huge" game. hahah tears of the kingdom will be the game of the year no question.
@@eM-kb6sm next thing they’re gonna say God of War Ragnarok looked too much like God of War (2018) Almost like it’s a prequel/sequel lol. Can’t believe people actually said that.
The most impressive thing is that hollow man is known in the gaming community to be one of the hardest bosses in video game history and dunkey just beat him in 12 seconds using a Wii steering wheel
@@raymixb2 reminds me up fallout 76s launch, got out of spawn only to be met by an invincible rad roach who was stuck animating in place while his hitbox was feet away. Was able to do sneak attack while looking at its face but it took no damage. Went afk on top of a roof then a pile of roaches spawned next to me. Just quit and uninstalled.
I never thought I'd see the day that Ryan, who we all know from his breakout debut in Overwatch 2, would be surpassed by another character. What an absolutely gut wrenching performance from Martha. Bravo.
Funny thing is that a few years ago a lot of people thought that 'Redfall' was going to be Elder Scrolls VI because the name was like hammerfell and the trademark was registered right after the TES VI trailer came out.
@@didibus I mean considering they could re release Skyrim in a different setting with minor visual upgrades and some new monsters and people would be happy. Should be hard to mess up.
@@tommybenton8930 No? They literally said "greatest game I've NEVER played." The second half reinforces this by giving context on how they enjoyed the game without having played it.
As a longtime fan of Arkane Studios, it has become abundantly clear to me that, between the Lyon team and the Dallas team, Arkane Lyon does the heavy lifting
It's truly sad to see that in less than 10 years it's nearly impossible to expect a game to release finished. Lately I've been having more fun playing older titles that are normally 75%+ off on Steam and made between 2005-2014. At least people like Dunkey can take these moments of incompetence and make something humorous out of them. Just a shame that Redfall (like so many other games) won't get the polish it should've had.
the ending is worth it guys. just keep playing. when the red dude bro falls i could not stop but just smile. maybe the real red was the fall we got on the way.
When I first launched redfall, I was actually in awe; the BlackSun seemed liked an interesting character, there was this wild Moses-style water wall all around me, and I’m sitting there like “hell yeah, this is gonna be co- and there’s an enemy in the ground…”
Same. I took a couple of screenshot of the black sun and the bats things flying in the distance. Then I encountered the most retarded enemies ever seen in my 30 years of gaming. I was already about to quit the game but a couple of friends invited me to their game and I thought, well coop gonna be cool. But it took us 30 min just to get the game started, and we kept disconnecting and having to restart. And then we figured out that your progress if you aren’t host doesn’t save. And then we realized the map is completely empty. And the loot system was trash. And the bugs. I would have trashed this game if it was a $20 early access. At $70 is almost worthy of a class action lawsuit. Thank God i played through game pass. Best feature of the game, it uninstalled like a charm.
It never fails to amaze me how the gaming industry constantly regresses. I wonder if we'll reach a critical point soon because I cant imagine people can take much more of this shit.
People are still eating this shit up. I've seen plenty of people defending this game and saying its fun and they don't understand the hate. As long as morons are buying garbage like this, nothing will change.
My favorite part of this game was when Phil Soft got on camera and said "we understand that this game is actually gorilla dick, and we apologize, we just suck too bad to make any good games." Probably the top gaming moment of the century.
@@BlackSkyZ2 At the time, Phil said he played the preview and it was good. Meaning he blatantly lied. He could have scrapped the game right there and then and put Arkane on to the next project.
Interesting I think that a number of people have this experience. I've had the opposite experience, I've been bombarded with ads about this game for weeks at least.
@@the_rabidsquirel You probably accidentally saw some beta gameplay or some pre-release review and the algorithm just bombarded you. Either that or you still haven't learned to get adblock.
I only know of this game because every podcast from the Last Podcast network has had an advertisement for this game these last few weeks. They made it sound like a lot of fun, and I thought it could be a good co-OP game my friends could play together. Something like Borderlands 2. As you can see, this is absolutely not the case.
Dunkey didn't even have to try to break this game. It broke itself for him. Really, we should all be thanking it for making sure he got a great video out of it.
Y'know they called him shuffleboard pete because of his superb rolling ability. Cell block D would often bowl him into the armed guards as a bit of sport.
“Gamers , teams , creators , creative teams , gamepass, Xbox eco system , play anywhere , more teams , more games , more creators , day one release … “ - Phil spencer probbaly
You know, some would see the video title "Redfail" and think it's too obvious, too easy. However this is the genius Donkey and we have been granted insight into his beautiful and brilliant mind.
@@erso_returned2530 when I'm playing chess with someone (4d chess cause ima smartz lol) my favorite strategy is to flip over the table after staring at my opp for 30 secs...this confuses them and they NEVER see it coming! Best part is cause they can't win cause the game isn't played... would reccomend to 7/10 friends 8/8
I was just watching Josh Strife-Hayes play D&D Online, an MMO from 2006. That game had good ladder-climbing animations where your character actually grabbed each rung. That was 17 years ago. Think about how much games went forward between 1989 and 2006, and how much they went backwards between 2006 and now.
I just finished a computer science module on game engines where the focus this year was "emergent behaviours" like systems working in tandem to create unexpected interactions. Redfall is a great example of emergent behaviours because nobody expected this absolute dumpster file to emerge out like it did
@@fraserduffy4576fps problems happen everywhere for me. Shame the game itself is so good, but has been buried by all the issues and bad reviews it has garnered as a result. Was hoping to beat the game before Zelda came out but I just can’t fully enjoy the game with it dipping so much and so hard, so I uninstalled it. I will have to come back a month or so down the road when it is hopefully fully fixed. The recent ps5 patch did almost nothing for me except make quality mode more consistent. But playing 30 fps on there just to go to doom eternal at 60+ or god of war ragnarok or even RE4R, idk it just makes Jedi survivor look and feel so bad when it could and should be so good. Sorry for semi long rant but like many others I paid $70 for something I can’t enjoy the way I want and should be able to. Fully next gen game had me excited with how good it should run but it ended up being what it is instead. Hogwarts legacy on ps4 pro is running better than Jedi survivor. Man wtf is gaming nowadays….
Morgan Dunkey I have to say your Shawshank redemption references always catch me so off guard and make me laugh and your Gordon freeman impression always is so spot on, it kills me.
I'm not sure which i enjoyed more... Dunkey not being able to kill anything before Fluppy, Fluppy then being blown up next to a car, or Dunkey pleading for his life while running away when he noticed he had walked too close to a can of gas. Also nice to know the legacy of PC ports lives on. Great review.
first time i loaded up redfall, half of the objects didnt load ig so i was running around with my co op partner and like none of the doors existed so i kept running into invisible walls (on my friends side, i was just face planting into doors obviously). not only that, but the starter weapon didnt spawn so i had to run through the tutorial area meleeing till someone dropped a pistol. got enough of running into invisible doors near the end of the tutorial, restarted my game, and came back. the missing objects were fixed but for whatever reason it actually moved me farther into the game so i missed a lot of story stuff. 10/10
While fighting that one angler "boss", she warped to my location, got stuck in the ceiling and somehow killed me after dying which broke the side quest.
This is truly one of the games of all time, the guns exist, the movement is there, the enemies are real, the graphics are graphicy, the voice acting sounds. Truly this is a game
