Repairing the Instrument Cluster in My Saab 900 was a DISASTER! 

I have watched and loved all of your videos from the past couple months. I also have a 1988 Saab 900 turbo, but mine is an spg. You really deserve more subscribers, and I hope you never stop making videos!

I always give your videos a thumbs up, but this was your most well-deserved of all! 😅👍 Loved 14:10 where the temp/turbo/fuel finally worked for the first time, a magic moment followed by a turning point when you fixed the right turn signal indicator light. (Pun intended) But the best and likely too 'on the nose' pun is yet to come ...... "What a Cluster!" 😅 Way to persevere. Tedium builds character. Thanks.

My '93, the fuel gauge was not working (with the 4 resistors printed circuit). You could see on the printed circuit it had been hot. After lots of checks, and doing what you did plus more, soldering in conventional wire in place of the film. Plus 1 tiny capacitor ON the gauge, which had made the whole thing hot. Fixed. I have pictures (not video). I can forward if you tell me how.

Also, you had a problem with those 2 black plastic things held on with a single nut. The issue will be the contact between it and the printed circuit. Use a product called Isopropyl alcohol (IPA)(from your hardware store) a non-aggressive cleaner, with a cotton bud.

looks good so far. but when i am already here, i need some help with my 900. my 900 is from 1992 (european model) and has ABS. now the problem is that the "anti-lock" lamp on the dash is on and also, even after taking the key out of the ignition and all is switched of, somehow the pumprelais (connection A+) in the little compartmend on the right side, next to the fuel tank for the servo steering, still has juice and draines my battery over time. so as i was checking the bentley manual and it sayes that from the ignition switch in the middle console, connection 54 goes to 21A which is in the manual an (ignition relais) under the rear seat and from there it moves further to a cross con and from there to the ABS unit and to the sayed pump relais. now before i took the car apart, but not the entire intierier (only seats, carpets, middle console and dashboard) the only thing i did on the ignition switch was on con 15 where i made another con for my extra gauges, i reconnected all as it was. as for the ignition relais, i thought that this then might be the issiue, but when i was looking, the certain relais was missing, but i didnt do anything there and the abs was working before. so is it because i have a european model and those dont have the ignition relais (21A)? if you have a bentley manual the ABS wiring is on page 371-11. i hope someone can help me, i dont know whatelse i should check! (i already checked the relais and it works as it should)

Awesome. Any plans with the bad parts you've accumulated? I'd love to turn a 900 dash cluster into a desk-clock/display piece... perhaps driving the gauges and lights via arduino/etc. :D I wish i lived closer to you, i'd be happy to help you with electrical repairs, etc...

The speedo from the 91 spg is actually from a 1980 900.

The cluster illumination bulbs have gone out on my ‘86 turbo, might this be a dimmer potentiometer issue?….thanks kindly for any ideas
